Hey all.
I'm sorry for askign the age old Counteracting query again but I'm getting to high level play now and my head is getting mashed by all the different rules.
My players will be encountering a
Shining Child
https://2e.aonprd.com/Monsters.aspx?ID=367
Which has the spell turning spell (7th level spell)
https://2e.aonprd.com/Spells.aspx?ID=297
When I want to react the spell turning I need to roll a d20+7 against the players spell DC for example is 32? They can cast up to 7th level spells.
I have no way of getting a sucess is that correct and can only counteract a 6th level spell or lower?

No, you use their spell modifier (10 lower than their DC when nothing separate is given) and roll 1d20+23.Correct:
Core Rulebook pg. 305 2.0 Some spells, such as dispel magic, can be used to eliminate the effects of other spells. At least one creature, object, or manifestation of the spell you are trying to counteract must be within range of the spell that you are using. You attempt a counteract check using your spellcasting ability modifier and your proficiency bonus for spell attack rolls.Source

Thank you for the help but could I ask where this rule is written in the core rule book?
I'm also unsure how you can work out the spellcaster ability modifier for the monster and it proficieny bonus going off the monster stat block?

Hammerjack already mentioned DC-10.
You find the rules in the CRB on page 447/448
Spell attack roll result = d20 roll + ability modifier used for spellcasting + proficiency bonus + other bonuses + penalties
Spell DC = 10 + ability modifier used for spellcasting + proficiency bonus + other bonuses + penalties
If I call ability modifier used for spellcasting + proficiency bonus + other bonuses + penalties equal to X
then
Spell DC = 10 + X
and
Spell attack roll result = d20 roll + X
or
Spell DC -10 = X
It is a little bit backward - and if you have attack spells they normally add the attack bonus explicitly. But DC -10 is easy enough to be done.
