Whenever I imagine Netherworld versions of Golarion cities, I imagine dried riverbeds which contribute to the picture of a desolate, ruinous locale. However, I don't recall every hearing about water.
Do you think there are bodies of water in the Netherworld? If so, what do you think they're like? If not, do you picture the ocean areas simply yet more desolate landscape?

Players on mu Carrion Crown game found Shadow Walking to certain locations required a little extra forethought because it turns out, being deposited back in the material universe up to a mile off target is a very big number for a coastal city, even if the bay is a sandy basin instead of a sea while in shadows.
Because the Netherworld is often described as barren and lifeless, it's easy to default to the idea of drought-like conditions plane-wide, but I imagine in any location where an abundance of water would become scarier and more inhospitable than its lack, that's probably the way to go. A twilight abyss filled with inky black shadows that loom under your boat seems just as shadow plane as a dry basin, depending on locale.

A seabound netherworld encounter might have your ship with no idea where its going closed in by netherworld denizens with a sense for where you are. The enemy vessel floating in along the starboard side from the front. Each round both ships move 5ft by each other creating a shifting battlescape.
Visibility is almost non existent beyond a small distance making every turn reveal something new from the other ship. Sounds of whats to come give more information that what you can see.
Having darkvision of course is huge here.
The environment could even counter act light based spells every round.

Blackwater rivers are a real thing, occur naturally (i.e. not just because of pollution), and it's a real water color not merely stirred-up mud. The coloration happens when the vegetation growing on their shores is of a plant type that releases a lot of tannins, which seep into the water, turning it dark to pitch black.
I would absolutely incorporate that into a shadowlands setting, if I ever ran one. :)
