Female Helmet Cat

It seems most of the others posts that need the most retconning are already passed the hour mark. If there is a retcon, I think my post is consistent with those still being there, unless it is completely retconned and Taraz was on the balcony after all. I'm not sure how it will be handled if it goes through.

Daughter of Gods. Gods! or possibly of aliens.

Yeah, I went ahead and posted. Retcon will have to be done IC.

Totally not a Werewolf

I deleted mine, and held off on posting one about the hospital ship Alessandra flew in on... I'll wait until the official ruling.

Female Helmet Cat

As a rule, people on hospital ships are better at dealing with wounds than thumbless helmet cats. :3

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Dance-oholic Minx

Cassie looks down on Baron Von Zombi her hands trembling; "I can rebuild him. I have the technology." She gets her wench out.

:p

Well, if you don't mind robbing graves for body parts and installing an AI in them as part of a sick joke. :-P I might suggest a nice body for him next time; maybe he'll be less grumpy then!

?????

No need to rob graves, there are at least two fresh corpses and should be more soon, I look forward to seeing the conglomerate beast, TaraLetoZombisque, in the next game.

In a top hat and coat tails, singing "Puttin' on the Ritz', of course.

Female Helmet Cat

Also, loved Baron von Zombi's death speech. People might not know this about me, but I love a nice dramatic death speech. >_>

Your death speech from the mutant game was my inspiration, obviously. :)

Daughter of Gods. Gods! or possibly of aliens.

I'm sad he was just a machine... *sniffle*

Female Helmet Cat

Machines can feel too!

?????

They can even dream, on a related note I-Robot is a great movie if you haven't seen it. Of course, Blade Runner is a classic movie on the robot personality development, I think the original story by Phillip Dick was "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep".

Female Helmet Cat

"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" is a good read. Or at least I thought so.

It is. "I, Robot" is a good read, of course. I don't know about the movie but I heard they were nothing alike. I was happy to have a strong intellectual female role model in a few of the books of that unenlightened time (Dr. Susan Calvin).

Female Helmet Cat

I used to find a lack of strong female characters in fantasy and sci fi in particular pretty disappointing... I think that's changing, albeit slowly.

Dance-oholic Minx

Two words... Tanith Lee

I, Robot isn't particularly similar to the book, but it's a darn good movie nonetheless. Funnily enough, I didn't even think of I, Robot or Blade Runner when developing Gigus. I was mostly aiming at a high-tech Frankie's Monster or golem.

I'll have to check Tanith Lee out.

Dance-oholic Minx

Her books are a bit tough to get into, but so very rewarding. Death's Master series is great mythology. And he characters are generally realistic female heroes.

Female Helmet Cat

I may just have to check it out!

Slowly huh? That's interesting: every dark fantasy book I've ever read had the main character female.

Maybe I just need to expand my material...

Female Helmet Cat

Really? I might just need to expand my own!

Dance-oholic Minx

Depends the Dark Fantasy in the vein of Anita Blake, are full of terribad heroines. But tradition fantasy, especially pre-80's is difficult. Sonya Blue stories excepting.

Mrs. Smashtag made me read some of the Anita Blakes and Merry Gentrys.

I was disturbed, confused, vaguely -- well, you get the picture. :-P

Mr. Smashtag no readie those kinds of books no more.

Male Human Fighter 1

This is good for Mr. Smashtag. I avoid those kind of books like the plague.

Back BTW!

Female Helmet Cat

Welcome back!

Daughter of Gods. Gods! or possibly of aliens.

I believe Anita Blake is from these parts round hyar. It's rather embarrassing.

Welcome back, Andrezi!

Does anybody else find it odd that in the Gameplay thread, there's life-or-death drama and hysteria, while here we are calmly discussing literature?

Welcome back!

Now go catch up and make post and good luck, because the plot got so thick it went non-Newtonian like 150 posts ago.

And I believe her particular 'raound hyar' was 'Missoura'. Yeah, that's right, St. Louis. I couldn't remember if she was SL or KC.

Dance-oholic Minx

St Louis, is Ms Blake. Merry Gentry was LA. (Yeah, I read too many of those type of books. LOL)

Female Helmet Cat

For a game that ended up having so little bloodshed relatively speaking, there is so much tension and drama!

Daughter of Gods. Gods! or possibly of aliens.

I'll say. If I'd known pvp was possible, the night would have been waaaay different! ;)

I only hope we didn't discourage our beloved GM. Our free-form RP game seems to have gone off the rails somehow.

Dance-oholic Minx

Cassie isn't going to meet her goal - to dance with everyone at the party though. :(

Insufferable Lout

Man, you guys are RPing this scene so great, maybe Taraz shouldn't come back so to speak. I am totally fine with him being "almost" assassinated and you guys build off of that. Like I said, I expressed a little dissatisfaction since I was blindsided a bit, but if it would break immersion at this point, Taraz being more or less sidelined as a wounded but living character is fine with me. It would have been to RP him more, but maybe he shouldn't "return" until later in the hour anyway.

It looks like the majority have voted to bring Taraz back in.

Taraz, you may re-join the game should you wish.

?????

I keep imagining Meows as the cat from Shrek with the Big Pleading Eyes, you just want to give it treats all the time.

Female Helmet Cat

She is a tabby cat, perhaps it's not inaccurate, except a helmet instead of a hat!

Dance-oholic Minx

Meowselsworth turning her head so Ingilstadt can sniff her from behind, or is that just dogs? ;p

Female Helmet Cat

Cats seem more likely to sniff each other's noses. :P

?????

thank god for that!

The Exchange

Good gosh man!

You should have some fresh Duke meat for parts.....

?????

I need to be fair here and drop some criticism on myself, I've been meta-gaming the numbers based on roles, and not just a little bit, I've been doing it badly and IC. In the Mutants game we had the space station monitor telling us the numbers of the roles, so there was a vehicle for that knowledge, but here there isn't and it's bad game play for me to be doing that, sorry!

Dance-oholic Minx

Von Ryuko did tell us how many people there are been and the numbers of Roles at the end of the First Hour. And whom has died.

BTW Rappan Attuk kickstarter finishes in 30 minutes. $20 gets a badge, T-shirt, your Name in the Book & if there are 20 more backers a set of dice.

Insufferable Lout

$300 Supporter right here! $250 level + subscription for extra dungeons. Go Frog God Games!!

Daughter of Gods. Gods! or possibly of aliens.

Poor impulse control wins again. Curse you tempters! *shakes fist*

Totally not a Werewolf

For those who are interested, the first draft of the rules for my AI game is here. I've done a fair bit of tinkering with the rules and roles and would appreciate feedback on whether it seems balanced.

Female Helmet Cat

virus.obfuscated seems like a very powerful virus role. Scanning it yields less results than pointing at someone and then flipping a coin.

Daughter of Gods. Gods! or possibly of aliens.

Do debuggers get one scan each, or one between them?

Do you want discussion on that thread instead of here?

Reads like the debugger gets one scan which is voted on, meaning the virii have to kill multiple networked-from-the-beginning individuals to fully get rid of the scan. So, I'd say that balances out .obfuscated pretty well.

Also, I suddenly really want to replay the .hack games. So, if I don't make it into the next game, y'all will know where I be. :)

Totally not a Werewolf

Virus.obfuscated is a powerful role, and I wasn't sure whether to go with 50% or 25%. I was looking for a good way to balance the debuggers and it seemed like a good option... but the more sets of eyes the better. I'm also not sure whether I should give them a bonus against the forensics suite.

Debuggers get one scan between them, the target of which is voted on.

Dance-oholic Minx

I would probably add that Programs can abstain from voting but not actively Vote for no Deletion.

The Decompiler implies that we don't know deleted programs roles (function). That could be very nasty...
