Items taking more than 1 investiture?

Advice

I was working on some special items for a game I am going to be running soon, and more specifically looking at cursed items/items that cost you something extra to use. My brother and I were taking about it and the idea of an item taking up 2 of the 10 slots came up and I was wondering what the general opinion on this was and if people feel this would be balanced or not. The items in question are very powerful, but it feels off to me, and I'm not sure how this would affect game balance. Let me know what you think, and any advice on other prices to pay are welcome as well. Thank you!

TBH I'd rather lean on changing the item's level so it matches its effects rather than making it cost extra investiture. I am honestly unsure how many characters but up against their investiture limits, so it may not be all that much of a limit in practice. I can, but I also like to deck my character out with as much bling as I possibly can, and I know that isn't everybody's play style.

A lot of characters, especially at low and medium levels, aren't really going to be worrying about their investiture. It's not the easiest cap to hit until later on. At which point having double wide items is a bit of a buff to Cha characters who might want to pick up Incredible Investiture.

For most of the game though, I think the more important consideration is how this fits into overall wealth and treasure allocation. If it's twice as good as a normal magic item that should probably be factored into your overall treasure distribution and encounter balance and something you have to consider for players who might not have their own version (which obviously goes away if everyone gets one but still).

In general though Investiture isn't going to be relevant for a big chunk of the game, so at those points it's not going to be super useful as a balancing tool.

I tend to start running up against investiture limits around level 10 or a bit later. By then there are a lot of cheap (compared to your wealth at that level) items like rings of energy resistance, and skill bonus items. Those can eat up your investiture limit quickly.
