Are there swamps in the Mwangi Expanse? If so, what are they called and what do we know about them?

I’m getting lots of hits for the word “swamp” in the 2e Mwangi book - do you have that? It describes one in the ruins of Nagisa, says that’s most of the Sodden Lands, and then says many of the Mwangi’s lakes are surrounded by swamp.

You can generally assume that any region as large as the Mwangi Expanse has a lot of various swamps, even if none are specifically mentioned in print. It is essentially a geological impossibility for a large region to not have swamps unless the entire region is a completely dry desert or an arctic desert.

Absolutely there are swamps. Swamps are just a transitional area between water (rivers, lakes, etc.) and woodlands. Since there are numerous lakes and rivers in the expanse, and a whole lot of forest/jungle there's going to be plenty of swamps. It's just that the river/lake and the forest is going to be of more interest to most folks since swamps are comparatively inconvenient (it's comparatively hard to build there, it's comparatively hard to extract resources, and it's comparatively hard to transport things through swamps).

It's a good place to escape attention, if you can deal with the bugs, wildlife, and everything being wet all the time though.

I wrote the section on the Sodden Lands in the Mwangi Expanse book. What do you want to know?

Hmm
