Two items, one slot

Rules Questions

So you can only benefit from one magic item in a given slot. But some slots (such as neck and ring) have room to physically wear more than one item. So what happens if you put on two different amulets?

Obviously you would only benefit from one of them. Which one? The one that was there first? The most recent? What if you're not wearing any, then grab two and put them on at the same time?

If there's already a rule that covers this, I missed it, so if you know, please share. :)

You can pick which and switch as a standard action, as I recall.

I'd say this bit covers it, making the answer "the first one put in the slot":

Quote:
Of course, a character may carry or possess as many items of the same type as he wishes. However, additional items beyond those in the slots listed above have no effect.

Where'd you find that?

@Chemlak - Hm, that's one way to read that line, I suppose. Interesting.

I had always assumed that you benefited from neither. As in they shorted out until you only had the working number. But I don't have anything other than "that's the way we've always done it" to back it up.

I feel like I just read something about this last week. It might have even been an SKR quote? I will try to find it.

First worn, first active.

Wearing multiple items can help should sundering, theft, or item swapping is frequently needed. The last will save you some actions.

I say that when two items are put on the same slot their magic interferes with each other preventing both from working.

Exactly the kind of guidance I was looking for! Thanks!

If you are buying items, rather than finding them, remember that it is possible to construct slotless items. However, they are twice as expensive. Ioun stones are one example, but it would be very easy to imagine slotless rings, necklaces, and earrings as well.

Glad I could help!
