WHAT?!!?

Under what circumstances would you be losing Serithtial in any way...outside of over your dead body!? The only way that Seri should be away from you is after you die to 20 Balrogs and 2 Pit Fiends.

If you have Seri, this is *NO* backup.

For party shares, I think we need to liquidate Fondo's items, all save Seri, of course.

That would be awesome- Fondo in a barrel, wielding Seri. Great picture.

Also have Boots of the Cat - Price 1,000 gp; Aura faint transmutation; CL 1st; Weight 1 lb.

These high-soled blue boots provide a great deal of comfort and arch support while also making the wearer appear a little bit taller than normal. The boot's wearer always takes the minimum possible damage from falls (as if the GM had rolled a 1 on each die of damage incurred by the fall) and at the end of a fall always lands on his feet.

First Aid Gloves:
These fingerless gloves of white cloth have a sapphire decorating the base of each exposed finger, numbering 10 in all.

The wearer of a pair of first aid gloves can, as a standard action, cast any of the following spells (caster level 9th), permanently expending a number of sapphires equal to the spell's level (as denoted in parentheses after each spell): breath of life (5), cure critical wounds (4), cure light wounds (1), cure moderate wounds (2), cure serious wounds (3), and mass cure light wounds (5).

When casting a spell from the gloves, the wearer can't expend sapphires on different hands, thus only a full hand's worth of gems can be used to cast breath of life or mass cure light wounds. Regardless, both gloves must be worn to function.

Once all of the sapphires are expended, a pair of first aid gloves becomes non-magical.

Not sure how long we're staying in Kaer Maga. Nikolay's only priority is to get his headband of vast intelligence improved from +2 to +4. He has enough to buy a new and sell the old if it's available and there in a rush.

Other shopping might include:
- upgrading cloak of resistance from +1 to +2.
- Vambraces of Defense - Price 6,000 gp
- More potions/scroll of lesser restoration. I need to account for the ones I purchased when we last left Korvosa.

If we're staying for a while, it might be time to craft a new wand of BoF. I'm not sure how many charges we have left.

Just keeping track of proposed activities:

* Reclaim the Warrens
* Destroy one or all of the statues as a public display of defiance
* Proposing some alliance with the Sklar and/or other Shoanti (Charlie does Sending and Fondo negotiates?)
* Check in with Vencarlo (sending by Charlie?)
* Check in with the Seneschal (sending by Charlie?)
* Crafting?

Other dangling issues
* Dealing with the false BlackJack
* Tracking down Cressida Kroft
* Any ideas about helping Old Korvosa?

Fondo will likely purchase some illusion scrolls for Deyanira to learn, as well as material components. These could be used to disguise our activities in Korvosa, make the Warrens or Vault areas look unoccupied, etc.

I forget whether we ever carved an access point from the Warrens into the Vault catacombs.

Vencarlo and the Senescahl were together, so you might kill two birds with one sending if it's worded right. Cressida Kroft could also be a sending. You certainly know her well enough.

- - -

As I recall, there are three 'exits' from the Warrens.

1) Secret door to the main House. That door and wall, and a bit down the tunnel were sealed by Briar's stone shape.

2) A very narrow hallway leading out of the Warren to the west. Also sealed (long ago) during the construction of the Warren.

3) A hallway leading out to the east. This hall ended in an iron door. To the best of my knowledge (it's been a while), the door was unopened and sealed. The party does not know if it leads to a small chamber, or deeper in the catacombs. That said, if it does lead to the Vaults, Eries should be able to track to it.

Most likely it leads to the Catacombs under Pharasma's boneyard - a nasty nest of burials dating all the way back to the original Shoanti times. Not even the Pharasma Priests who guard over these burial grounds know all the tunnels and passages. Eries might not get lost, but she'll likely be attacked by undead - not her best opponent.

Zellara does not make an appearance at the beginning of book 6 (which is where we are now) but the harrow bonuses do change.

For all the gory details on what you can now do, visit the Campaign Tab and scroll down near the bottom where it says Harrow Points. Remember that harrow point usage is an immediate action so you can force my re-rolls when you are being targeted or an ally. The first two uses for harrow points are for yourself only as before. This is the last book in the AP, so don't be stingy. :)

Now the bad news. For those of you who had spirits wrapped around your soul protecting you from death, those spirits fade within a few days of the freeing of Scarwall. The Shaonti spirits were opposed to Scarwalls existence in the form it was in, and protected you during that work - but they do not serve you forever.

Further the spirits which bound to your weapons and armor providing ghost touch capabilities likewise abandon you. That may change some of the crafting you have in mind.

Harrow Points Totals
Charlie Buckminster - 5
Barael de Gare - 2
Briar the Lesser - 7
Dandilion Dreamstruck - 5
Nikolay Vasilevich - 7
Fondo Barondo - 2

Disintegrate (buy) 2010
False vision (buy) 1375
Dimension door 860
4 scrolls of heroism 750 (scribed)
=5,855 gp

Balance: 28,425 gp

I will hold off on more purchases until folks have made up there lists. If additinoal funds are needed, Fondo will chip in.

I do hope to come up with some solutions for flight/air walk and a boost to AC. Possibly a Pearl of Power 3 to get a copy of Magic Vestment from Briar. Potions of fly would be okay, but I'd prefer to find a reusable solution. Or a spellcaster who'd willing to save slots for fly or air walk...

Note to Nikolay: Deyanira could scribe you some scrolls of disintegrate, if that sounds like something you'd like to have on hand. I thought disintegrate be nice for the statues...

Apologies for my slow posts.

Trying to get a time to chitchat with Evilan.

I'll get caught up soon or email.

The trick for speedy crafting requires that the crafter be more skilled than normal. So, normal crafting takes 1 day per 1,000gp under construction. Speedy crafting takes 1 day per 2,000gp under construction, but you have to pay an extra 10% 'tip' to the crafter for their skills and time.

That extra 10% does not extend the duration - just the cost.

So Barael must wait 32 days (mwahahahahahahaha) and pay 32kgp or he can have it done in 16 days and pay 35.2kgp putting him further in debt to the party. I'm not going to get to the nitty gritty of who in town can speedily craft and who cannot - if you have the cash, all your purchases may be sped up in this way for convenience.

In some cases however I'll be adding 1 day to the crafting time (weapons do fall into that category) because Saul is contracting the work to Janderhoff. So if Barael wants to be all holy, he's going to delay the party 17 days total.

Ahh the joys of crafting.

Male Human (Init +7 | Per +16 | Fort +16 Ref +15 Will +11* +1 enchant, +4 language & sonic | AC 32 (f25/t19) | CMD36*)

Deyanira might be willing to teleport to Janderhoff to facilitate speedy crafting. If Vencarlo is still there, it'd be a twofer.

Fondo stirs from his revery about scrolls to notice Charlie taking a great from whiskeybreakfast. "Ah, yes. Might you first to Kroft relay our intent to serve and ask of her wellbeing and place? And then the same of our brave Vencarlo?

The extra day is already assuming Saul's doing sendings and teleports to get the stuff quickly. You doing the teleport would be cheaper if Saul wasn't already throwing it in as a friend.

The DM (hey that's me!) needs an actual worded sending from someone - Fondo, Charlie, someone. :)

Charlie has something like a half dozen sendings today I think, and he can also scry/message better than half the time for two way communication (though that's less 'trusted' as you don't know who you're whispering to).

You can open with a sending to let them know what's coming, then follow up with a scry an hour later for a brief conversation (with a little luck).

Male Human (Init +7 | Per +16 | Fort +16 Ref +15 Will +11* +1 enchant, +4 language & sonic | AC 32 (f25/t19) | CMD36*)

Once folks have made their shopping lists and noted what moneys they need, I'll look at spending what remains of Fondo's money. Deyanira will also be available for crafting for all but, say, 5 days (as Fondo plans to take her out on some diplomatic or relief missions).

Male Human (Per +18 | Fort +12 Ref +16 Will +12 | AC 24 (f 19/t 17)| CMD 30/f 25)

Barael's expenditures thus far:

Upgrading Black Tooth with Bane-Human: 10000gp
+1 Darkwood Shortbow: 2545gp
Crafting Dex Belt via Briar: 8000gp

Remaining Funds: 9473gp

If Barael sold his Boots of the Elvenkind(lame), he'd still be roughly 5K shy of purchasing Winged Boots. Unless someone crafted them, too :)

Male Human (Init +7 | Per +16 | Fort +16 Ref +15 Will +11* +1 enchant, +4 language & sonic | AC 32 (f25/t19) | CMD36*)

I'm not sure I can justify having Fondo sit on his hands for 12 or 24 days. The natural thing for him to do would be to muster forces. The main thing he needs to do with the NPCs is to get Neoloandus to agree to some alliance with the Sklar.

Instead of Winged Boots, what if we got a wand of air walk for 21,000 gp? Kill two flightless dodos with one stone. More expensive, but can cover both of our melee fightin' selves.

Hi everyone.

I am considering leaving the game at this point, or at least having Fondo leave.

I am finding that the kinds of ideas I enjoy exploring are repeatedly shot down of late, with an almost united front of PCs and/or their players. It may just be the way your PCs respond in-character (since they all seem to have developed mistrust towards Fondo), but it's making it hard to get what I enjoy out of the game.

I also just can't imagine the character of Fondo sticking around when the party consistently sides against him. Your PCs have their reasons to doubt or disagree with him, but I'm finding that the answer is most often 'no' laden with mistrust, rather than offering refinements to his suggestions.

Perhaps the situation is a result of my mistakes as a player. But I just don't think he'll be playable if the dynamic remains the same.

So it would perhaps be best to have him teleport off into the sunset. I can't as a player imagine introducing a new character into the campaign, though I will give it some thought.

Note: I don't mean that I want everyone to agree with Fondo, or that he has to take Serethtiel into the proposed rescue. But I don't find it personally workable or workable in-character for the party to just respond NO in the way they have.

With respect, I sense that folks don't want to discuss out of character. I don't see how I can move forward without your help problem solving out if character. I gather there are a
side conversations happening by IM that don't include me, and I'm left uncertain about how to move forward.

I'm going to stop posting IC for a while. If you want to discuss here or privately, please let me know. I mean well, but I clearly don't know what to do without some feedback. DM Euan, please feel free to do what you wish with Fondo.

One piece of feedback that is clear us that I post too damn much, and that may have made you all feel drowned out. I'm going to try to take that to heart, though I need some help finding the right pace....

1 person marked this as a favorite.

For my part, and as I already shared with Fondo's maker, I don't feel that Fondo's ideas are shot down more often than accepted - but he does have a LOT of ideas and some will, as a result of sheer volume, not work out for the group.

Also I think there is some miscommunication with the process for those that are accepted. I feel like folks are saying "yes, but with this change and/or concern" and Fondo sometimes hears "no, unless you do it our way". I could be mistaken with intent, but that's what I see from my third party stance. :)

As for whether or not he's playable I cannot answer that. If you're saying he's unplayable unless he's the clear leader of the party, well, that is a problem as I see no clear leader in this group and teamwork is not the groups middle name. This is definitely a group of individuals, with ever changing relationships that tug and pull and push in various directions.

I understand if folks aren't interested in conversing about this in a public forum where our words are displayed for any lurker to read (forever). I do encourage you to chat however and resolve this so we can move on. We're on the cusp of the last book - the home stretch!

So thanks to John, Dandilion's real life husband (watch yourself Barael) our treasure sheet has a new listing. ;)

Treasure Sheet

On the Loot by Yahoo page, at the top, is a short list of characters and the treasure they've accumulated. It's an automatic script that I stole from John and modified so Briar and Barael no longer need to track it by hand. Thanks John!

That said there is clearly some inequality there. Not sure how to handle that, or even if it's all that important. I tried, for a while, to even things out, but I found I often made things worse as that character would then grab something off the pile they liked so I'm not going to try to fix it.

Anyway, it's a more accurate, less work intensive tool if you wish to use it to try to find equality in the party - though I'd ignore Serethtial in my figuring I think. :D
