Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair |
We'll be here when you have time,If it ankles you feel any better I just started my second job so I haven't had as much time to post either
"Mud" Adam Storn |
Howdy everyone.
I'm leaving tomorrow with my family for a long vacation and won't return home until July 17. I will have intermittent Internet connection. Even so, I will have intermittent time for Pbp as the family does vacation things. So, please bot me as necessary.
cheers
Janice "Snapdragon" Li |
Sorry everyone—no internet at home for the next week or so. Will post when I can, but slower.
mdt |
Project Violet |
Matt, make sure you get your character folio linked in Barry's profile, for easy reference. Like the rest of us.
One Of Us. One Of Us.
Hotaru Hoshiko |
Depends on the results of research. I'm also happy to have Taru try to analyze the video now that she's better with codecs.
We were told princess was taken care pf, so wouldn't likely follow it further. Base atrack offers lots of chances for RP. I'll throw out a naked roll just to see.
Project Violet |
I, too, thought the Mob Princess was "handled," and that the bait for me was something that we couldn't necessarily follow up on, since it looked like the entire thing had been staged.
I think the animal murders are what have the bulk of our attention right now, given the research Snapdragon and Pulse have been putting in to them.
Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair |
Animal murder is fine by me
Project Violet |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Are we not doing 'phrasing' any more?"
Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
No, you all took it for granted.
Janice "Snapdragon" Li |
Animal murders is the one Janice was the most interested in, due to being an excellent "fake victim" and being a biologist. But it might be hard to get a start on without a bit of luck.
Project Violet |
I believe we're roleplaying our interest and discussion about the animal murders. In the gameplay thread, we've talked about them in-character, and are - I believe - gearing up to go investigating.
The Rocket |
mdt and teammates, my apologies for being so sparse the last month. I was travelling for four weeks (some fun, some play) and then back to a big old pile of work that I still haven't dug myself out of.
mdt, I wanted to ask, does Rocket have the ability to do "superspeed patrols" while moving too fast to be seen by the ordinary eye? I'm sure he'd produce a strong wind. Wondering if superspeed + stealth (+high speed vision) is sufficient for that, or if he'd need to buy a limited form of invisibility for that? Or a power trick requiring a skill roll?
mdt |
Not really. If you watch the CW Flash shows (which by the way, they're doing one of the best jobs of life actioning comics I've ever seen, including Supergirl this fall), even as fast as Barry is, he still leaves a 'blur' behind when he's running, and people know he was there unless he can get them distracted to not notice the blur.
Unfortunately, unless and until powers are known more widely, Rocket's going to have to be careful.
The Rocket |
mdt, OK thanks. Seems reasonable.
Vi, yeah, I knew you didn't (and wouldn't accept). Rocket probably did too, but I figured that was Rocket's choice.
Project Violet |
Hey, he's being supportive of his girlfriend. His confidence in her will help her get her disadvantages under control, as the game progresses, and eventually she'll be able to buy off some of the problems that make her so insecure.
Roleplaying these things out is the best way to make the characters work, I always say. :)
Project Violet |
Just a heads up, guys. I'm going to Disneyland tomorrow through Sunday, so any replies necessary from me will be a little delayed. Apologies in advance. :)
"Mud" Adam Storn |
MDT I think we're ready to start the first event.
mdt |
Sorry, I've been slain at work, just getting back to normal. Thought I'd have time this weekend, then my wife (who I hadn't seen for 3 weeks) wanted family time Saturday, and my friends wanted Game Day Sunday.
I'm ready to start posting. I need to know who's going to the park openly, and who's staying nearby in the bus. Not everyone can fit in publicly, unless disguised. Also, remember that Rocket still has some (fading) marks on him from the gun guy.
Saffron "Aegis" Sinclair |
Aegis would vote she goes Public
The Rocket |
Rocket wants to be public. We'll have to see how much he can get away with bursts of speed but (using PER + stealth to pick the right moments) I could see him scouting the perimeter without attracting too much attention. (The same way a cricket or hare might sprint from one hiding place to another).
He'll ask Vi to do some face paint over the weird marks.
Project Violet |
Violet will be out in public if at all possible, and will happily use her profound cosmetic library on Rocket to keep the marks hidden.
Barry "Blaze" Wind |
Barry's willing to go into public. He's the new guy, so he probably doesn't stand out until he "flames on". Also as the new guy, he'll probably stick close to one of the more experienced folks.
Hotaru Hoshiko |
Here is my suggestion for a plan, modded as needed by others:
Pulse 'pretends' to be a flighty and easily distracted young girl.
Aegis 'pretends' to be an alcoholic, and rich, young adult.
Violet 'pretends' to be an insecure manic pixie dream girl.
Janice 'pretends' to be a snobbish adult woman.
Rocket can easily trail people.
Anyone with a cell can easily be traced by the bus or pulse.
I'm not sure of new guy's skillset.
I'm not sure of Mud's ability to blend in.
Pulse would suggest assuming there would be multiple assailants, as most predators hunt in packs, and that they'd likely go for the weak, sick, young or old.. hence the broad spectrum of targets being so ideal.
Don't get completely hooked on the idea of shapeshifter(s), as bodysnatchers/chevaliers/facehunters are totally possibilities.
We should also have a clearly defined signal.
Thoughts/Critiques?
Project Violet |
This word, you keep using. This "pretend."
I do not think it means what you think it means. ;)
Violet was just going to go as a random music-loving girl who drinks a lot of beer but never seems to get overly drunk.
The signal can easily be transmitted over the mindlink, I should think. "I think there's trouble, here" or something. Or, you know, frantic mental screaming.
Or real screaming.
Janice "Snapdragon" Li |
I think Pulse is probably a bad potential victim, because if we can't reach her fast enough, she's in the most trouble. Not sure about Violet; but Janice can easily wander off, etc. and come back without real risk, and Pulse can also defend herself pretty well.
Violet: in case you're curious, I based Janice on myself, but with a bit more social tact and a slightly different post-college career.
"Mud" Adam Storn |
Mud is going in public.
He'll wear several layers of jackets, so he can give some away in case of emergency.
The weather is cold, right? What kind of music plays?
Cheers
"Mud" Adam Storn |
I've a business trip tomorrow and Wednesday. I'll be able to post on Friday.
cheers
Project Violet |
Violet: in case you're curious, I based Janice on myself, but with a bit more social tact and a slightly different post-college career.
My own issues with depression and anxiety contribute to Violet's personality as well, not gonna lie. Violet's got more than one source, but Wendy (her major and primary influence) had her own share of issues, some of her solutions of which make it into Violet's behavior. She was the inspiration for the Tic-Tac box, for example.
The Rocket |
Hey gang, I'm going camping from tomorrow to Sunday. Please feel free to bot me if needed.
Project Violet |
MDT: You cool if I link Violet's new sheet on her profile, or did you want to update the old sheet with the new one on your G-Drive file?
Project Violet |
Updated and linked!
Hotaru Hoshiko |
What is the intended use of Hotaru's ability to detect and read the em spectrum? So far, every attempted use is 'you make yourself sick.'
Would it require Rapid to offset that? How much rapid?
mdt |
You used it at the warehouse.
You used it while dealing with the Russians.
You used it around the base.
You used it during training.
You are in a major source of EM emissions.
You are in a major source of sound (secondary sensory input).
You Made the text rolls, but there was nothing in the texts you intercepted that was weird.
You failed your general perception check with the penalties (-3 to each).
That was fluffed as 'You are overwhelmed and haven't found anything useful' because.. you were overwhelmed and didn't find anything useful.
If I might suggest, you might want to work on boosting perception? Then you can deal with distractions without failing the rolls? Sort of like in Pathfinder, where the level 1 rogue fails the DC 20 lockpick check while the nasty swarm is swarming over him, but the level 15 rogue grits his teeth and succeeds, because his skill is greater and he can tune out the distractions?
"Mud" Adam Storn |
Sorry, with penalties for the crowd, Mud is too distracted by the women he wishes had some fashion sense.
No worries. Scenery can be distracting. Cheers
Project Violet |
Did we lose Barry?
No, but his player is swamped at work. I'll poke him.
Janice "Snapdragon" Li |
Ooh, yeah! Hotaru could get a training montage where we blast her with EM signals and she needs to pick out individual ones quickly.
Barry "Blaze" Wind |
Sorry. Work had me working on two advertising campaigns this week, as well as beginning the design of a new catalog.
I also had to figure out how to roll dice. I think I've figured it out :)
Hotaru Hoshiko |
Sorry! I hadn't intended to be so confrontational. Really strapped for time at work to make any sort of post and wasn't feeling well.
That clarifies it very well. I was more remembering the times it didn't work because 'too many signals'. When put in the 'trying to do too much at once' side of things, it makes more sense - having succeeded by a lot on the texts side, knowing she'd succeeded on that, there just wasn't anything to find made a big difference. Likewise, knowing that she was too distracted to spot anything otherwise helps.
I intend to raise Hotaru's Int score as a whole over time, as it simply fits with the way she grows in my head - as she learns more about her powers, she becomes more adept at micromanaging and filing things away (how else could she one day run a website from her mind? :))
Is rapid necessary (and if so, how much?) to utilize more digital, wider bandwidth signals?
mdt |
Rapid is required to manage more than a handful of phones at a time. Right now, you can't process any more transmissions than you could process screens of text. Imagine a wall of computer terminals, 3 x 5. You the person can only concentrate on a small handful at a time (3-6 depending on how active and alert you are). You'd almost certainly miss something on one of the 15 monitors.
Pulse was 'staring' at a bank of 10 x 10 screens (1000 screens) and trying to pick out something interesting and useful out of those 1000 screens.
"Mud" Adam Storn |
Mdt. Please let me know when I can roll another perception check. I don't foresee Mud changing actions unless someone calls for help.
Cheers
PS happy Olympics!
