It seems most of the others posts that need the most retconning are already passed the hour mark. If there is a retcon, I think my post is consistent with those still being there, unless it is completely retconned and Taraz was on the balcony after all. I'm not sure how it will be handled if it goes through.
Well, if you don't mind robbing graves for body parts and installing an AI in them as part of a sick joke. :-P I might suggest a nice body for him next time; maybe he'll be less grumpy then!
No need to rob graves, there are at least two fresh corpses and should be more soon, I look forward to seeing the conglomerate beast, TaraLetoZombisque, in the next game.
They can even dream, on a related note I-Robot is a great movie if you haven't seen it. Of course, Blade Runner is a classic movie on the robot personality development, I think the original story by Phillip Dick was "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep".
Female Humanish Very little class but on the level
It is. "I, Robot" is a good read, of course. I don't know about the movie but I heard they were nothing alike. I was happy to have a strong intellectual female role model in a few of the books of that unenlightened time (Dr. Susan Calvin).
I, Robot isn't particularly similar to the book, but it's a darn good movie nonetheless. Funnily enough, I didn't even think of I, Robot or Blade Runner when developing Gigus. I was mostly aiming at a high-tech Frankie's Monster or golem.
Her books are a bit tough to get into, but so very rewarding. Death's Master series is great mythology. And he characters are generally realistic female heroes.
Depends the Dark Fantasy in the vein of Anita Blake, are full of terribad heroines. But tradition fantasy, especially pre-80's is difficult. Sonya Blue stories excepting.
Man, you guys are RPing this scene so great, maybe Taraz shouldn't come back so to speak. I am totally fine with him being "almost" assassinated and you guys build off of that. Like I said, I expressed a little dissatisfaction since I was blindsided a bit, but if it would break immersion at this point, Taraz being more or less sidelined as a wounded but living character is fine with me. It would have been to RP him more, but maybe he shouldn't "return" until later in the hour anyway.
I need to be fair here and drop some criticism on myself, I've been meta-gaming the numbers based on roles, and not just a little bit, I've been doing it badly and IC. In the Mutants game we had the space station monitor telling us the numbers of the roles, so there was a vehicle for that knowledge, but here there isn't and it's bad game play for me to be doing that, sorry!
For those who are interested, the first draft of the rules for my AI game is here. I've done a fair bit of tinkering with the rules and roles and would appreciate feedback on whether it seems balanced.
Reads like the debugger gets one scan which is voted on, meaning the virii have to kill multiple networked-from-the-beginning individuals to fully get rid of the scan. So, I'd say that balances out .obfuscated pretty well.
Also, I suddenly really want to replay the .hack games. So, if I don't make it into the next game, y'all will know where I be. :)
Virus.obfuscated is a powerful role, and I wasn't sure whether to go with 50% or 25%. I was looking for a good way to balance the debuggers and it seemed like a good option... but the more sets of eyes the better. I'm also not sure whether I should give them a bonus against the forensics suite.
Debuggers get one scan between them, the target of which is voted on.
