Well done, Ashtoret! :-D

GM Valen wrote:Wait... does this mean Ashtoret just needs to attack one of us (even non-lethal and/or not hitting) and the effect will be removed? Or would that be metagaming? o:-)As a result of the magical effect of what has been confirmed to be a bell of obedience, the affected Pathfinder are under a compulsion that prevents each of them from taking violent actions or doing anything destructive, although they can defend themselves.
Ashtoret knows that any aggressive action taken against an affected, calmed creature or injury dealt to one of them immediately breaks the spell as to all the affected, calmed creatures.
The scenario as written doesn't appear to anticipate the PCs using the bell, but as the mission involves identifying it, stats for the object were presented for the bell in a later supplement, and a Spellcraft DC was set out in the PFS Secondary Success Conditions document (having not been included in the original scenario), it made sense to me to play it out.

In order for our party to survive:
Can we other players decide to bot Menudo and send him into melee? Or at least make him heal Theron with LoH?
It really doesn't make it easier to win this battle if we have one of our two tanks doing nothing, not even taking some of the hits that now others in range have to suffer.
Please note that I'm NOT blaming the player as RL always comes first. But we should be able to adapt to the situation...

I am fine with another player botting Menudo.

Ok, then I propose we send him into melee - in order to:
- stop the elemental from following Merida (she's one hit away from dropping)
- heal Theron with LoH (to make him last longer)
- draw the elemental's attacks to protect squishier party members
Fine with you?

3 Pathfinders down? Anyone else expecting a TPK?
Totally Possible Komeback! Come on, casters! You can DO THIS!

Actually, according to the rules, Nightkit is faking it. At 0 HP you are disabled (and therefore staggered), but neither unconscious nor dying. (Source)
And unfortunately, Merida is already dead: she is at -15 HP with CON 14... (Source)
This is what I was afraid of when our paladin was not charging into melee...

I can't sneak attack it, I've used my magic missiles already since I used one in the first combat. Sorry I'm not much use. I can go full defensive and try and distract it.

Under the circumstances (which include, but are not limited to, our healer having not posted for an extended period of time and the finality of the consequences), I have no problem allowing a retcon to have had Menudo having healed Merida during the round that he delayed. Any such healing would not have been enough to prevent Merida from going down, but even the minimum roll would have been enough to prevent her from dying instantly.

Ashtoret, have you already used your Arcane Bond class feature today?
If not, you could cast fireball one more time!
Maybe aim for a square directly 20 ft above the elemental (if the ceiling is at least that high)?

Just a heads up to the table. I am attending a local convention this weekend with my son, so my posting may be limited--or even nonexistent--between now and Monday.

If I may, I will also speak out on the topic of rules. It seems to me that in addition to the Core Book rules, we also still have a common sense, the rule of thumb up and the like... Grabbing someone unconscious and dragging is something that doesn't require special skills (even IRL...), obviously. It's not a combat maneuver etc.

I beg pardon, a whole week (including weekends) with almost no sleep, flights and a ton of work. I lied to myself everyday that I would find time in the evening, at the airport etc, and of course it was self-deception. Now this period is over and a new one like this is not expected in the near future.

Chronicles are posted here.
Thanks all for playing. This has been a great group. I hope to share tables with you each in the future!
I would not be opposed to GMing the Destiny of the Sands trilogy if there is sufficient interest for a table. However, given my current schedule and life circumstances, I probably wouldn't start it until early July.

Game has been reported.
Seebonickk Please confirm that you are using a replay for this table.
I plan to keep this campaign active for a couple of weeks to allow discussion of a possible upcoming run of Destiny of Sands or something else.
If you wish me to mark a player/PC inactive, please confirm receipt of the chronicle sheet with your request and I will remove you.

Chronicle received, applied, and filed.
Hopefully the Venture Captain is sufficiently entertained.
As for Destiny of Sands, it looks like Nightkit is still eligible to play those as they're 1-5 except for the last one that's 3-7. Currently she's one xp off level 5.

Thank you very much for running this four scenarios, GM Valen!
And thanks for playing, everyone.
I had a very good time! XD
Will download the Chronicle later today, I'm on my phone right now.
I am happy to wait until July to play Destiny of Sands! :-D
Thank you for offering.
Merida will be eligible to play those, with this Chronicle she just leveled up to Fighter 5. :-)

Thank you all! This were amazing games. I would love to play the Destiny of the Sands too. I only remember the third scenario, but I don't remember much about the first two. As I said, I GMed it about 7 years ago... Many things have happened since that .)

I'm not my PC might be CORE in the system by mistake. I'm open to playing Destiny series in July but my wife and I are going to Alaska on a bucket list thing of mine and it couldn't commit till like the 17th
thanks!

I do not have a (free) Core PC in the 1-2 range - and I would love to play Merida again.
We might want to look for an additional PC (divine caster?), though - we lost our paladin on the way...
Nightkit

I've only got two CORE PCs and it looks like both of them are committed.

Maybe we'll see what everyone else wants to do? and we could average the APL out. The first mod is 1 to 5.

I don't have another core character at all. I would like to continue with this, especially the third scenario 3-7.

Great! Looks like we have a table. I am fine with a July 17thish start time.
Still I will leave this campaign open for a bit longer until I get a new table up.

Currently, this table consists of two fighters, two rogues and a wizard.
I still think we should have someone in the party who can manage (at least out-of-combat) healing without a chance to fail an UMD check...
roll4initiative has a Core character in the appropriate level range (Corenthiir, ranged bard). I also really like his playstyle and I think he hasn't played the Destiny of Sands scenarios in Core. It looks like he would need to use slow progression on the first scenario to not level out of range for the second scenario, though.
Shall I ask him if he is interested to join our table?

Hi, everyone! I only recognized a couple PC's names, but, when I looked at Paizo handles... I know you all!!!
Thank you for the consideration! I'm more than happy to join in on the Destiny of the Sands trilogy. I'll check this thread more often than my PMs, so keep me up to date in here.
Cheers!

Welcome, Corenthiir! Finally, we found ourselves a dedicated healer! :-P ;-) [/joking]
Great to have you at our table, roll4initiative! :-D

FYI. I was diagnosed with my a serious infection last night. I've since undergone surgery and am scheduled for a number more over the coming week. I will be hospitalized for at least that long.
I am currently in good spirits, have a fair amount of energy and some sudden free time. I don't know how long any of those will last. Unfortunately, that means my offer to eun the trilogy will have to fo on hold.
Ashtoret

GM Valen, I wish you a speedy recovery!
By the way, I'm going away for three weeks from the end of July to the middle of August. Retreat again, three weeks of meditation, yoga and a complete lack of Internet, TV and other such things. You can play the first part of the trilogy without me if you wish, I will only be glad of your fun. But don't lose me completely - I'll join you on parts 2 and 3!
Or, in light of the newly discovered circumstances, maybe we'll just start in mid-August all together.

oh snap...that sucks man. you got this.
i have no issue waiting. this is my only core toon...and there's isnt exactly a lot of core games out there.
I could run something if people want?
Merida Bowie

Uh-oh, that doesn't sound good. GM Valen, best wishes to get well soon!
I'm fine with a start in mid-August - hopefully, our GM is able to run it then.
No pressure, though. ;-)
@Seebonickk/Qstor: Thanks for offering, but running another scenario before the Destiny of the Sands would put Corenthiir out of tier of the second scenario of the trilogy. I can wait.
However, if you are eager to run something anyway: Would you like to run a scenario in Standard? I have plenty of standard characters (level 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8) that are waiting for an opportunity to gain XP... ;-)
| GM Valen |
My recovery continues. I am told all signs of progress are good, but the process is slow. Pain is reducing but my energy becomes sapped quickly. A full recovery by early August appears to be a possibility, so I am shooting for a mid-August start to the next trilogy.
I am inclined to leave this campaign open as a reminder, but if folks prefer, I will make it inactive (then ask for the players to poke me closer to game time).
