Confusion when Crafting scroll batches

Rules Discussion

The remaster buffed Crafting so it doesn't require a formula anymore, and the set-up days were reduced from 4 to 2, or 1 with the formula. However, each scroll in a batch still needs the spell to be cast during the crafting process. My PFS character is a Unified Magic Theory wizard, so I don't have many spell slots of the same rank.

I've been getting around this by using Drain Bonded Item, but now I suspect that this isn't actually allowed, since the casting needs to come from a spell slot and Drain Bonded Item doesn't expend one.

But now that I look again at the rule saying I must provide a casting, I notice that the casting must be provided "during the crafting process." The additional days spent on lowering the material cost are also part of the crafting process. Would it be acceptable to provide castings during those later days?

I would certainly allow it. I don't think it violates RAW or RAI at all.

Just keep in mind that although it's 25% less efficient, you can always just to a Batch of Three Scrolls. There may be times when you just don't have an extra Downtime day to spare.

Phew. Don't have to go back and fix my Chronicle Sheets.
