Rebuilding the Citadel

Age of Ashes

I've only breezed through the material on rebuilding and manning the citadel so I'm curious what peoples' experience has been. Do the rules seem okay for it? Does your group enjoy it? Is it playing a role in your adventure? I haven't seen it mentioned much, which is a bit disappointing, but I understand that Age isn't necessarily the castle-simulator adventure path.

For my group it's largely mechanical, but they are excited about the upgrades once the repairs are complete. They put Warbal in charge of things and then continued adventuring, paying wages and hiring help as needed when they return. Owning the citadel is a very background endeavor for my players, and is definitely not a castle-simulator. But what little there is, is fun and appreciated.

If the group wants to parallel some of the tasks, are there limits to the number of organize labor that can happen at once in terms of the local available workforce? (There's some limits in terms of the number of PC/hired overseers, but not sure if there's another limit in terms of untrained/specialist workers)

I have two players in my group thrilled by citadel and everything to do with it. The other two are... fine with it. They're happy to take up residence and claim rooms within, but they aren't about to join in on all the maths and costs.

What I've done is build a separate site for my players to work on the citadel through emails and a Pbp dice roller. This lets my two more interested players put in as much as they want, while the other two can sit back and make some passive income. Honestly, I'm still waiting to see how it goes.

I asked this in the other thread, but has anyone come up with a non-ruined map of Altaerein their players can reference after Hellknight Hill? Just trying to give them a reference to what will be their awesome home base once they remove all the debris and giant holes in the wall and stuff.

I'll probably end up hand-drawing it and that's their loss, haha.

I imagine there will be one in book 6, as apparently there will be something of a siege taking place. Going to have to wait another month for that to see the light of day, though.

I love what you did with that site! I may start working on a similar thing for my group. They're still in Hellknight Hill, but that'll give me time to prepare.
