So you breathe it in and you get an effect for a long as you hold your breath. Cool.
After you stop holding your breath (5+con mod, talking, verbal spell casting [until the remaster is completed and spell components go away entirely]) the effect ends.
Some Bottled Breaths have a special effect of you specifically spend an action to exhale the Breath.
However: there are no traits given for the action of Exhaling.
Is this intended?
I might have guessed that Exhaling would at least have Concentration, since I'm many cases you're breathing out and aiming something akin to (or exactly duplicating) a spell effect.
Given that it is duplicating spells, someone might even guess that it should have manipulate. I don't think that, but I don't think it's wholly unreasonable.
tldr: what traits, if any, should the action of Exhaling have, as it relates to Bottled Breaths.

It's a new item in Rage of Elements.
OP, the book isn't officially out yet, so most people don't have it yet. It's not likely you will get an answer to your question when asking about unreleased content.
However, why would exhaling need a trait? You breathe in and out all the time, if exhaling had a trait you would be triggering reactions just by existing.
Actions don't have to have traits. There's plenty of actions that don't. Just exhale and don't worry about it.

Sorry, got the pdf and been reading excitedly. Forgot the street date is in the future.
And because there's a difference between "breathing out" and "exhaling". The latter is a specific action that must be taken to cause the activatable effect. If you breathe out the Breath without spending an action, the passive effect ends without generating the additional activatable effect. And since several of those activatable effects are similar to, or are in actuality, spells, I'm just surprised that they're aren't any traits associated.
So I was wondering if that's intentional.

Like I said, actions don't need traits. Take the Drakeheart Mutagen's Final Surge action for example. It's a single action, with no traits. The Stride actions you take have traits of their own, but the activation doesn't.
You already have to perform two Manipulate actions just to use the item in the first place, one to draw it and one to use it. There's no reason to also add a trait to the exhale action as well.
