PF1 So... any plans to complete the Additional Resources?

I'm sorry if some people view my comments as unnecessarily harsh, I love the PF1 system, and the world of Golarion. When it feels like Paizo is too busy shoveling dirt into the shallow grave they are pushing PF1 into to bother doing anything else with it, I may take it a bit more personally than I should.

They were always a little slow getting AR updates out, but now that they have their new baby to take care of, it seems like they are completely neglecting their older child.

Compound that with the horrible decline in quality of PF1 products as they focused more and more attention on SF and PF2 (Seriously, how did some of the stuff in Ultimate Wilderness actually make it to print?). Plus the absolute refusal to fix problems they know full well exist (some of which have existed for literally years).

I love PF1...and I really want to love PF2...but why should I support a company that refuses to support their own products? Why should I believe that 5 years from now, PF2 won't be in the exact same situation PF1 has been in for years, with known rules conflicts that Paizo refuses to weigh in on in any official manner? I could hop over to the rules forum for PF1 right now and find a dozen threads with over 1000 replies, dating back to 2011, that Paizo has been actively ignoring.

Finally, it is even more frustrating when 95% of my game play is limited to the organized play guidelines because that is what all of my local game community uses.

At least recently I have been seeing an big uptick within that group who is questioning why we are bothering to continue using society rules for local games, so I may be able to shake those limitations before too much longer.

For what it’s worth your frustrations are absolutely justified and shared with a large part of the community.

The insults not so much.

I don't think anyone really feels your comments are unnecessarily harsh, though uninformed perhaps, but I rather think that as Rysky pointed out it's the fact that you dive from reasonable criticisms to outright insults and back that most people might be offended by. It can be hard to separate the two when you're passionate about something, but if you re-read things before hitting post in the future you might notice the points where things go from valid concerns like "this is not helpful because of X" or "I feel like this isn't the best way because of Y" to insults like "Z is just bad" or "this is because the people involved aren't doing their jobs" etc.

So, while I'm not thrilled with being "that guy"...

Is it Soon[tm] yet?

I don't find anything you said to be insulting, but I admit I have taken a fairly harsh position towards many of Paizo's practices lately so I may not be the best judge of what is offensive.

Its no secret that Paizo has a fairly poor track record with keeping the AR updated, but since 2E has dropped, they seem to be much, much better. The APG isn't technically released yet, but it is already added. That is awesome and if its a sign of things to come, an incredible improvement.

I'm afraid PF1 is, for all intents and purposes, dead with respect to support. It is certainly still playable and we have a lot of PFS1 still going on both at conventions and the online community in general so that is excellent news for those who still want to play it. However, we just need to accept the idea that Paizo is not going to invest any resources into 1E whether it be new content, updates to the FAQ/errata, the OP Guide, etc. If there are any lingering rules issues with 1E, you're going to have to address them with house-rules. That may not be what you want to hear, but its the reality we live in. Good luck and...

At this point, the only thing I'm really hoping for is the PFS sanctioning of Return of the Runelords. This had been promised, but I fear it is becoming increasingly unlikely.

It has now been a year and a half since the last update to PF1's Additional Resources - April 04, 2019.

With the extra time from not needing to set up for or travel to conventions, has there been no progress?

With PFS2 rolling out a huge update that requires web support, has there been no time to update this one page?

You say that like additional resources is something simple to roll out, and from working from home they have plenty of time (hint hint, this is a false assumption).

Incorrect on both counts.

I know it's not "simple". Besides getting the appropriate people to figure out what should be legal, there's updating what's apparently a poorly-designed site. Plus a blog post, which still only requires "people decide what's in it" and "site gets updated." No matter how terrible it is, updating the site should be the easier of those two requirements... which brings up the second point.

I'm not claiming they have "plenty of time", or that they "aren't doing anything." I'm just saying that "convention season had us super busy" was generally the reason for delays 3-4 months out of the year. Going off previous communications (from when PF1 was active), convention attendance was a major time sink (as could be expected.) With a dramatic reduction in the number of conventions, there's more space in the schedule for other things. Not "all the space" or "uncontested space", just "more space."

And those are assumptions you are having.

As I noted above back in July, I still live in the perhaps naive hope that the last two PF1 APs will be sanctioned. This was once promised, albeit in a pre-pandemic world.

As of this week it is still being promised

By month’s end, we aim to have sanctioning posted for Extinction Curse and the remainder of The Threefold Conspiracy. We’ll post a blog when we add them to the website, so keep an eye out on Thursdays! The team is also currently working through Tyrant’s Grasp and will begin to look at the still unsanctioned APs in the coming weeks.

Cool, I had not seen this. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

That is good news. I hadn't seen that bit, either.

It may be in a post that included everything except sanctioning in the title, wedged in with PF2 sanctioning... but it's news.

I would not say they are complete... The discussion about the Oozemorph is a prime example, a clarification is needed to have them have the same procession with attack modifiers/damage as the Shifter instead of being hampered as they are with Natural Attacks that look like weapons/claws.

Whether that is a PFS "house rule" clarification or an errata that it desperately needs, this is hardly the only case that needs adjusting with the last bit of PF1 errata or Additional Resources updates.

No, that discussion is wanted to address a power imbalance. The resources are complete. We just want more added to them.
