Dark Archive 3/5 **

If there's already a thread for this scenario, let me know! I couldn't find anything with searches.

After playing this scenario, I noticed the following on the Chronicle sheet.

#2-04 Chronicle Sheet wrote:

white carbon skin (10,650; item level 10)

However, the core rulebook price for a white carbon skin is 19,650. I assume this is just a typo and not a fantastic discount?

I think its a general rule that fantastic discounts will be called out as such

Lore question about the scenario: what's up with the Veskarium people inside the simulation having uniforms that, in the "real" world outside the sim, are costumes from the Veskarium kids' holoshow Lone Survivor? The scenario says the uniforms are brightly coloured safari clothes, complete with comically out of place pith helmets and slouch hats.

What's that supposed to mean? It's brought up a few times, but never explained. It doesn't really impact the scenario, but first as a player and then as a GM reading through it, this little mystery is left dangling.

Hazarding a guess, I'd assume that the Salvation's End Intelligence wanted to replicate "authentic" Veskarium uniforms for the simulation, but somehow through either scarcity of information, or misunderstanding of context, it incorrectly thought the Lone Survivor uniforms were actual military issue.

That's basically correct. There's a lot of examples of the Intelligence having incomplete information and either having errors or oddities in the simulation. Pulling the data on Veskarium uniforms from a children's show is just one particularly amusing example. :-)

I also believe the carbon skin price is a typo.

I see several effects that refer to ‘the hazard area’, but it’s not on the map. Is there a description somewhere I’m missing? Where do the planted explosives go off? Where does the Thasteron explosion happen?

The hazard area in my turnover basically overlapped Z2, blowing up that 6x6 section south of building 4 in the middle of town. Since that marking's not there, I would assume it's Z2 that blows up. The planted explosives going off are tied to the thasteron explosion; they start setting off these charges and it ignites the thasteron causing a huge detonation. So the PCs get a warning that something bad is going to happen there and a chance to move and potentially lure enemies into it.

That's how I would personally run it anyway, barring word from development.

Got it. Thanks, Matt!

Question about during the exploration of Buyer's Remorse.

Each PC can explore one location in each phase. How much can they do in each location? They do have an hour and the settlement is not that big.

For example, if they explore the encampment, can they explore the repair shop, and the hydroponics, and the cantina and the VR parlor all in one phase?

Yea, because of the limited number of phases, my practice would be that a PC gets to choose one location to go to and can explore that entire location. So the Ysoki encampment is one spot in that context. In practice the idea is that the PCs have enough time collectively to make two attempts to succeed at checks at each location.

Please pretend that I said "twenty" instead of "twenty-two" and definitely know how to read Roman numerals

I imagined it as ex ex , that it's an error, an undefined variable. As long as it's weird and nonsensical feel free to be creative though :-)

Obscure question about an old scenario, but since I just started running this for my group: What kind of relationship does Yon have (more accurately, think he has) with Erith? Friends? An ex? Something else?

I was looking through my notes to see if I had any other detail, but I couldn't find anything. My memory is that it's a business associate that Yon is on friendly terms with since it's marked as business communication, but could as easily be his child who provides him with supplies and he also wants to see his grandkids. I think of Yon as the grandfatherly sort. There's nothing firmly established, so go with whatever seems most relatable to your group. Hope you all have fun! :)
