Hey, Sinvel, have you seen this?
Hello, other people. Nothing to see here. ;)
*Sneaks out*

With the info provided about the Saltshacks and Dread's Place...should we meet up in the mornming at our normal rendezvous point and then head down to the Saltshacks after....it sounds a worse place than Scurveytown. If we decide to go to Dread's Place, then it should be in the morning, in daylight.
I'm thinking we might need to scout the place a bit... perhaps take a room overlooking, to try and get an idea of who comes and goes.
Otherwise, can anyone swim...
Just think we need to be prepared for this...

Mishael |

I can swim too, not as well as Suny. Agree with the plan. You thinking of scouting for 24 hours or just until we know what the situation is before going in?
BTW, I'm going to be on a business trip to China from Monday through Friday. Theoretically still plan to post, but if I'm hanging anything up, please DMNPC me.

Karsielle |

Hmm.... Karsielle is a woman with nice hair, of course she doesn't swim, don't want to get wet hair. Only time she might is with the aid of armbands or a rubber ring. Swim -1. Karsielle and BF will stand on the quay and clap as you swimmers do your stuff ... LOL
So try and rent a room for a couple of days or so, then see what we can do.

Mishael |

Sure. The way I see it, Suny has to convince Gartold that we should come in. Seems to me the note is the easiest way to do that and we need to get his reaction to it anyway. But, I think Suny ought to be prepared to head for the ocean and swim out of there if things go sideways.

Karsielle |

You need to give Gartold a little bit more of a reason, you have friends that have information he might find beneficial, that one of his SaltShacks might be putting his territory at risk. Not sure quite how you do it, yet
Do we want Gartold to let us in to talk to Welby?
You could try and find out Gartold's relationship with Welby?
How do we bring Montrose into the picture....
How are you on bluff Suny?
Just putting the note here so I can find it easily.
Silas finds a note laying not far away from the body. It lays open on the floor. It reads:
Where have you been? You were supposed to find more goods for me to sell. They have been asking for more, and part of the bargain was that you could provide at least one body a week. I don't want to find out what would happen if we don't keep up supply.
Forget our rendezvous point, just see me at the Saltshacks. I don't think Gartold suspects anything yet.
Welby

Okay, not wanting to meta-game, just wanting some things to help jog my memory kind of thing.
But, the party was originally tasked at finding a certain Captain? Yes.
Along the way we've found a possible connection to something to do with smuggling? Or drugs? Or kind of both?
This has also lead us to the now unfortunately deceased form of a companion of said Captain as well as painting a darker picture of the whole affair?
It was from the deceased place or residence that we found the last link to the Saltshacks? yes?
Hence the name of Welby?
Much thanks to ye and yours. ^_^

So...I went to look over my class archetype just because today, and realized that I screwed up three things rather obviously badly.
1. Urban Rangers get Favored Communities, not Terrains. So, DM, how do you want to handle the community aspect? Is it all of Freeport, or do I do it by district divisions?
2. I get trapfinding at 3rd level, not endurance. Cool, but I still feel stupid.
3. I'm missing a 3rd level feat.
Mind if I correct these problems?

Sorry for the delay everyone. Busy most of last week with SXSW.
Michael, nice job on the Rum Gremlin! I did not partake in Journeys to the West. I have done about a half dozen patronages at Open Design. I usually just lurk and do some voting. Too busy to add much. Never know, maybe we'll see those gremlins in Freeport!

Mishael |

Definitely putting SXSW on my calendar for next year. Thanks for the compliment on the gremlins. It has been a fun project. I have a few other things coming in the final book - an island, an adventure, an NPC and another monster. Might have something bigger coming next year.

DM Sinvel |

Hey guys & girl,
We're getting close to the last part of the adventure. I will give you all a heads up and say that the last part is fairly combat heavy. So I thought I'd let everyone know that if someone dies, they die. Hope everyone is OK with that. Also, you are all close to leveling up so that should help. There aren't that many deadly encounters so I think everyone should be OK.
Also, one of you has already seen how to get to the next part of the adventure! (insert evil laugh here)
After this adventure (module) is finished I don't plan on running another one in this setting right now. I'm open to handing over the DM duties if you all would like to continue with your characters. IMO, the PbP format is slow and if you try to do a long campaign people usually lose interest sooner or later.
If someone else does take over, I wouldn't mind playing as a PC. I think this has been great fun and I love all of the awkward circumstances people have been put in from time to time!
Now, let's get on with it!!

If you guys want to continue, I'll take over. Had been starting to think of picking up a 2nd game anyway. Let me know what if anything you all have already done in Freeport so I can decide whether to run with something published or a homebrew. I am toying with Madness in Freeport if none of you have played it before.

Mishael |

Yeah, I can see a couple possibilities. A couple months will be good to prepare. I'll bounce some ideas off you all as we go. Madness is one possibility. I can see some interesting ways I might adapt Children in the Void 2nd part of the Second Darkness AP) to Freeport and to a standalone module. I'll look for some others as well.

Mishael |

I did and would love to run that one once it is out. I missed that the manuscript was in. I was mostly a passive patron on that one, but wasn't the decision to make it higher level?
Of course, we could always say the characters split up and then reunited at the new level.
There will also be some material from Journeys that would fit well with Freeport. Pretty sure they are all coming in at odd levels - 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and then I think they hop to 12. Adventures are due tomorrow and playtest will be available in April. Pretty sure final manuscript might even be ready by the time we're ready for a new adventure.

While we wait to hear just what Bloody Flag has found behind that door and just how tough a final set of encounters Sinvel has in store for us, I just wanted to mention that the newest Open Design project has just been announced:
Midgard Tales
The work coming out of Open Design has been top-notch and one of the best parts of participating in the whole project is you get a chance to influence the design. At higher tiers of pledging, you also get a chance to get your own experience with game design. I've been a participant in the projects since Tales of the Old Margreve and just started getting my own design experience with Journeys to the West where I will have two monsters, one magic item, one NPC, and island, and an adventure in the final compilation.
Midgard Tales is pure adventures. Thirteen of them, set in Midgard, but undoubtedly many will be easily transferred to Golarion or the homebrew of your choice. The Kickstarter won't close until May 21, but some of the levels have limited backers, so if you're interested in writing an adventure, don't wait. I highly recommend it.
