Male Gillman Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 1

Iogorian dispassionately watches Ri'el and Sandara take Ostarian away, then turns to Scourge. "Sir? I take it you have tasks for us?"

Unchained Rogue (Knife master) 5 (AC: 20 [T: 14 FF: 16(18)] |HP: 33/33 | F+2, R+8, W+0 | Init: +4 |Perc: +7)

Peggy mentally takes note of the crew who seem to relish Ostarian's pain more than the others, then moves over to join Iogorian and the other swabs, looking over the other new "recruits" to see how well they seem to know their way around a ship. "You have jobs for us sir?"

Scourge grins devilishly at Iogorian and Peggy. "Look alive, swabs! Yer fresh meat here on this ship. Ye gets the gruntwork."

Iogorian Task: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Peggy Task: 1d6 ⇒ 2

He points at Iogorian with a crusty finger. "Slim, yer on repairs today. There's some sails that need sewin' an' some rope that needs splicin' down in the hold. Getcherself down there!" Profession Sailor or Dexterity check.

"An' you, peggy," he doesn't realize he's already calling her by her nickname without having heard it, "There's some rats an' roaches needs squashin' down below deck. Take the stairs down from the hold to get there." Stealth, Survival, or Dexterity check. He shoos them off and starts barking orders at other swabs. Everyone begins taking their respective places for the day's work.

A ton of rolls for all the NPCs:

Sandara glares at Plugg as he cuts her off before she could respond to the wordy new cook's mate. She sighs and agrees to help take Ostarian down to the crew's quarters. Walking with the hefty man between her and Ri'el, she spares a few hushed words down the steps. "I'm a cleric of Besmara. I want off this ship, and I'm not looking to make any enemies while I'm on it. You all seem like smart folk, not like these cads." As they reach the ship's middle hold, she points to a door to the right. "That's the galley. Best get there as soon as we've got Ostarian downstairs. Don't go up the stairs on the fore or aft, there's only trouble to be had there. Officers' quarters in the fore, captain's in the aft. Just keep your head down and do your work and you'll be fine."

They continue downstairs to the crew's quarters and heave Ostarian into a hammock. When she's sure nobody is looking, she slips out a book and and pouch and hands them to Ostarian. "Thought these might be yours. Managed to trick the quartermaster into thinking they were cursed, so she handed them over." Turning back to Ri'el she says, "Go, now! If you're caught lurking around when you're supposed to be cooking, there's no telling what they'll do."

Okay, so you guys can interact with any characters in your area of the ship for the 'influence' daytime ship action. Additionally, the non-static characters may also be influenced, as they can be just about anywhere on the ship at any time. Just make sure two of you aren't interacting with the same non-static character. You can't influence any of the officers.

Edit: The cook's mate will be able to influence the cook, the quartermaster, and any non-static NPCs.

Iogorian nods slowly at Scourge, smiling. "Good, good, very excellent good. I'll head down there, then, shall I?" Humming tunelessly, he descends, grabbing the first sail or rope that comes to hand and setting to work.

Dexterity: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Now how in the Hells does one splice rope, again...?

After several abortive attempts at getting a rope to look normal, and seeing that there is no one near by, Iogorian stands to "stretch his legs." As he does so, he takes a careful look around the middle deck of the ship, examining the boxes, crates, and barrels he finds there, trying to glean any new information he can about the ship's cargo.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Nothing springs forward to greet him...

Terrible rolls aside, I'm spending the day sneaking in the Middle deck (area A6).

I'll try to use my day action to influence Sandara, assuming she is one of the NPCs I can gain influence with.

"A cleric? And here I was thinking she was a bard. Well, she's certainly pretty and spirited enough. Guess not all clerics are stuffy and boring...or maybe I've just spent too much time amongst the followers of Irori. In any event, I do respect a lady who can look after herself."

"Thanks, Sandara. I want off this ship too, as do Iogorian, Jack and Peggy. They were the three who were with me up on the crow's nest. I suspect we'll be working together to find a way to get off this ship, and if we do find a way, you'll be the first to know."

"One more thing, I have a very important pouch that is probably with the quartermaster as well. Where can I find the quartermaster? For that matter, where can I find you after I'm done with my tasks? I would like to speak with you further, if possible. We could look our for each other. I mean, you look like you can handle yourself as well as any of the rest of us, and possibly even better, but it can't hurt to have a friend on this ship."

Ri'el flashes another brilliant smile at Sandara as he offers his hand to her. For a hand shake.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

Knowledge Religion for who-the-heck-Besmara is: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll do this next part simultaneously, to speed things along, since I can't see the conversation with Sandara affecting Ri's duties in the galley. Chronologically, the bit below happens after Ri'el finishes speaking with Sandara.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Later

Ri'el steels himself as he stands before the door to the galley, wondering just what kind of person or creature "ol' fishguts" would be that Plugg would speak of him as he did. Finding scant comfort in the 2 berries in his pocket that he had saved for emergencies, he takes a deep breath and opens the door.

Casts guidance before opening the door.

"I hope I survive this..."

"Mister Fishguts, sir? Your new assistant reporting for duty."

Readied action to cast sleep if I am attacked.

"Yes sir!" Peggy says with a sigh, letting a look of annoyance pass across her face at Scourge's "Joke", a task made easier by her real annoyance at being made to hunt rats. Rats! Oh well, at least its somethin' i'm good at she thinks to herself as she crosses the deck quickly and heads below deck.

Sneak action, stealth check (for task) (take 10 + 7): = 17
... Breifly explore the lower hold / crew berths.

To whoever else is in the area working near Peggy, she introduces herself and, if any of the others are falling short of the number of rats they should catch, she shares a couple of hers (but makes sure that she has more than them at the end of the day.)

Ostarian allows himself to be led and half carried towards the crew quarters, thoroughly enjoying his proximity to the lovely redhead. "Yes... with these fellows, I am sure there are many who would want off this ship. Myself included. I am not sure I am built for working on a ship." He smiles when she offers him his spellbook and component pouch, touching them reverently. "Many thanks my good woman," he says.

Once alone with the woman he continues. "With these I may be able to speed along my healing somewhat. At least after a few days of rest. So you are a cleric?" he speaks softly. "Then perhaps I should be more specific with regards to my... condition so as to not have an accident later. The normal energies that would heal the living, instead when directed at me, may, in certain circumstances cause me harm. The energies typically associated with death that would normally harm the living, however, seem to have a more... curative result with me. Keep that in mind should something else befall me and you have the admirable urge to assist me once again," he finishes with a smile and a small groan as he lies back in his cot.

"Aye aye, Mister Plugg! Me name be Jack Thimble. I be off to the ropes then!" Jack saunters over to the ropes and gets to work, clearly experienced at the task. Ropes are easy. I should have no trouble getting this done quickly and taking some time to have a look-see around this ship. He keeps a keen eye on Plugg as he fastens the ropes, looking for an opportunity to get in some scouting. The moment Plugg leaves the area, Jack is gone, vanishing belowdecks to see about this quartermaster.

Profession (Sailor): 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 - 2 = 19 (Rushing his rope-tying duties in order to "Shop")

Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 (Stealth check to make it into the quartermaster's hold undetected.)

Male Gillman Alchemist (Vivisectionist) 1

Iogorian idly kicks at a crate as he searches, wondering if there are any small critters inside he might scare out for...research.
