What if:
An AI was trained using all of Paizo's art assets, and then was made available on the Paizo site so that we could create our own avatars (and export them to other sites) by giving the app our preferred parameters from the character creation options?
I'm pretty sure that artists working for Paizo already have enough of a headache with nerds running around the Internet with their art plastered left and right without attribution to add this problem to the mix.

Without trying to bait people by throwing around insults like "nerds" I suspect that neither Paizo nor its contracted artists are super eager to have their art assets collated and placed into a blender through the controversial use of machine-aided image generators which nullify their copyright.

If the assets are all controlled by Paizo, and are generated on its site, then the copyright for the new imagery can still be asserted by Paizo.
They do it with the digital versions of all their other print products when they watermark them each time they are downloaded. How would this be different?
The point of Paizo generating the database and also creating the new imagery is specifically to maintain the same control over the output as they currently have for all their other digital products.

Unless you're an IP lawyer, I think that opinion needs to be backed up by something more than an anonymous forum handle.

Thanks for your feedback. AI generated art is polarizing and I don't think Paizo will be touching it for the foreseeable future. We want control of our brand and image and human artists are the best way to get exactly what we want. We are focused on improving our e-commerce, user experience, and community guidelines, among other projects, over avatar creation at this time. Thanks for participating in the Paizo Forums.
