Is there a best guess for where the tarrasque is?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Beyond "a cavern in Avistan", do we have an idea of where the thing is sleeping?

I don't think so, and that's almost certainly intentional, just in case they want to use it later, or more likely so that GMs can plop it into whatever nation they're having a party adventure in without having to worry about contradicting established lore.

I didn't even know it was there; I thought it slunk back to the Pit of Gormuz this whole time.

I'd say it is wherever you need it to be for your campaign.

They don't love me anymore ever since that Treerazer jerk showed up. - Overheard in a dark cave in <redacted>.

What if the years of neglect are not kind to our armageddon engine friend and it's just vegging out in front of the TV in slack pants getting fat on snacks and ignoring the bills piling up in the letterbox?

Gotta be under a city for maximum carnage when it awakens!

Plot twist. It's laid a couple hundred eggs while sleeping. It's awakening will be preceded by dozens of CR 20-ish mini-spawn...

Well I asked because I'm actually considering incorporating the city of Salt in Wounds(third party setting, remote, evil city where the tarrasque has been captured & is being perpetually butchered for meat & materials) into Golarion and I'm doing a bit of shopping around for location.

Going to have to do a bit of modification on both ends to make it work; if I were to go by the timeline of the city the as given the tarrasque would have woken up around 4326 AR & would have been captured in 4443 AR... which based on the timeline I'm going on there wasn't a whole lot going on in the 4300s but having the tarrasque be stomping around for that long would have a butterfly effect I'm not particularly keen on dealing with. Though on the other hand it might be useful in excising a few parts of the setting I'm not a big fan of. So, little give & take there. Probably going to shave it down from 117 year rampage to something more like a decade or two; I'm more interested in what Golarion does to Salt in Wounds than I am in what Salt in Wounds does to Golarion.

As for location I'm currently debating on the Tusk Mountains vs the Kodars as they're more in line with the climate of what's described in the SiW. Comes down to "do I want it to have been that close to the world wound for that long?" vs "do I want it to end up that close to New Thassilon?".

No, no Tarrasque breeding grounds please. I've already got enough PTSD.

Besides, we should absolutely save the Tarrasque for PF3e. If the Whispering Tyrant coming back was enough to set off a new edition, imagine the Tarrasque coming back and wiping a few nations off the map.
