Hello,
my PCs just add their first hostile run-in with the gray maidens, and i was wondering about something.
Is it ok for the PCs to sell gray maiden armors in Korvosa ? I mean, they have a specific look about them, so i think any merchant is gonna realise quickly where does those armors come from. So i doubt they would be willing to buy them.
I don't want to take loot away from my PCs, though. Thoses armors are full plate, and worth 750 gp a piece, wich is quite a big deal for level 6 PCs.
So what have you people done in your Cotct campaign about that ?
They don't have too much longer to go before they can get someplace like Kaer Maga and offload all the loot they get from the end of Book 2 and all of Book 3 because they're basically fugitives soon after Book 2 ends.
Agreed. They aren't going to be able to openly sell this armor in Korvosa. Perhaps one of them has ties to the Cerulean Society (the thieves' guild), and could fence it there (that's what happened in my campaign), as thieves would probably find potential use in disguising someone as a Gray Maiden. But your average armorer shop on the street? Hell no, they're not touching that, at least not without a STEEP discount.
Alternatively, they can wait to sell it after Escape from Old Korvosa (probably not many who could afford to pay market rate for the armor IN Old Korvosa, but there would definitely be people who would want the armor there, as it would allow them to potentially get off the island (though the bridges are already destroyed by that point, so it definitely wouldn't be easy... though I think there are patrols of Gray Maidens listed as a random encounter in EfOK... so the possibility exists)).
I played it the same as KSB, they could use underworld and black market contacts to sell the armor. Lots of nefarious individuals would love to get their hands on official armor of the queen for a rainy day.
