As Mera speaks to the crowd the air fills with Oohhs and Ahhhs. When she mentions that two people almost died in rehearsal, one woman faints. They are so enthralled, they hardly noticed that the other cast members have gone inside.

Robahl at first glares at the late-coming Mera, but then she considers how well she did yesterday and thinks better of it. Today is very much like the day before, except Robahl's wrath is especially focused on those who provided a less than stellar performance the day before. He is especially brutal with Thesing calling him a has-been more than once and demanding that he perform several scenes over again shouting Again Sir! This time with some FEELING! Delour also does not escape his notice or his wrath and she is asked to do several of her scenes over again. He angrily reprimands Calsenica several times throughout the day as she has trouble remembering her lines and her performance overall is dull. He keeps a watchful eye on the performances of Naberius, Tal and Monday. His eyes boring into them and his brow furrowed in concentration. He hardly pays any attention to Tuesday and has almost written him off as a lost cause.

He also makes sure Garrald is the stagehand not dressed up as a female for a stand-in which causes a look from Garrald of severe disappointment who then spends the rest of the day looking lovingly at Tal.

At the end of the day he again gathers the cast on stage and again stands there staring each cast member down.

Delour Perform: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Thesing Perform: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Calsenica Perform: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Finally he speaks.

Thesing and Delour! Now that is the level of performance I expect of you both. It shouldn't have needed all the extra work to get it out of you, but I'm glad it did! Please keep repeating today's performance and not repeat yesterday's Both Thesing and Delour perk up like proud peacocks and give the director an elaborate stage bow. As he is bowing, Thesing makes it a point to smirk at Mera.

Calsenica! What in the seven layers of the abyss happened to you today! Did the praise from yesterday go to your head! You are not established yet my dear and a bad performance here not only will end your career - but your life! After what I saw today, I can't say that either outcome would be a pity! Calsenica starts to whimper and tears stream from her eyes. If you are going to cry, GET OFF MY STAGE AND DO IT ELSEWHERE! Robahl bellows. Calsenica runs from the stage shrieking.

Without looking at the departing spectacle of Calsenica, Robahl turns back to the cast and says, Now where was I?

Everyone give me a Performance (Act) check.

Tal sees Mera take front stage withteh crowd gathering around. His first instinct is to hide and duck in the theater but steals himself and remains outside. It would not do to have Mera accosted by any 'fan' and their leading star unable to continue on with their performance. Tal declines to answer the questions as he lets the more charismatic and flambouyant Mera do all the talking for him. Once it seems clear though that no one is doing anything other than hanging on Mera's every word then he quickly leaves the scene.

Once inside Tal hurries to take his place and folows along as best he can. The day was dreadful by any standard and even the initial yelling at Thesing and Delour do not bring any reprieve. His performance was worse that the day before which brought Tal his own barrage of verbal abuse from Robahl.

Fists clenched at his side it takes everything Tal has not to knock Robahl off his block as he retorts back, We are doing our best considering it is our lives on the line not yours. All you have on the line is your reputation. With that Tal marches offstage to mometarily cool himself off as he punches a hole in one of the walls.

When Mera brings up the idea that Thesing should be followed Tal seems agreeable to the idea even if he is not volunterring himself for the job. While the idea has merit to understand what he is up to I feel like I would not be the right person. I stand out in the crowd too much. Perhaps one of others might be able to follow him quietly. That is unless Naberius has some magic trick up his sleeve to tail him and determine his direction and actions.

Mera shines once again during the performance, making sure to catch the attention of Robahl as much as possible. If there were a way to draw the attention of her companions she would eagerly do so, alas, she just hopes they are surviving this. Tal, despite not having been trained manages to put forth a better effort today than poor Calsenica.

At the rehearsals:

For once, stress ends up working for Naberius. He focuses less on slavishly following the script, and basically ends up trying to imitate what Mera is doing, which is somewhat apparent in his performance. Still, he acts a lot better than before, seeming more natural and at ease with his character's witticisms.

When they had a chance to talk privately Tal was glad to hear that Tuesday and Vasco could do the reconnaissance. It was more their specially and tAl would gladly give them the opportunity. Would allow him to focus on the play itself and focus on surviving the madness that the performance demanded.

Robahl repeats the question. Where was I? Where was I? O yes! Mr. Raveen! You seemed to do better yesterday when you were being groped and kissed. Perhaps I should have Garrald rehearse with you tomorrow? After Tal's outburst, Robahl continues to be unfazed. One off in tears, another off in anger. Sometimes I forget how temperamental you actors are!

Mera, Again! Words fail me to describe how truly wonderful your performance today was!

Maybe she shouldn't show up for the rest of the week since she is so perfect! Thesing mutters under his breath.

Robahl turns to Naberius. You sir, are a revelation! Your performance is like night and day! Have you been practicing with Mera? Keep up the good work sir! Yes! Yes!

He next turns his gaze to Monday. Your performance is still Meh. I do not know where your mind is at, but it is not on the show! That is for certain!

Robahl finally turns to Tuesday. Perhaps you are something more than glorified scenery! Your performance was better, but still not great. Let's see how you do tomorrow!

With that the director turns, yells, Millech! and hurries off the stage.

After the rehearsal

Thesing leaves the theater trying hard not to be noticed.

She makes her way off stage and regroups with her companions. "I was not intending to follow him for fear of being spotted by him or another. I think Vasco going was a good idea. I'm afraid if Tuesday goes that Monday may need to expose herself, but he may be a good option as well. What do you think?"

Having stormed off to cool himself Tal does his best to not flinch as Robahl mentions Gerard rehearsing with him tomorrow. All it does though is make Tal want to punch the set even more. As soon as rehearsal is over Tal gathers his personal effects, waves good bye to the group and storms off home. He knew that one of them would be following Thesing and as it wasn't him it didn't matter which it would be. Good night and I will see you in the morning. Spradsheet finally updated with Tal's warhammer and the scroll purchased.

Tal walks wearily to his house and tries not ot think about the grind of the day and the bleak perspective of the following days. the outlook was not too reassuring as threats did not work and only made things worse. Tal was seriously considering calling in sick the following day just to relax and go to the forge. The thought of the forge did draw his interest as he made his way there instead. If he was to go through with the charade of this play then he would profit from it. Once there...

RichD:

Tal creates a sign promoting the play and the blacksmith at once. The sign reads 'The makers of arms and armors for the production of the Six Fold Trials of Larazod'

NARRATOR GS Map / SS MAP/

Calsenica looks at Monday confused. Dabbles with devils? Why would someone dabble with devils? As far as Mr. Robahl, I guess I deserved it. I had such a good day yesterday that I didn't prepare today and it showed. I don't blame Robahl, he just wants the best from us. Yes! I am going to prepare all night if I have to! When Thesing comes a'knocking, I am going to send him away!

Meanwhile at Tal's blacksmith, his new sign is drawing much interest. A large crowd gathers to read it and excited questions are uttered.

Do ya think they will all die?

I heard the trials are real, and they will be using real arms and armor! No wooden, blunted weapons.

Do you think this guy knows any of the actors? I heard Mera Wist-Thrune is in it and she can give me a trial any time!

Speak for yourself! Thesing Umbero makes my heart a'flutter!

Ohhh! Maybe he has some of the weapons used for the play on hand!

Tal sees much foot traffic through the blacksmith and receives many orders for weapons 'like those that will be used in the play'. Of course the most popular items requested are duplicates of the weapons used by noble Larazod!

Arching a brow slightly at the mention of Thesing, Monday quickly hides it with a bright countenance. "Thatta girl! You are a wonderful performer, just keep it up and you will continue to shine, onstage and off. As for Thesing, yes you should part with someone who doesn't appreciate you, why, he didn't even say anything in your defense when Robahl went off. He may be a great actor but his personage needs work."

"Also the invitation to practice with Mera is still open, if you would to prefer to practice on your onstage love interest? Besides, while staying up is commendable you should still rest when you need to."

With the orders pouring in for rapiers to mimic Larazod, Tal goes to see the master smith while at the forge. I would like you to make a rapier for me if time allows. It needs to be well crafted and finely balanced. If you have such a blade already made then that is perfect. I would just need you to make some slight alterations to it as I want it to be unique in the handle and guard. I want people to be able to recognize it on sight and know that it was the blade that Larazod used in the play. If you can pull this off and the play goes well then we will be in business for quite some time. In fact we will have enough orders that I may need to hire another person to help around here in addition to trying to find a replacement for you when you leave.

I still will hold to our agreement and in 5+ months once Ermolos is done training with you then I will not ask you to stay any longer.

This is day 5 of Tal owning the business correct? Not that the income is that much but I will just record it once we are done with the play for paperwork reasons if that is ok with you.

The stage is not the only place he puts on a great performance! Calsenica says with a chuckle. Her face then turns a bright scarlet. I usually do not say things like that! she continues to blush. Perhaps I should see if Mera hasn't left for dinner and if she has time to go over some lines. Thank you very much for your kind words!

She then goes and looks for Mera. If Mera is still in the theater she will ask if Mera has some time to rehearse.

At the Blacksmith

The master smith strokes his long, white beard as he considers Tal's request. I saw the commotion outside. For a minute there I thought the Hellknights were gonna hang someone! He then shuffles over to a workbench where he has several blades in various stages of completeness. He rummages through them until he finds the blade he is looking for. The blade is missing a hilt. He holds it up to where his eye can look down the edge. His face gives a quick smile as he flips the blade over and does the same with the other edge. He then holds the blade in both hands and raises them up in down as his mental scale does the weighing. After another quick smile he hands the blade to Tal. What'd ya think of this? - be honest! I did not last this long in this business by having people blow embers up me chimney! As Tal examines the blade the Smith will continue. All it needs is a hilt and I can make one unique enough that anyone in the audience will recognize! I heard this Larazod is a tiefling? Maybe I'll make it tieflingly! Maybe etch some 'infernal' runes on the blade. I don't speak that demon language so it won't actually be infernal - just what I think infernal would look like! The smith says as he pictures the finished blade in his mind. I'll have it ready for you tomorrow. MW Rapier

Tal hems and haws at the idea of infernal etching on the hilt. While you may have a point in providing the hilt with infernal etchings I would avoid any ties to a tiefling. I trust your judgement on the matter and will be ready to see the finished product. I will be around tomorrow to pay for the materials and the blade.

I hope this 320gp investment pays off in the long run, lol.

Not unexpectedly, Naberius has the most trouble acting out the Trial of Pleasure. Improvising a rendition of the Tallis and his Three Wives proves especially problematic, as lewd folks songs are quite far from the aristocratic conjurer's usual repertoire. It isn't long before Robahl finds something he is not happy with. As Delour, playing the bailiff keeps stumbling over the name Paraduke Montigny Handerthan. She mistakenly calls him 'Marmaduke' another time she says 'Handerhan' Each take causes Robahl to scream even louder Paraduke Montigny Handerthan. At each mispronunciation of his character’s name, Thesing sighs more audible and rolls his eyes. When she finally gets it right, Robahl says, Thank Desna! We can finally move on! Delour seems quite rattled by the experience for the rest of the day.

Naberius as Dentris only stumbles once, instead of saying 'Summon his wiles', Naberius says 'Summon his wives'. Luckily for Naberius he manages to deliver the line flawlessly thereafter causing Robahl to give him approving nods. After the third take, Robahl raises his hand and says, Enough! I am satisfied that it was only a little slip-up and that you have command over your dialogue. The 'praise' helps Naberius turn in a great performance for the rest of the day.

Thesing gives a lackluster performance which results in angry stares from Robahl. When he delivers the line:

'Curse your persistence. All lies eventually reveal their ugly fangs. I shall draw them as venom from a wound.'

It is delivered with such a lack of enthusiasm that Robahl holds up his hand to stop the performance. He has Thesing deliver the line several times and shouts, More Feeling! after each take. Whether he is annoyed with this constant repetition, or is truly starting to act, Thesing delivers the line with much gusto. Robahl is finally satisfied and allows the production to continue, but Thesing falls right back into his lethargic acting.

Monday misses her cue to say 'Madness'. Robahl glares at her and says, Wherever your mind is my dear, but it isn't here! Monday doesn't miss her cue after several attempts, but she does miss other cues throughout the day. Each time Robahl says, Amoureux! Where has your little mind gone now?! and stomps his foot loudly.

When Calsenica delivers the line:

'Gladly! I stand at this tiefling’s side, or at his back, or him at mine, or perhaps I should bolster him up from below or allow him to do the same to me. You shall see how devotedly I attend his pleasure, for he speaks the truth.'

Robahl feels she lacks conviction. You are stating how innocent Larazod is, but I am not feeling it! Calsenica momentarily looks like she is going to tear up, but a look of resolve replaces it. She then delivers the line in such a way that everyone feels the conviction. Robahl has a surprised visage and mutters, Now that is what I'm talking about. Good girl! Calsnica delivers the rest of her lines with conviction and passion. Earning pleased smiles from Robahl.

Robahl thinks that Tuesday is not convincing as either a dwarf or an ally of Larazod. He yells several times at him to Look alive back there! But after several blank stares Robahl finally gives up. I can see while many productions have had this role eliminated! He mutters under his breath.

After the first run through of the play, Robahl says to Tal, Very good, but I am concerned with your use of the lash in Act two. I realize you don't want to hurt anyone, but if you don't even get close, no one will believe it. I want to do the act again and this time I want to believe the lash is actually ripping their flesh! After several attempts, Tal gets a little closer, but it is still not believable to Robahl. You will be lucky if the audience doesn't storm the stage after that, but overall good job.

Once a break is in order TAl leaves the theater to go to the nearest market. Minutes later he returns with a live pig on a leash. Leading it to the main stage he leaves the pig there as he draws his longsword. Robahl, you want blood and gore. Here you go. I will not lay the lash upon anyone here during rehearsal no matter what you yell or shout or threaten.

With that Tal brings the sword down in a mighty powerful chop separating the head from the body. He then steps to the side grabbing the whip and proceeds to flay the dead pig. I have no problems hitting when I choose to. Dropping the whip Tal storms off stage to clean himself from the gore.

Monday looks on in shock as as the poor porcine is butchered. "Aww, poor little piggy. Was that necessary Mr. Raveen, or are you getting comfortable in that mask? Couldn't you have just used Thesing instead?"

If Robahl is shocked by Tal's demonstration with the pig, he doesn't show it. He just mutters under his breath Actors! The only sound that is heard is Garrald vomiting off stage. That prompts Robahl to shout, Mister Garrald! Once you are done cleaning up your own mess, clean up this pig!

Delour mutters Oh My! while Calsenica swoons like she is going to faint. Thesing has a look of utter flabbergation. When he hears Monday mention his name he replies with a shocked Hey!. As he notices all eyes on him, he regains his composure. I assure you, Ms. Amoureux when I am whipped, it is for pleasure. You, on the other hand, are probably whipped by horse traders to keep you away from their stock.

Delour gives another Oh My! while Calsenica continues to swoon. whether it is still from the spectacle of the pig, or Thesing's explicit comment, no one can say.

Monday just rolls her eyes. "I was referring to losing one's head, perhaps both of them. But the more I look at the poor swine he would make an excellent double for you sir. As for leather lickings and horses, I find it quite telling your mind goes to a creature your exact opposite."

Tal gives Monday a look when she mentions Raveen and masks. No I do not prefer to hide behind masks typically. I would prefer to be done with all of this charade and move on to the actual performance. Indeed I don't think the audience will mind as long as there is plenty of blood splashed upon the stage. Perhaps we should keep a couple of pigs in the wings so between acts they can butcher them to apply a fresh coat of blood to the stage.

Frustrated at the whole thing Tal drops the whip on the ground. I refuse to use this again on a creature until the actual performace. There is nothing to be gain from almost whipping Mera. If you want me to practice then set of a fake target for me to aim at.

Softly to Monday but loud enough to have Thesing hear, I might make an exception though if Thesing is the target.

"Aww, poor little piggys," Monday murmurs, though she does nod her head in agreement with Tal on that last suggestion.

Maybe it's the fact that she is a little bored in rehearsal today or maybe it had something to do with the inability to gather any information on Thesing's nocturnal activities that has her on edge. Regardless of motive, Mera drops the blade in her hand to the stage with a loud clang.

Perform Sing: 1d20 + 14 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 14 + 3 = 22

She dances across the stage as she sings the line from one of her song. She quickly closes the gap and ends up directly in front of Thesing, getting directly in his face. Along the way she casts Daze on him, hiding her spell in the performance across the stage. DC15 if you care. Once across the stage she lowers her voice down to a whisper as she leans in until her forehead is less than an inch away from his nose. Her voice turns gutteral and she speaks through clenched teeth. "Let me make this crystal clear for you Thesing you obnoxious, untalented, waste of space. I've had absolutely enough of your little pompous b!$@%#&* and if you so much as utter one more ill word to Ms. Amoureux then the only performance you will ever be involved with again is in a puppet show in the sanitarium for bastards. She leans back and pats his should twice in a comforting fashion. When she takes note that people are staring at her she shrugs and smiles, "He forgot his line, I was giving him encouragement to remember it."

On the way back to her original location she winks at Monday and then resumes where she left off, picking up her blade.

Monday grins widely and winks back at Mera, withholding the urge to begin enthusiastically clapping.

Thesing Will save DC15: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Thesing feels momentarily dazed during Mera's performance, but he shakes it off. He smirks back when she delivers her threat and when she is done, he gives an exaggerated yawn. Well if we are now doing out-of-tune singing and cheap insults, then I believe I will take my leave. I am a world-class actor and have no reason to stay to be insulted or be 'amused' by bad singing. It is a good thing Delour is doing the singing instead of you, Mera, or else the audience will leave before the first act!

Hey! Leave me out of this! Delour interjects.

Are we done, Robahl? Thesing asks with an air of impatience.

With the sound of Garrald retching as he cleans up the pig, Robahl sees no intention of continuing with the rehearsal. Yes, I think we are done. Unless someone wants to continue to rehearse again?

Thesing does not wait to see if anyone volunteers and he quickly walks off the stage and out the door. Calsenica continues to swoon and Delour says, Not I!

While Vasco is momentarily distracted by the smell of corn, Thesing expertly blends into the crowd and disappears from view.

Ugh! As a DM these great stealth rolls are ruining my story-telling mojo!
