A couple of questions for our GM before I commit to Theo's actions.
1) Which skill is relevant for Recall Knowledge here?
2) Presuming that this location is significantly relevant to discovering the secret behind the Dagger (The Lead that Theo has been Pursuing), that should allow him to use his Devise a Strategem ability as a free action.
Is this correct?

GM Super Zero |

For knowledge about the elementals? Either Arcana or Nature, or related Lore of course.
The location is relevant, though I'm not sure the elementary are quite the subject... good enough for me!

![]() |

Also, for RK checks, do you want to roll them secretly or do we roll in the open to avoid bogging down play?
I'll provide the bonus for this one.
Arcana +10

GM Super Zero |

I'm flexible. And if you want to specify what type of information you hope to gain I'll usually honor it.
(And if I don't, it's usually because there's something I'm pretty sure you'd have wanted to know if you'd've known to ask for it.)

Well, new levels, new questions.
Regarding the Tome Implement of the Thaumaturge, I've read different interpretations on how it works, so I'd love to have your takes/rulings on it.
About the 7th level benefit of the Tome ... is it a free action at the start of your turn or do you need to burn an action for what it would be a forced recall knowledge?
Also, at the start of combat, you are supposed to burn one action to get your first implement out, right? (though its a free action to swap them in order to use their actions or reactions, it still says you need to have one in your hand first).
So, maybe you can help me understand all of this better. As far as I understand, I can have my Tome out and if someone would trigger my weapon reaction I can just switch them both on the fly and use it (the reaction) and then switch it back to Tome to get the free RK at the start of my turn.
Metagaming wise, shouldn't you be able to always have your mirror out since the art of the implement itself is a buckler? O.o

GM Super Zero |

It's at the start of your turn, so it's not an action.
You could have your implement out in basically the same situations where you'd have your weapon out. Is that here? Up to you. You knew you were approaching the site, so it might be reasonable.

In case it matters...
Theo's 1st attack was against the frightened, clumsy red living landslide.
Maybe a roll of 17 hits?
He then moved & shot the 2nd arrow at the blue stone horse.

GM Super Zero |

Still not quite, though now you mention it I did describe the wrong enemy there. I'll fix it.

![]() |

A 20 followed by a 1. That's funny.

![]() |

Yeah. No idea why I put a +5 in there, it's +6.

![]() |

Angvim will never know what hit him with those recall knowledge checks ... =)

GM Super Zero |

Is there supposed to be a set of rolls for a second attack, Snarlfist? You list two attacks but I only see details for one.

cmlobue's pregen α |

Was thinking in terms of 1E trample, where you have to pick save or AOO.
I will be traveling until Saturday and likely will not be able to post. Please bot as necessary - Seelah should not be complicated (try to protect the weakest party member and hit many foes).

GM Super Zero |

I should award a Hero Point.
To... Theo.
Although your group really hasn't spent many of them, either. But the person who has was Theo, so I'll stand by that.

Thanks.

![]() |

I was going to ask if Theo had any hero points remaining to make that check and not going into dying 4. Good to know =)
Let's kill these bastards!
Man, medicine is really a weak point for Angvim. +0? Sheesh!

![]() |

Well, the next one to roll RK should get a 3 on the dice.

![]() |

LOL

It seems you missed my post ... It was right before the one you made on wednesday.

GM Super Zero |

So I did. I apologize.
And you crit too, of course. Though I did make up for that by critting for you in my botting post.

GM Super Zero |

I know it's been a while OoC (and IC in this case, actually).
So, a brief recap of your mission objectives:
The Society knows that the calamitous dagger they found is linked to a lost war machine that still seems to be active. They wanted you to find it. However the dagger was also pointing at something else in the area that was causing interference, so you needed to find and disable that first. Find the war machine and protect it from Aslyn's forces.
For the Grand Archive, Zarta wanted you to find and carefully study everything that the dagger could locate. You'd need to travel to the fourth site for this, but you already destroyed one of the sites without studying it and so can't accomplish this any way.
For the Vigilant Seal, Eando Kline asked you to disable any interference ASAP and get to the war machine before Aslyn's forces. You just accomplished this, which means you have a little time to investigate.
Kline acknowledged that he and Zarta asked for opposite things, and promised both would trust your judgement when you decided which priority to take.
And Theo--you've only Pursued one Lead. Remember you can have two.

GM Super Zero |

Indeed. But I'm at work and had to write turns for three enemies, so it was a minute before I could get to it.

GM Super Zero |

We're nearing both the end of the scenario and the deadline by which I have to submit to HQ regardless. So, either way...
If you want to do rolls for downtime to appear on your Chronicle, go ahead and do that now.
Kaz Fortune-Telling Lore: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

![]() |

Storied Talent Boon: Roll income at Level -0
Esoteric Lore(E): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
A crit! So that's 2gp x 8 days?
Esoteric Lore(E), Field Commisioned 4 days: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25

![]() |

Murph doesn't have anything fancy for earning income
Scouting Lore to Earn income at level -2= level 4: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Crit! I think that means 72 SP

GM Super Zero |

Wow, that went pretty quick once you decided to focus on her. After the first few unfortunate concealment rolls.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Quite so. That 'sensible chuckle' had me laughing at the end too.

![]() |

I think that Theo's going after Crafting for his Downtime this time.
downtime DC16 for L2 task: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
So, a Crit at L2 becomes 5sp/day.
Thus, 40sp for his 8 days.

On the off chance that you plan to run the 2nd part of the Calamitous Dagger missions (4-08), please drop me a message - I'd love to play with this crew again.
Extra bonus - this mission is enough to bump Theo from L4 to L5.

cmlobue's pregen α |

I would also be interested in 4-08, and my normal champion should be free for it.

GM Super Zero |

I do have that one. It was the other scenario I was assigned for PaizoCon that didn't fire. It's a 3-6.
Let's see...
The party convinced Star of their good intentions (sort of? You technically never did that, but you didn't have to because you won the race so Sounrel never lied to them in the first place), so I check box A.
Sounrel died, so I check box D.
You completed your primary objective by finding Star's location and defeating Sounrel's forces.
You completed your secondary objective by reaching Star before Sounrel's forces or convincing them of your good intentions (see, here they're listed as two separate things...).
You completed the Vigilant Seal faction goal by reaching Star in 16 days or fewer (exactly!). You did not complete the Grand Archive faction goal, but you were told in advance the faction leaders knew their goals were mutually exclusive and completing both was impossible.
For defeating the scorpions, you earn two treasure bundles.
For finding the merchants' lost wares (in the quicksand), you earn two treasure bundles.
For visiting the ruin sites and oasis, you earn one treasure bundle each for a maximum of three.
For defeating Sounrel's forces, you earn three treasure bundles.

![]() |

I am also interested if you run the second part.

![]() |

Count me in if its happening =)

Chronicles distributed.
And, uh... give me a few days, but anyone who wants to continue with Battle for Star's Fate can sign up here.
