He's mostly suffering from depression and trauma, he didn't leave because he thought Zon-Kuthon was wrong, he left because he couldn't take the brutal treatment. While he's certainly desensitized to violence, he's not a particularly violent or rebellious person himself (he'd probably be an ISTJ personality).

I think there's a flaw in the premise (as other replies have hinted at) that moving on from deity X implies moving to a specific deity.
Defining through a negative is difficult, especially if he's not strongly anti-Zon-Kuthon and in Golarion which holds so many alternate religions to pursue.
He's LN and in the central region, so a quick scroll through the standard deities should suffice to find one who appeals to your PC and that likely will have little to do with being non-Kuth.
Personally, it sounds like he'd go for somebody nurturing, maybe not because he wants to nurture (yet), but because he needs succor after the brutal treatment. That suggests Saranrae IMO, but Pharasma offers solace of a sort too (which may connect with his nihilistic roots better).

In general I agree, leaving a deity does not necessitate a new deity. However, in this specific instance, this particular character does want to do that.
I agree, he would go for someone nurturing, but given his LN alignment many of the traditional deities that would fill such a role wouldn't accept him. Pharasma is definitely a good choice, and the only reason I'm considering Narakaas over her is because of their history of dealing with velstracs and the domain overlap with Zon-Kuthon, which might make the transition easier.

So... at a question, *why* is he still LN? I mean, he literally fled his old life, duties, and obligations, breaking ties with his entire support structure and originating culture. That's a pretty severely chaotic act. It sounds like he's currently in the "I'm hurting, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with my life and how to deal" stage, and that might lead to some flexibility in his alignment.

He's LN because he likes to be part of a system, he likes there to be a strong authorative government/legal system, he likes consistency and stability and for things to run smoothly. While he doesn't go out of his way to hurt or harm others, he also doesn't go out of his way to help others either. He would really only do either of those things if he was asked/told to. He doesn't have enough empathy to be good, and he has too much apathy to be evil.
Like I said earlier, he doesn't particularly believe that Zon-Kuthon or the Kuthites are wrong (Nidal takes patriotic pride in the fact that they made the right choice to subject themselves to Zon-Kuthon, proven by the fact that they survived Earthfall where no other civilizations did), he left because he just couldn't deal with being hurt anymore. From his perspective, he had a job to do that he was too weak to do. He feels that the problem is with him, not with the Kuthites. However, also in there is a feeling of anger at the Kuthites, since he feels that they had an obligation to give him an appropriate job, to use him in the way that he was best suited for, and they failed to do that, which lead to him mentally breaking. He's not rebelling against the Kuthites (which would be what I imagine a chaotic reaction would be), and he doesn't think that in general their religion/politics are wrong, he just feels like they failed him specifically.
From a mechanics perspective, this came about because I hit level 9 and thought it'd be cool to use multitalented to take a witch dedication, with the patron being a deity/servant thereof interested in helping him move on.
