Okay, Quest for the Frozen Flame is only a month or so out and there isn't the feverish fervor on the Boards like there usually is.

For me, there are a handful of Paizo products I'm looking to buy, the Absalom book, Legends maybe, and Jacobs' Malevolence -- so I'm wondering if I should wake up the old AP subscription for Quest for the Frozen Flame -- both to add to my adventure resources, and also to get that 10% subscriber discount on the other titles I'm looking at.

But I am not really sold on Three volumes of Realm of the Mammoth Lords.

Can the authors/developers Pretty Please chime in and talk up this AP -- go into some detail about the trio of volumes as a whole and individually? I'd like some more in depth description of the campaign and its parts.

The lack of hype has me a little worried too, The Realm of the Mammouth Lords is my favourite region in the setting and i have waited years for an AP that finally takes us there. I hope they do it justice and they give it the attention it deserves. But maybe they are just waiting for Strenght of Thousands to end and i am just paranoid.

I don't know that there's a lot to try and sell you; you either think a "caveman" AP with lots of wilderness exploration sounds cool, or you don't.

I'm not too enthused about it - my favorite bits of play are politics in cities - but I'm content to sit it out, especially with Outlaws of Alkenstar after. Maybe it'll be too awesome to ignore? I'd like that surprise.

Eager to see that Player's Guide release soon, hopefully.


You guys still haven't learned that every AP is awesome.

No exceptions.

Paizo doesn't make bad APs. I don't think they can make even mediocre ones.

I need to explain that at some point.

Reading the Player's Guide has helped with my expectations! I liked the houses, the NPCs briefly mentioned, and the leadership sub-system rules foreshadowing the AP's trajectory.

My only nitpick was the font choice for the AP's title/headers. It just looked a little goofy compared to the tone they were describing in the actual guide.

I'm with keftiu, I'll probably pass on this one knowing that Alkenstar is next.

So the Player's Guide is out now. keftiu, I'm glad to see it has you more intrigued. I feel like it is the best source for deciding if the AP is for you and yours.

I've also answered some questions in the volume 1 product page. We will talk about the AP on the next Paizo LIVE in late January. You can also look forward to Frozen Flame prologue fiction.

Don't forget the volumes will include back-matter articles full of lore you can't access from the Open Gaming License sites like Archives of Nethys.

That religion article might be enough to get me onboard with this volume. I /love/ regional takes on gods, and hope we can continue to see more of them going forward.

I believe book 3 has a Mammoth Lord archetype in it. Not sure if that includes the ability to ride mammoths, but maybe? Here's hoping :)

Hooray, I always wanted a mammoth lord character on either a megafauna or a dino!


I think part of the problem is Blood Lords sounds fricking awesome. Now I'm looking forward to that over everything else.

I was initially looking forward to Quest for Frozen Flame as the next one I wanted to run. It sounded interesting. But now I'm all in on Blood Lords and Quest and Outlaws just seems like they're getting in the way of Blood Lords.

Probably best not to mention some awesome AP with a great name and a concept that seems extremely new and interesting. People will want that as soon as they can get it overlooking what is in front of it.


Outlaws of Alkenstar is the most exciting of the bunch for me. We’re getting a whole volume of time magic weirdness and Mana Wastes fun.

Having read the AP, "caveman" is a really offensive characterization. It does have hex crawl elements though.
