Can't contact my VC or Regional VC

Hello everyone,

I'm interested in setting up PFS games at three of my local game shops, and perhaps sign up as a VA. In my state here in Mexico, there are no VAs, VLs or VCs. The closest VC is about halfway across the country. I've contacted my RVC on November 23 and have gotten no reply. About a week ago I also contacted the VC for Guadalajara, Mexico and haven't gotten a reply either. Is this normal?

I just want to know more about my responsibilities if I do apply as a VA.

If you get anything going let me know I'll add you to the map

You don't need to be a venture critter to run games, anyone with a PFS number playing by the rules can set up a table and run. So don't let a lack of reply stop you from getting to the important part.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Before I was a VA, I was organizing & hosting games at my local game store for several years. Just start doing it. No need to be a Venture Officer. You may want to focus on just 1 store first. It can be quite difficult or overwhelming handling the scheduling for more than 1 store. Hopefully others can help you out with organization. Best of luck!

The venture captain halfway across the country should be your first point of contact if there are no active VL's or VA's in your state, and should provide you with guidance. You can read more about the responsibilities here:
https://paizo.com/organizedplay/coordinators/volunteer

I also notified one Mexican VA about this message, and asked them to help you get in contact with the right people.

Also, to my understanding there's quite a backlog on venture officer appointments etc - probably to do with the organized play foundation thingie and 2e, so getting signed on as an official venture officer can take some time (my promotion to VL and a couple VA appointments from august haven't yet gone through.)

Qué onda, morro.

I just linked this thread to the VC from Guadalajara. Last time we spoke he was busy with RL stuff. While we wait for him to contact you feel free to PM me with questions.

Thank you, everyone.

I did contact the VC from Guadalajara a week ago as well, but if he's busy with RL I can understand the delay. I'm not sure I want to be a VA yet, hence why I reached out to know about running PFS games. I didn't want to mess up and affect both regular and future players if I filled out something wrong.

@Hector, I'll PM you my questions.

Thank you all once again.

Bienviedo!

If you're not going to register as VA soon, I highly suggest you have the store you are organizing at register as a Paizo retail store. They will get free access to the scenarios and pass that onto you. You will also be able to take advantage of the Retail Incentive Program.

Cheers!

You can find Coordinator Responsibilities here.

VA Tasks:
Venture-Agent Tasks

  • Update contact info for yourself and any GMs at your site with your VL/VC.
  • Build a positive rapport with your store or community group leadership. Encourage stores to register as retailers on paizo.com/retailers.
  • Acknowledge different styles of role-play and their presence in the Pathfinder Society.
  • Schedule games catering to a variety of play styles, based on the needs and desires of your community.
  • Identify any issues to your local VL, so that they may begin the conflict resolution process.
  • Meet with your VL/VC on a monthly basis to receive mentoring, discuss local issues, and identify growth areas. Online/telephone meetings count for this requirement.
  • Submit monthly status reports to your VL/VC including the number/type of sessions ran, current numbers of players/GMs, and other requested metrics. These reports are due the first Thursday of the month following the reporting period.
  • Support your VL/VC in maintaining a searchable online presence for your area with current game information.
  • Coordinate sessions at one site at least twice a month. Less frequent scheduling is permitted, subject to VC/VL approval.
  • Ensure games run at your site are reported on paizo.com.
  • Run one session a month at a public venue where any may attend.

Pssst, if you have Discord you can send me a DM @Khaoz#2023. (My e-mail server went bust a couple days ago and I'm still trying to fix it.)
