DR and weapon type question

Whats the difference between a slashing AND piercing weapon and a slashing OR piercing weapon, etc.

And what does adding a plus 3 magical bonus do to weapons against DR.

If it has an "and" you need both, but if it has an "or" either one will do.

If a weapon has an enhancement bonus of +3, it now counts as silver or cold iron as well. Some creatures have DR that is only overcome by those special materials, so that +3 can be handy.

A Piercing and bludgeoning (ie morning star) weapon will always do both types of damage.

A Piercing or bludgeoning (ie cestus) weapon will do one or the other.

This is primarily an issue when you don't want to do a given type of damage. For example if you hit an ochre jelly with the morning star it will split, if you hit it with the cestus, you could choose to only do bludgeon damage and thus not have it split.
