Mulluq.

Male, Pitborn Tiefling Warrior of Iomedae's Holy Light 4/Guardian 1 (AC: 21 [T: 11 /FF: 20]; HP: 52/66; F+9, R+5, W+7; Init: +1; Perc: +0 [Darkvision 60'])

Mulluq hears, but is reluctant to heed, the warning. "If it moves, you can't maintain distance without someone drawing its focus. Keep yourselves back." As he says this, he moves in with blade in hand and shield held high, slashing at the creature. His focus is deliberate, but the potential of his swing is hindered by his forward shield.

"Can anyone use magic to make it dark in here? Mulluq and I would be able to fight it still!"

Hp: 21 of 21; Effects active:

"I'm afraid not," Kaygan calls back. "There's generally more call for light than darkness."

Mulluq makes a tentative strike at the plant creature from behind his shield, cutting it and making it bleed green watery sap. The mandrake hisses angrily.

Assuming Sol continues to delay, it's Hannik next.

I can't find where Jod ever discarded the glaive, so

Aware of the threat the mandragora presents and seeing that even Mulluq is being more cautious, Jod drops his falchion and readies the polearm he's been carrying (move action) before striking at the monster (standard action) before stepping to AB10.

I believe that positions him for AoO against the mandragora if it moves toward him. Next round, I can reposition and provide a flank for Mulluq.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Jod slashes the creature open, a horrid wound that flops open to reveal green fleshy innards.

Ouch! Ghroth.

Kaygan

Hp: 21 of 21; Effects active:

Kaygan knows nothing about mandragoras, but he knows that some plants are susceptible to the cold. He only has a minor cantrip available to that effect, but he hopes that Mulluq, Jod and Ghroth have damaged it enough that a cantrip will be all that is needed.

Ghroth is in Z9. Forgot to list an end point for him on the last move.

The creature gives vent to an ear-splitting shriek, like fingernails down a blackboard coupled with the howls of the damned, that seems to tear at the adventurers' psyches.

OK, that's Mulluq. Sol can do something unless he wants to continue to delay. Otherwise, Hannik's busy (she can post a move if she likes) so it's Jod.

Aubrey, if there's no wall blocking line of fire, Sol will move to AD9 on the stairs and fire an arrow. If not he continues to delay. He doesn't have a lot to offer right now.

Jod moves to AA12 - if that can give Mulluq a flank next round, he will and attacks with the glaive once more.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 did not assume flank, but it wouldn't make a difference with that roll

Sol's shot misses and so does Jod's attack.

Sol cheers as Kaygan's spell hits home.

More effective than my arrow. Right now I'm happy if we score any damage.

Kaygan's spell hits home. The mandrake is looking more like a well-chopped salad at this point, but it staggers on with malicious intensity.

As Sol says: Kira, then Rhok.

Kira, then Rhok.

Kira moves into the room, keeping to the back.

Tentatively proposing that Rhok move to AB10 and ready an action to attack if the Devil Shrub (love that moniker, Ithuriel!) gets within reach. He's also in position to heal the fighters from here.

Male Human (Kellid) Oracle of the Apocalypse 3

Hmmmm... I'm a pretty capable melee combatant - and, importantly, I'm not nauseated. So I'm heading into the ruck. Move to Z10 before attacking with my mace. Attack roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12, damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4.

EDIT: Not that that will do us much good. Bah.

Rhok gets over-excited and his attack is clumsy and wide. The mandragora, however, seems particularly infuriated by Mulluq - perhaps his holy symbol of Iomedae ignites the fury of a vegetable raised on demon ichor. Long tendril extend from its fingers and it sweeps them wildly about as it seeks to latch on with its jaws.

The creature attacks Ghroth with slam 1 and Rhok with slam 2. It saves its bite for Mulluq.
Slam 1 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 to hit, damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 plus poison
Slam 2 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 to hit, damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 plus poison
The poison works like this: save Fort DC 15; frequency 1/round for 4 rounds; effect Confusion and fatigue; cure no saves but “act normally” result on the confusion behavior table ends the effect.
Bite 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 to hit, damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 plus grab. Grab attack v Mulluq's CMD (assuming the thing hits) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Back to the top: Mulluq.

Map updated.

Male, Pitborn Tiefling Warrior of Iomedae's Holy Light 4/Guardian 1 (AC: 21 [T: 11 /FF: 20]; HP: 52/66; F+9, R+5, W+7; Init: +1; Perc: +0 [Darkvision 60'])

Mulluq quickly manages to push the illness caused by the odd scream aside, and just in time to have the wicked little compost pile bite him. The bite was surprisingly hard, but even more odd was that it tried to hold onto him with its filthy maw. He was just able to pull out of its grasp, but only barely. Mulluq foregoes caution for retaliation at the demon-spawned muck heap, slashing hard with his new sword and delivering a bite of his own right back at the thing.

Full attack
Cold Iron Longsword 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19, damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Bite 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20, damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

The kiss of cold iron puts the fiendish turnip back in the sod.

Mulluq kills it, end of combat. 170xp each.

Male Human (Kellid) Oracle of the Apocalypse 3

The demon cabbage hit me. Fort save (DC 15): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10.

EDIT: Hmmmm... Do we play this out, or does Mulluq killing it end the combat?

Let's see if someone needs to sit on you until you calm down.

1d100 ⇒ 65 - attack self with weapon.

Rhok begins staring at the hand holding his morningstar oddly.

People can try a Sense Motive check, DC 15 (except Rhok, obviously) to notice that Rhok is acting oddly. They can then try and grapple him to disarm him before he attacks himself and until he calms down.
