Capital weapons can be mounted only on Huge or larger starships. Capital weapons can’t be brought to bear against Tiny or Small targets and are typically used only against other large vessels.
(Bolded emphasis mine)
Spinal-Mount weapons from Starship Operations Manual do not appear to have this restriction. Can spinal-mount weapons target tiny or small targets?

Well by the looks of most of them being line weapons, I would say yes, since they are not directly tareting the ship, just the general location they are in. One of the ones I saw has Orbital, which adds penalties to targetting smaller ships.
Nothing in the Spinal weapons states they can't target something.

Was thinking more area of effect rather then direct targeting. Since we are talking about a rather large 'beam' of energy or what ever it is
Yeah, might be hard to hit a spider with a pistol but probably easier with a flame thrower
It's still hitting a target in the vastness of space, and regular capital line weapons don't get such a benefit.
It's most likely still an oversight imo.

My question is if the spinal mount configuration is a thing could a Large, or even Medium, space ship mount a capital weapon in a similar configuration, much like the A-10 Warthog and its beast of a main weapon?
Not by the rules. Also of you followed all the rules about aiming and recharging a spinal mount, I doubt you'd want to spend your BP as a player.
