Selena Magnimar |
Selena uses the scroll in her hand to enchant Rumilda. Hooefully this does the trick for you Tunder. Make it count!
She then steps back to be next to Seldon and his waves of positive power. Keep it up Seldon they can't handle that much longer.
Tunder Stonepeak |
Tunder recoils from the shadows touch. "Thanks, lass. Hope your help helps." He attacks back with a powerful swipe and backswing.

DM DoctorEvil |
Alright, this is my third try posting this. The servers keep dropping.
Crypt - Round 2 - continued
Selena reads from the scroll in her hands, enchanting Tunder's war axe. The dwarf obliges by smashing his weapon into the shadow in front of him twice. While the newly magical bladed doesn't fully harm the shadow, it does enough damage to disperse Red Shadow.
Seldon calls once again on Desna's righteousness, and the power of positive energy fills the space, damaging the remaining shadow some, but not fully.
Shaking off the blast of energy, Blue Shadow continues to reach for Barek who has taken a full defensive stance trying to avoid contact with the phantasm. The fighter is able to dodge the touch once again.
Blue Shadow Will, channel resist: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 2 = 24
Blue Shadow touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Mirela and Barek are up. Not sure if they have anything cooking against the last shadow.
Tunder Stonepeak |
"Torag's Beard! That was fun. Get back, Barek. I'll finish that one off too." Tunder will (ideally) move to the square Barek vacates and attacks.

Selena Magnimar |
Selena holds off on casting another spell as it seems Uptunder has everything well in hand. If he needs the help though selena will ready to cast magic missile is the shadow does not dissolve after his attacks.

Crypt - Round 3 - concluded
21 Selena
16 Seldon
15 Tunder
14 Blue Shadow (5hp dmg)
13 Mirela
9 Barek
Before the shadow can react, Tunder slides in next to the undead creature and cuts loose with his temporarily enchanted war-axe once again. The dwarven ranger scores a tremendous hit, cutting through the incorporeal shadow and disintegrating it in one stroke.
End of Combat
Defeating the three shadows earns the party 600xp per player. That moves the cumulative total to 16227/23000 or about 15% to next level.
Seldon Swiftheel |
"Is anybody hurt?"
Looks like Tunder only got hit for 1 damage, which had no effect and heals naturally. What a lucky break!.
Selena Magnimar |
Excellent job all. That could have gone poorly quickly if those shadows had sapped our strength. As it was we are little worse off than before outside of some channels and a few spells used. Hopefully we do not have need of any more magic weapons as that was my last scroll of magic weapon.. Thinking on her options Selena takes stock of the situation, Give me about 15 minutes though and i can prepare another such spell for use. If we wish to press on though to maximize the effectiveness of Seldon's Magic circle spell then we should proceed onward. looking at the rest, The choice is up to you all as it matters not to me.
Seldon I am fine thanks. Again they never came after me thanks to Tunder and Barek occupying all of their attention.
Barek Hisdren |
Barek smacks his fist into his hand in frustration. "I couldn't do anything to help you all back there! We need to be careful of creatures like that. Tunder, Miri, we're going to need to find some magic to help us. Without Selena or Seldon, we would have been sitting ducks just waiting for them to feed on us!" He growls.
"Let's press on for now. Seldon's magic will hold for a bit longer. If we find ourselves in a bind, we can try to fall back."
Seldon Swiftheel |
"Agreed. Care to take point?"
Mirela Malvo |
Kicking some stones around while the others investigate, Mirela muses "You know, we've pretty much cleared this place out... with some elbow grease, this place could be rehabilitated for some use." Looking around at the decor, Mirela thinks twice and laughs "Scratch that thought, this place is awful... we about done here?"
Barek Hisdren |
Barek nods. "Yeah, I'm about done with this place. Nualia was insane to be seeking this kind of power." He looks around nervously as if he expects another shadow to appear.
Selena Magnimar |
Breathing a sigh of relief Selena looks at the rest. Let us move on from here as it seems that this is the last of it. I believe that Sheriff Hemlock should be informed of the cleansing of this place. Hopefully the threat is gone and with that demon thing gone as well hopefully there will no longer be any drive for others to use this place for nefarious means.
Stopping short in her tracks she looks around again as a realization hit her. Perhaps we have missed something though in our search. It might be best if we remain here tonight and tomorrow to further search the entire structure more thoroughly. Perhaps Seldon can divine more about this place in the morning when he prays for his god's blessings in the morning.
The idea that came to Selena is, now that this place is cleared out then nothing is preventing them on following up on Foxglove and going to Magnimar.
Seldon Swiftheel |
One Final Search: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
If Seldon doesn't turn anything up... "... No, we have tarried here too long. We must make for Magnimar before these Skinsaw Men have word of Aldern's passing."
Mirela Malvo |
Shuddering upon hearing Aldern's name spoken, Mirela glances over at Seldon "I'm with Seldon on this... whomever was behind the Foxglove fiasco needs to be dealt with."
Heading towards the exit, Mirela pauses and grins as she looks over at Tunder and adds "Of course, there is always time for loot."
DM DoctorEvil |
Seldon's second search comes up with no new findings than those done before. Agreeing that there is little else to explore here, the party starts their way up and out of the ancient ruins below the goblin stockade.
Moving quickly but carefully through the dungeon, the party soon emerges from the underground complex and out onto the surface of Thistletop. The sun shows the time to be late in the afternoon, leaving just enough time to hustle to Sandpoint before darkness falls.
Assume that's where you are headed?
Seldon Swiftheel |
Works for me! It's en route to Magnimar, at least.
DM DoctorEvil |
The weary travelers navigate back to the mainland, and through the Nettlewood without difficulty. The road back to Sandpoint is quiet and the land is still. The sun is just setting behind the Old Light as you make your way back to Northgate. The sentries salute and allow you pass without challenge.
The town is mostly back to normal after the attack, save for a few still in mourning for their lost family members. A few people wave or call out for the Heroes of Sandpoint as you return to your lodgings at The Rusty Dragon.
Lars pours frothy mugs of ale and Bethany and Morris wait on, serving a fine rich mutton stew for dinner. The normal entertainment provided by Ameiko is missing, as once again, the glassworks' heiress is not seen in the inn.
Will move on to next day unless you have other things to do. There are few items in teh loot tracker to sell if you want, or any other business before heading off to Magnimar next day. Do you want to sail or ride down to the big city?
Selena Magnimar |
Selena smiles with a grim satisfaction as the last of hte lair is cleared out. It was a dangerous task but also one that provided a feeling of accomplishment and self satisfaction. Even though she was from Magnimar Sandpoint already had a place in her heart and by removing one threat made the town that much safer for all.
The trek to SAndpoint was quicker than she wanted though as thoughts of their next destination bothered her. She would have to make certain arrangements if possible and even then must be on guard. Talkative at first to the others she quiets down as the lights of Sandpoint are seen. Finally gong through the gates she says farewell to the others, Shee you in the morning by the docks! Hopefully there is as hip that can take us the next stage of the journey, as she makes her way to her own inn. At least that is what she tries to make it appear. Instead she make her way to the magic shop as she desperately needs to purchase at least 1 scroll but hopefully 3.
Selena is wanting to purchase 3 scrolls of alter self and enough reagents to create a hat of disguise. If there is only 1 scroll available then she will buy that and scribe it that night. In the morning she will prepare the spell to make it available for the creation of hte hat.
Barek Hisdren |
Barek smiles as they reenter Sandpoint, glad they are out of the Thistletop demonic horrors and through with the Foxglove manor. He waves to Selena as she heads off to her bed for the evening. The fighter enter the Rusty Dragon Inn amid waves and handshakes. By the time a piping hot bowl of stew is delivered to him, he's already downed three ales and feels much more sedate.
He looks over to his companions to remain. "So we make for Magnimar tomorrow? There's some stuff to sell, but I figure we can do that in the morning. Tunder, I think both of us should have eyes of some magic to help us in case we run into things like the shadow creatures again." He pauses, looking at his solid, but unmagical fists. "You might have more luck there than me."
I say boat, just to have variety. Barek isn't quite able to afford an Amulet of Mighty Fists, but he's getting close.
Seldon Swiftheel |
Is it that taking into account Selena's ability to Craft Wondrous Items?
Selena Magnimar |
I don't know how much downtime there is while we are traveling. I am hoping for at least 3 days as selena can finish her project and also make a wand of cure light for Seldon to use. Beyond that Firt come first serve given enough time.
Seldon Swiftheel |
We could split the cost of the wand to make it 75gp apiece once we have adequate downtime. That should cover our healing needs for a good while.
Seldon will call on Rynshinn at the clothing store as the sun sets, offering to help her close shop before returning to the Dragon.
Mirela Malvo |
Visibly relieved to be back in safe harbor for the night, Mirela gladly partakes in the ale and mutton stew. After spending some time in the Red Dragon, Mirela notes that absence of Ameiko "Seems quiet here; the company and the food are great, but certainly it seems to lack something without her here."
Glancing over at Barek with a nod, Mirela adds "Magnimar it is then." Slightly pulling her rapier forward without drawing it from its sheath, the young Acrobat responds with a frown "You two aren't the only ones with weapon issues; if we fight the walking dead again, my blade is about as useful as your bare fists."
DM DoctorEvil |
Selena is able to procure a copy of a scroll of Disguise Self from the magic shop in Sandpoint, The Feathered Serpent. The proprietor, Vorvashali Voon, says he can likely create two more given time, perhaps as soon as tomorrow morning before departure.
The cost of the other materials for a Hat of Disguise costs 900gp. These are also available at the magic shop.
Looks like Selena has 1083gp or so right now, so that will take her down below 200. Okay? I billed you for the first scroll, but if you still want the two others, please make a note of it. Per the crafting rules, this will take almost two days of time to complete. I will submit that staying your ship's berth will provide a "quiet place" to do the work, provided you are free of distractions (eg, pirate attacks) or storms. Heh-heh.
I need the role to scribe the scroll into your spellbook, if that's what you choose. Let's have any further discussion about crafting items in Discussion.
DM DoctorEvil |
With their gear in hand, the party heads for the docks of Sandpoint Harbor and is quickly able to land a berth on a cog headed to Magnimar. The captain, a tall handsome fellow named Laban, is so happy to have the Heroes of Sandpoint aboard, he waives any form of payment.
"Just tell everyone you chose the Saltspray when you needed to travel and that'll be all the payment I need. I expect my fares will double thanks to you all."
Laban and his crew seem capable enough and the berths of the Saltspray are clean, dry and cozy, if a little cramped. The cruise is scheduled to leave around noon today, docking back in Magnimar in two days time.
At the appointed hour, you are shown aboard and your gear is stowed for the journey. The cog is carefully guided out of the harbor, and when it hits the open water, the sails are raised and the ship seems to leap from the water following the prevailing winds. It is not long before the Old Light, the highest building in Sandpoint, fades into the horizon. The rugged cliffs of the Wild Coast pass by on your left side, the point where old Foxglove Manor lies malevolently, in full view.
The day passes uneventfully. Calm seas prevail and the weather is good for the first day out of port. Selena spends most of the time below decks working feverishly on her new item. The rest take their turns on the deck, the sea air bracing and invigorating.
All look forward to the challenge ahead in Magnimar.
Not sure if there is anything else you want to do or add on board, but feel free to post and we'll move on to the next day.
Selena Magnimar |
Selena almost curses the favorable wind as she feels the ship pick up speed. Normally more reserved in her emotions the trip and the pending destination fills her with concern. When not working on her new item she habitually flips through her spell book looking for ways to maximize her abilities once they reach Magnimar. she also starts to concoct what she believes is a convincing background should they be questioned.
Barek Hisdren |
Barek lounges on the deck of the ship, happy to take in the sea air. He greets many of the sailor and shakes anyone's hand who wants to meet and talk to The Heroes of Sandpoint. He watches the Foxglove Manor go by with a wary eye, almost as if the house itself were to jump out and attack them on the open sea. When it goes out of view, he breathes a sigh of relief.
Tunder Stonepeak |
"No goblins, no gold, and, now, no ground. The gods have forsaken me. If dwarves were meant to sail we would have been born with boats. Tell me again why we couldn't take the road to Magnimar? I could have rode Stomper." Tunder does not find sea travel to his liking. He endures it with the legendary dwarven stoicism, though.
Mirela Malvo |
When Captain grants them free passage, Mirela winks at him as she climbs aboard "Thank-you Cap'n, you're generosity won't be forgotten."
Smiling and forever socializing with the crew, Mirela appears to enjoy the trip at sea. Only when they boat passes Misgivings does she grow quiet and dissonant, folding her arms around herself protectively. As she stares at the mansion, she shivers and whispers "I hope that nightmarish house falls into the ocean."
As the house falls out of sight Mirela appears herself once more, and responds to Tunders grouching with a measure of cheekiness "Oh cheer up old boy, a little adventure at sea is nothing compared to what we've seen so far... besides, it's a hell of a lot faster than traveling by foot!"
DM DoctorEvil |
The day ends with everyone healthy and happy and the ship making good time on the way down the coast to Magnimar.
Overnight, much to Selena's delight, the winds drop, and soon the Saltspray is quiet in the water, slowly making way instead of flying along.
Laban is a bit depressed as he reports to his honored passengers. "Thought we might be looking at a record run to Magnimar, but this stillness ruins that. Hope it doesn't last too long or we have to put the dwarf out in the johnny boat to row us the rest of the way."
The next day, the wind doesn't pick up, and the doldrums continue.
Selena Magnimar |
As the ship stalls under the dying winds Selena gives a brief prayer to the gods for the respite. No longer does she have to work as hard to complete her task but she is still diligent about it. Her manner has warmed up a bit and when people knock on the door to see how she is doing she no longer shouts at them that she is busy. Instead she politely asks, Just a little bit longer and then I will be able to come out. Don't worry though, I am feeling better now. Perhaps I will join you for supper tonight. I should be available by then.
Indeed that night she comes out of her room to eat with the others not even noticing that they had past the Foxglove Manor. On her head is a new hat with a larger rim to protect her from any sun that might be trying to burn her skin. If any of the men ask she simple smiles and tells them, As Miri would know, a woman must always be prepared for any occasion. Why I might even try a new hair color next before we get to our destination.
