Pirknok Stonemight |
Pirknok roars wordless assent at Krojun's question, hefting his sword with both hands and preparing to strike. His thoughts are not coherent enough to realize that the esteemed Thundercaller is probably talking about magic. Delay, if Krojun's gonna do something speshul. Keep in mind I'll have to try to save against it, though. :(

Okay, time to slish.
Pirknok grunts in angry disappointment as Krojun's magicks fail to take hold. Striding forward, he focuses his anger toward the destruction of the evil man's minion!

Jessamy pelts one of the humorous oozes with arrows 'wounding' the unnatural thing.
Pirknok follows suit, chopping and slashing the animate puddle of phlem until there's nothing left but a few quivering strands.
Ensu's wasps continue providing an excellent distraction but they don't seem to be doing any real damage to the hideous obese spellcaster.

Okay, let's finish this up. Siolad, feel free to jump in whenever you can.
Jordimandus's eyes grow wide in surprise when Siolad's summoned angel charges through the air to strike him. Her tail fails to overcome his magical wards but her blade pierces his rubbery flesh twice eliciting a groan of pain.
Desperate to fend off the heroes' mounting assault, he struggles to overcome the stinging wasps and finish a spell.

Going to call the fight. Jordimandus is just dying by inches at this point.
After a long hard fought battle, the party finally brings the obese spellcaster to his knees. As Jordimandus breathes his last breath, the black tumorous heart falls free from the exposed cavity in his chest and to the ground where it rapidly shrivels until it's no larger than an acorn. With their master dead, the founts of elemental humor stop flowing as well leaving the room silent save the breathing of the assembled heroes.

"Well, that was exciting. Good job with the bees, Ensu. They may have saved us!" Jessamy says.
She starts taking a closer look around.

Pirknok watches the shriveling heart with revulsion mixed with interest. When Ensu speaks up, he rouses himself and yawns. "Those goopy things got me a bit," he admits.
Down 53... we wanding or casting?
Jessamy Pierce |
Not sure; do we still have more to explore, GM? I've gotten kind of lost as to where things stand in here. I know we're nearing completion of the area. Also, I've only got Ensu down 17. Did I miss damage in there?
Pirknok Stonemight |
He took 17 from me... I think he might've gotten hit once here as well? I guess the rest of my damage was self-inflicted.

DM Feral |
Having become at least partially accustomed to the layer of filth that covers everything in this wing of the Runeforge, Jessamy diligently searches the late Jordimandus and his throne.
She finds assorted arcane paraphernalia which quickly catches Siolad's eye but more importantly a thick well-filled journal. It's written in Thassilonian and will take a few hours to parse without the aid of magic.
Other loot: rod of absorption, rod of giant summoning (greater), and pearls of power 3, 4, and two 5s.
Finding little else of interest, the party retreats to the Runeforge's central hub and ventures down the southwest hallway.
Initially the hallway is much like the others in the Runeforge until worked stone gives way to a series of immaculately polished mirrors flanking the way forward. Powerful magic pours off the mirrors so heavily that even the untrained can sense it.
Pirknok Stonemight |
Dorf and Jess can read Thassilonian!
Pirknok shudders and takes a step back, unwilling to walk before the mirrors. "They look like the Mirrors of Souls," he comments. "And they give me a real bad feeling... like they're watchin' us. Can we smash 'em?"
Siolad Andosana |
Yep. Just... going through a period of motivation problems.
Siolad, having been oddly quiet for a while, finally decides to apply his repertoire of knowledge to the mirrors.
Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (18) + 21 = 39
Jessamy Pierce |
"I think Pirknok's right. We should smash them. And hope they then don't make swarms of little us-es," Jessamy says. Aw; I love when adventures make PCs fight themselves.
"Maybe we should stand back when we smash them and then only have one of us go forward at a time. Who'd be easiest to stop in battle?" I was going to say myself since I need flanking to really be dangerous and don't have much in the way of spells, but ... these could potentially flank if more than one me is created.
Once everyone's backed up as far as we can, she'll look for some pieces of rubble she can use to chuck at the mirrors. Obviously start with just one and wait to see what happens, but if nothing obviously bad, she'll continue.
DM Feral |
The corridor opens into an immense cathedral of polished ivory flagstones. Mirrored walls rise to a height of nearly a hundred feet, where the vaulted ceiling arches majestically. Four immense chandeliers hang from golden chains and brightly illuminate the entire room. At the center of the cathedral, a three-step dais of polished wood supports a peacock the size of a wyvern, its feathers spread regally behind it. The creature’s eyes seem to hold a great depth of wisdom and intelligence.
Six identical immaculately dressed human men with shoulder-length blond hair pace the length of the room, stopping when the party enters.
They speak with one sonorous voice in Thassilonian, “The master is in study — he is not to be disturbed. Please keep noise to a minimum or you will be punished.”
Pirknok Stonemight |
Pirknok stares, too, but his gaze is locked unwaveringly on the statue. Without seeming to be aware of it, he takes a few steps forward, eyes wide and full of awe. "Makirav...?" he whispers, slowly stepping toward the statue again. "Kak...? Namivakira..."
A slight shudder passes across the dwarven frame as Pirknok continues dreamily forward, toward the dais and the magnificent statue thereon.
