- Briar discovers a way to descend into a basement level the party does so only to find a whole complex of evil Urgathoa followers!
- The party, thanks to the magic of the Elf, has good success against the largest hoard of underlings and a few undead.

- That night, Briar uses power magics to prevent the Beast Barael from destroying the DOLLhouse.

- They make their way to Salvators house, stopping to harass some kids and steal their toys first. LOL....so true!
- At the house, after a brief battle with an Otyugh and after leaving a poor woman to fend for herself, they have a delightful chat with Laori Vaus, an evil elven worshipper of Zon-Kuthon who totally loves Briar.

Thanks for posting these, GM Evilan. I love these!

Once again, I could claim that Fondo is far too charming for such a thing, but then that miserable rat comes in and makes Euan's uncharitable remarks all true! :-p

Huh. Just learned tonight that Inspired Courage has changed a bit. The attack and damage bonuses are Competence, not Morale. Live and learn... That means they stack with Bless.

Inspire Courage (Su): A 1st level bard can use his performance to inspire courage in his allies (including himself), bolstering them against fear and improving their combat abilities. To be affected, an ally must be able to perceive the bard’s performance. An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls. At 5th level, and every six bard levels thereafter, this bonus increases by +1, to a maximum of +4 at 17th level. Inspire courage is a mind-affecting ability. inspire courage can use audible or visual components. The bard must choose which component to use when starting his performance.

Is that new? When did it change?

Charlie - based on this revelation, you can change your last swapped spell back to Bless if you wish. Bless is back on the menu as a good first level spell in a party with Bards!

If you say so.

Nikolay keeps his sword sheathed for now, determined to let someone else strike the first blow lest he have to deal with Fondo's wrath disturbing his drinking and crafting at a later date.

Fondo makes a note to buy Nikolay a sap, but then scratches it off the list. He seems far to smitten with his sword. But then, aren't all of us men?

Question for the group regarding Blessings of Fervor.

It states:

With this blessing, you call your allies to move forth and empower them to conquer and become victorious. Each round for the duration of this spell, each of your allies can choose one of the following bonuses for that round at the beginning of its turn (their choice).

Increase its speed by 30 feet.

I argue that means your speed is increased for the round by 30'. Fondo argues each move action is increased 30'. He says the use of the word 'speed' is actually tied to the keyword Speed and is then meaning base move.

I think if they meant base move they'd have been clearer. But as I told Fondo, I've been wrong before, so I put it to the group. Does it mean +60' per round or +30' per round (best case)?

half-elf
today's stuff, various:

I have always tied to the speed, so 60 ft.

Male Human (Per +18 | Fort +12 Ref +16 Will +12 | AC 24 (f 19/t 17)| CMD 30/f 25)

Yeah, the wording might be clearer, speed v movement. The ninja Ki bump by 20' feels like extra distance/movement. Increasing a creature's speed in a round seems to affect move actions separately.

I've always played it Fondo-wise, however I'm fine with the other interpretation.

In my reality, it's an extra 30'+ movement per move action, however, if your base speed is less than 30', then you only get that extra. 20' movers and such get an extra +20' per move action.

yeah, I've done it like Briar... if you are slower than 30, you only get double.

Male Human (Init +7 | Per +16 | Fort +16 Ref +15 Will +11* +1 enchant, +4 language & sonic | AC 32 (f25/t19) | CMD36*)

Like Briar, Im cool with whatever your ruling is. A wand of BoF is really powerful. But I do feel it would be a house rule, not RAW.

I sense a grand conspiracy here! Grumble, grumble. :)

No, I'm fine sticking pretty close to RAW - not a big fan of house rules these days. You're allowed to move at +30' per move not per round.

Male Human (Per +18 | Fort +12 Ref +16 Will +12 | AC 24 (f 19/t 17)| CMD 30/f 25)

OK, since I detect weakness, I'm pressing :)

If someone bounds down stairs, the reversal is much more work, hence our craziness in the Carowyn Manor, and its dread stairs. Well, dread for cowards ;)

Now, picture a pendulum. The downward momentum is channeled through as acceleration, and brought to bear on the upward swing, though the momentum is eroded by the completion of the arc. It's a continuous action.

I'm proposing that our tenement bridge here is that pendulum, and any forward momentum from the descent and ascent cancels out, because it's all in one direction. This, coupled with the ninja's light steps, and Barael would have everything going for him on that traverse.

The prosecution rests.

That would make excellent sense in the real world, but gaming physics is different and doesn't allow for acceleration and the like.

You gained no speed going down the ramp, but you are penalized for going up it. Not much sense in real world physics, but plenty of sense in gaming physics.

Either way, it wouldn't have put you next to the emperor and he still gets away. :)

As most of you know, I'm going to Kublacon Friday and won't be free until Monday. As I'm working the con as well as participating I don't expect to be posting much, if at all, while I'm there. The hotel charges and arm and a leg for connectivity as I recall so I'm not even bringing my laptop this year.

That means a weekend off! Go get out side and see what the world is like and I'll 'see' you all Tuesday.

Male Human (Per +18 | Fort +12 Ref +16 Will +12 | AC 24 (f 19/t 17)| CMD 30/f 25)

There's a storm front blowing in this weekend, starting Friday night, and continuing to roil until Sunday evening. Three families, one house, dance recital preparations... Barael may hibernate for a couple of days :(

I might still poke my head up every half day to make sure the elf isn't bringing the wrath of the Arkonas down on our heads ;)

Male Human (Init +7 | Per +16 | Fort +16 Ref +15 Will +11* +1 enchant, +4 language & sonic | AC 32 (f25/t19) | CMD36*)

I feel like it might be helpful to open up a discussion about participation, underscoring that I have absolute respect for folks' real world priorities. My desire is to make sure my participation contributes to keeping this fun campaign alive, and finding a balance for everyone's availability.

I really enjoy all of the characters in this campaign, even those of folks who haven't been as active. I would love to see more from Charlie, Dandi and Nikolay, but respect that you all have different commitments in your real lives that might mean being less active than my PbP-addicted self. :-)

I do think that it's awkward for only three of us to be consistent 2+/day posters, while some do brief once per day posts or every few days.

It means that the three very active posters are driving the story. I imagine that this might have left Charlie, Dandi and Nikolay feeling disengaged—which then makes it harder to jump back in once schedules do clear up...?

Dandi and Nikolay, I'm most familiar with the stuff going on in your lives. Is there anything I can do to help engage your characters more? Would it be helpful for the campaign slow down to accommodate your availability? Do you feel engaged?

Charlie, how might we better engage you/your character? Would it be possible to let us know on this Discussion board when you'll be away?

Sorry, Euan, if I'm stepping on your toes. Thanks so much for your hard and creative work!

Male Human (PER +6 | FORT+15 REF+9 WILL+11 | AC 26 (F24, T14) CMD28)

You make good points, Fondo. I really like doing PbP, this one especially. This is a cool group of folks. I like it as a creative outlet for me. The last month or two has been the craziest time for me in recent memory and I haven't had the juice to engage the way I've wanted to. Summer's here and I will soon be back up to speed. I'm currently on a roadtrip and am not sure how that will effect my posts but I might have more creative juices to tap in the nnext couple days. I'll find ways to connect, if I think of any ways you all can help I'll let you know. Thanks for broaching this subject.
