Vivisectionist and Antropomorphic Animal

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

A vivisectionist gets it as a class feature, but it doesn't seem to play into his typical build.

Besides being an Island of dr Moreau shoutout, what is the point of this?
It doesn't make the creature obedient, so it's not for minionmancy, and for a creature that already listens to the alchemist, it would probably be a downgrade.

Have any of you found a good use for it? Do you know what the authors' intention was?

It fits the theme of the archetype for hideous experimentation on innocent creatures. The vivisectionist is kind of a mad scientist with questionable ethics. At 9th level a Vivisectionist can make the transformation permanent for only 7,500 gp. At that level they also get access to awaken. That allows them to create sentient humanoid animals.

An evil character could probably make a decent amount of money creating slaves out of animals.

Pathfinder has avoided the classical catgirl iconography, which I think was a deliberate choice. Curiously, when I quote your post, the term "catgirl" and the link to the image aren't in the citation. I had to add the term by hand.

for some reason the image was only temporarily set.
here is a link that should stay longer
