Need help destroying a large, undead raising bell

Advice

Our party consist of a ratfolk mouser, a ratfolk beastmorph/vivisectionist (me), a tiefling wizard, a merfolk bard, an ocean elf and an undine cleric (CN). We're all level 5 and the campain is on the shackles (can't recall the exact name, it's pirate themed)

We met an undead ship and one of our players character died and got his soul stolen by a bell, so I wanna hunt it down to destroy it to free his soul ( A barbarian, he's playing a wizard now). I'd normally toss fireballs at it until it's dead but the problem is that if the captain (some sort of undead that tosses spectral hands at people to insta-kill them, not sure what it is but I'll just tanglefoot bag it into submission) dies, the whole ship dissapears and respawns at a later date, so we need something more... focused.

I was thinking of using rust powder but it doesn't work on magical items, is there something else I could toss at it? some focused explosive or something specialized on item destruction? Like petrified ooze but faster.

Our strength scores suck so trying strength checks to break it doesn't seem an option.

Our barbarian buddy is probabbly an undead now, and he had a pretty decent strength score, is there a non-evil way to control undeads?

We got plenty of crafting feats: potions, scrolls, magical tattoos, wondreus items

tame or capture a rust monster?

we don't have a monster trainer so taming one is out of the picture, might be worth a shot capturing a few and releasing them on the undead ship, if we could transport them from ship to ship in the middle of a ship battle.

Break is only 1st level, so very spammable. You'd need to make it fail two saves, but it should get there in the end.

This spell seems a bit good to me...often better than Shatter which is higher level.

The party trapped a Rust Monster in a Portable Hole, then the Rogue sneaked into the castle armory before they attacked... just have to remember to open it up a little bit every 9 minutes to refresh the air in there, throw it some BS to snack on if you plan to keep it in there for a while.

Command undead isn't actually an [evil] spell, and the tiefling wizard should be able to cast it if you can get a copy for them.

On breaking the bell, if strength checks are involved maybe someone can summon an earth elemental? Or there's mineral acid as a 50 gp item for damaging it I guess. The consecrate spell should work (& the cleric could cast it) if it's related to an evil god.

Well, the bell can't ring if no one is there to ring it.

This is a key plot point from the Skull & Shackles AP, so asking there could get more ideas, but watch out for spoilers. I know our party handled it without requiring great strength.
