I haven't been overwhelmed by PF, I can pick and choose what I want to buy, I don't have to buy everything. Though I would prefer more hardcovers even if they are mostly reprints.
The only reason 5E is doing so well is because of how much everyone hated 4E;) But seriously D&D has been dead to me for a long time.
I am more disappointed of the loss of the campaign setting books then the player companions. I really enjoy world building stuff and there are a lot of areas/subjects that I would like to see.

The slow down is appreciated. Including the Pathfinder Tales slow down.
Due to time constraints I can't seem to be able to sit down and go through these things anymore. I have three entire APs that are on my 'to read' shelf and I haven't even got to the Hellknight campaign setting book yet.
I'm seriously thinking about ditching my smart phone at this point. It is the single-most worse thing that has happened to me in regards to being able to just sit down and read. The other day I killed the wifi in my house, but the unlimited data on my phone resulted in the continuous operation of that dreaded little device anyway....

To my knowledge it isn't Starfinder getting in the way of things, but the simple fact that they were putting out too much, too fast and they realized that.
I'm sad by this since I didn't mind the monthly pace, buuuuuuut if they are going to slow the pace, I hope this means that 1) we get more erratas 2) we get more faqs 3) there will be less things like "okay, I'll pick as traits the star gazer cosmic trait, star gazer campaign trait for my oracle with stargazer mystery who is going to take stargazer prestige class later on."
You know, less "two alchemist grenadier archetypes, two pact wizards which happen to stack with each other" sort of stuff, more time for editoring and proof reading :'D

The Player Companion line always gets read when I pick up a new one. But I haven't read a Campaign book here from Paizo since the entry of Nicolas Logue in the Towns of Golarion...not from cover to cover.
Funny thing, every Frog God title that his the home or hard drive, I turn my phone off and isolate myself with coffee until it is read once. Usually I will go back and highlight or take notes...

Can any kind Paizonian speak to the scale of the tavern maps?
I'm hoping for one of:
A) soft cover will lie flat when open, with actual 1" squares of tavern floorplan pages...
Or
B) glue-bound large folded map(s) included as with Down the Blighted Path and similar glue-bound maps.
Otherwise this is much better as a PDF to print the floor plans on 11x17 paper, etc.
Alternately, is there a companion map pack/flip mat set planned?
Thanks,
Zanzibaran

I only regret that my current campaign will end soon with no more inns or I would absolutely add this.

The maps for the taverns are full-page illustrations printed in the book in each tavern's section. There aren't any pull-out maps in this book, and there are no current plans for a Flip-Mat or Map Pack related to this book.

Well, kiddo, it's in your best interest that the "Stupid Starfinder" is a resounding success, because otherwise you might not see even 6 CS/PC in a year. 5E is in town and it's not taking any prisoners in the "fantasty RPG that can keep a medium-sized company afloat" category.
5E is more "capable of keeping a tiny-sized company afloat and pay for a lot of endorsements". Given teh D&D division of WotC is I think 9 total people.

There are a few tavern/pub flipmats that might work, however. My buddy got me the bigger tavern for Christmas and I've already got the waterfront pub as well. With this, I intend to incorporate both into our CoCT campaign in some fashion.
I just make my own these days.
Great way to have reoccuring maps without having to use the same maps for every single Inn/Tavern throughout the Realms :)

Every Edition suffers the Rise and Fall syndrome...
Older editions stall..New Editions come out with small editions changes, everyone jumps on new edition Bandwagon buying same product line with changes..cycle repeats.
It is hard to keep interest in a singular product line forever.
Companies who refuse to change suffer.
Maps are a weak point of their product line. Customers are wanting High Res versions of maps to use online. Online is where most of the action is these days, or Digital display is used at even the Table. But they are not providing them. People are wanting 1"=5' "official" maps and they are not providing them. Digital allows rapid Mini use without slowing down game to draw out a Map as you go
Many GMs don't homebrew settings so This type of product line is hard to support in regards to Adventure Path users. Adventure Path GMs are only interested in a straight line from start to finish.

Unlikely. The company is over 600 employees (total) and 5E is (or was) the highest selling fantasy TTRPG on the market.
Yes the highest selling fantasy TTRPG on the market makes less than 5% of the revenue of Magic the Gathering the single most popular table top game period in the current market. WotC is first and foremost a company to make Magic cards and everything else is at best secondary. D&D is not even mentioned in their share holders meetings, whereas Magic is toted as one of their top brands responsible for a substantial level of growth.
Hasbro only keeps making D&D for the cultural penetration value, if it makes a profit that's just a nice bonus.
edit: Just another point even in D&D's golden era of mainstream play the 1980s, the D&D tie-in novels outsold the actual rulesbooks by a factor of 4 to one. Dragonlance and Drizzt were more popular than actually playing the game.

According to the February release thread, the street date is February 28th, but you'll most likely get it sooner if you're a subscriber.

I'm surprised nobody has commented yet...
My first impressions are that these all look pretty cool. In general, they are fully statted and populated establishments. There are plot hooks that make sense, and each can serve as a decent encounter/mini-adventure. They put a lot of thought into the layout of each tavern, too.
The end of the book inlcudes rules for imbibing alcohol, bar fights, drinking games, and some new feats, archetypes, etc.
I haven't given it a full read, yet, but I'll definitely be inserting these into some campaigns. Oh, I'm really digging the vineyard.

When I pitched the idea for this book and wrote the outline, I wasn't fully convinced about including archetypes and feats. I wanted the subsystems for extra levels of intoxication (enjoying alcohol as much as I do) and narrative bar fights that any character class could participate in.
But after we brainstormed some ideas for the contents, I realized that we could have some fun with these player options! So I convinced Amanda and Adam to let me write those bits. So now we have a mixologist alchemist that make intoxicating bombs and a teamwork feat for getting drunk with your allies! The archetypes and feats work best with the new subsystems, but I tried to make the feats not too niche.
And the rest of the book is just *chef kiss*. The writers and Amanda and Adam took my original ideas and ran with them!
I am very excited for this book to be out in the wild soon!

So, *are* there any dance halls featured?
Can I get a spoiler of a three-word description of each locale? They're not all identical, right?
Alas, no "dance halls". While at least one of the detailed taverns might be located near a "dance hall", taverns have only a peripheral connection to such places.
Of course if you like true dancing, most taverns are usually accommodating especially when the music gets loud late at night and would be the place to go. No one who wants to actually dance would go near a "dance hall." Very little dancing there, in the traditional sense at least. ;)
There are a number of non-detailed taverns described in the introduction:
Exquisite Torpor: Katapesh, Pesh den, discreet.
Far Kasai: Absalom's Petal District, Minkai Teahouse.
Flotsam: Shackles. Galleon the puts in at several different ports. The crew raids for booze ingredients.
The Fruiting Body: Corgunbier under Cassomir, Derro fungus alcohol.
Galfrey’s Banner: Mendev, Run by retired Paladin, rest stop for weary crusaders.
Jadwiga House: Whitethrone, exorbitant prices to hobnob with Irrisen nobility.
On a Whim: Brastlewark in Cheliax, Rainbow painted, Gnome run, experimental drinks.
Perennial Glade: River Kingdoms, Leshy run, shifting from place to place, price of admission a changed memory.
The Splint and Scar: Urglin in Varisia, Orc run, pain reducing concoctions and first aid, no questions asked.
Ukuambi’s: Nantambu, Mwangi Expanse, popular among students of the Magaambya.
Verduran Verve: Woodsedge in Galt, Coffeehouse, All violence shunted outside by magic.
Vitality: Mechitar, Geb, Using alchemy to mimic intoxication for the undead connoisseur.

Ah, Dance Halls of Golarion, may you become reality some day.
It'll probably be Inner Sea Dance Halls, and, if successful, followed later by Distant Dance Halls.

There's the Mixologist archetype for the alchemist, who can infuse his extracts and potions with alcohol to increase their potency. He can also cause his bombs to produce intoxicating fumes.
Then, there's the Bouncer archetype for the brawler, who gets some special features to use with the new bar fight rules.
