Quick question about "Hit the Dirt!"

Gunslinger Class

This came up in a game last night. If a gunslinger uses "Hit the Dirt" against a ranged attack, and their Leap puts them in the attack's next range increment, what happens? Does the enemy attack now take an increased range penalty? Or is the enemy attack roll still based on their initial space?

I think the action of leaping is what provides the bonus to AC. So I think the attack roll is based on the initial space (where they took the action).

Yeah, the AC bonus is basically a "did they jump out of the way at the right time?"
If the bonus is enough to make it miss, yes, the bullet hit where they were AFTER they jumped. If not, they get hit, THEN jump.
