Did anyone else have difficulty getting through the Tian Xia Character Guide intro?

It reads at a very high level to me (in terms of complex vocabulary). To me at least, it almost seems as though the writer sought to use big words to come off as more intelligent and kind of overdid it at the expense of the reader.

Thankfully, it seems to be limited to the first few paragraphs of the book. I've had no issue reading much of the rest of it.

Did it read differently than other Paizo books to you as well? It usually doesn't take me multiple read throughs to fully grock the meaning in other books.

Perhaps I'm just tired.

I can't read it for myself, but I know that complicated language pops up from time to time in Lost Omens books. Might have been the same writer for that specific chapter. Can't remember off the top of my head, but I know most Lost Omens books have the occasional chapter that was written exactly as you described.

Dark Archive

Is this the result of the character guide featuring an in-world narrative, like a lot of the other recent books?

I've found these to be real hit or miss, depending in the narrator.

"Quotidian" and "potentate" are the two words that feel extra shiny there to me, but that's about it.
