We had a rockin' time in the Diaspora!
I see what you did there. And now I want that on a t-shirt.
That game and that dinner are one of the highlights of my con. My crippling social anxieties make it almost impossible for me to meet new people, so I rely on others to help make introductions. Thanks, Hilary.
(And after listening to all of that night’s stories, I may have to make another attempt at PbP; sounds like an excellent stress-free way to meet new people and would probably improve my future PaizoCon experiences.)

Already covered my Thursday pre-con manicure, so now that I'm finished with the con itself and have a minute to be at the computer, here's how the rest of it went to the best of my recollection. So sorry to anyone I saw and forget to mention, a lot was going on!
Friday I show up about 10 to pick up my badge. Kate Baker is fighting clowns in a Starfinder delve with Cosmo and I linger for a bit and watch. Say hi to L. Pellazar, John Compton, and Isabelle Lee, then speed off to GM Ouroboros Killer, the first of my three games for the con.
After my game, I play in the Starfinder Actual Play game GMed by Thurston, along with Compton, Kate, and Diego. As mentioned upthread by Kate, it was an excellent time and very funny. Kate and I then meet up with Isabelle, HMM, Jacob (motteditor), David N. Ross and others at the bar to hang out. Later, Kate and I play Dread with Dennis, Jason Keeley, Rob (does Rob have a forum name I should be using instead?), and Tyler from Cosmic Crit Podcast.
On Saturday, I slept in then GMed Celestian's Compass. Before the banquet, I met up with David again, had a chance to chat with Tim Nightengale, Russ Taylor (Russ had some birthday brownies courtesy of his wife and they were great, thanks Jennifer!), and Stephen Radley-MacFarland before getting into the banquet line with Rob and Vanessa Hoskins.
At the banquet, Vanessa and I sat at Lyz Liddell and Landon's table, along with Kate, Dennis, and Patchen Mortimer. Kate, Vanessa, Patchen and I all exchange meaningful glances as products we contributed to are announced.
After the banquet, BB Wolfe and I participate in the trivia contest as Sarenrae After Dark, along with Landon, Mark Seifter (technically our record-keeper and not team member, as staffers can't join teams), and two other great people whose names I didn't catch. Sarenrae After Dark submits many excellent, extremely false answers, but we flew too close to the sun and are awarded 1 point by Lyz in the last round. Boo!
BB and I see a cat in the banquet hall, pet the cat, take pictures of and with the cat, and then I call it a night.
Sunday morning I sit down to do a delve with Sam Phelan, but I do a bad job of keeping track of time and have to bail about 3/4s through to go speak on the Freelance Forge panel. I then GMed my last game of the weekend, Sects Abject, get Taco Bell real quick, then play board games all night with way too many people to list. I attempted to go home, but when I swung into the bar to get a quick goodnight in to L Pellazar and others, I spot Greg Vaughan, Jacob, and Painlord, who tells me he enjoyed my post in this thread about my nails and insists I should post again. I give Greg my annual update on the availability of City of Seven Seraphs (he needs to buy it, it's very important), confirm for Painlord that I know Scott Young (his Scott Young), and we talk about cats. I give my truly awful business cards out to a few people and call it a night.
On Monday I shamble back in, hang out with Thursty and BB for a bit, then go to play in Greg Vaughan's finale of The Riverboat Game ft. Steampower with Kate, Dennis, Steve Helt, Al Riggs, Jason Nelson, Rachel Ventura, and others. Painlord drifts in and plays Merisiel after Kate and Dennis have left for the airport.
My plan for this game was to play Lem (the halfling bard iconic) but insist I was actually Gimble (3rd edition's gnome bard 'iconic'), but Greg doesn't have a copy of Lem. Instead, I play Meligaster (the halfling mesmerist iconic) and insist I am Gimble and therefore also a gnome and a bard. I also insist I am the station manager's son. I succeed on this bluff check. To be clear, the station manager was a human.
All in all a good con.

Aw man I missed Nick Logue!? BUMMER.
Also I should footnote that on my way back up to the hotel room I ran into Amanda Hamon and Thurston Hillman (I was very excited to meet Thurston because he, too, has written some of my favorite things) as they were attempting to decode the vending machine in the hotel hallway.
That vending machine was programmed by a truly evil GM but they did figure it out eventually. I applauded their puzzle cracking and staggered off incoherently.

Round 1: Paizo Staff and Lore
1) This year Paizo’s long-time remote editor Liz Liddell was hired as senior editor & moved to the Seattle area. In her introduction blog posted earlier this month, Liz is depicted wearing her GenCon 2017 cosplay outfit. What organization’s uniform is she wearing? The Stewards.
2) In anticipation of Pathfinder’s 2e, the Paizo.com blog features a series of flash fiction called Iconic Encounters, with each installment featuring one of the twelve iconic characters. Who is the author of Kyra’s Iconic Encounters story? James L. Sutter.
3) Every Thursday for the past several months on Paizo’s Twitch channel, Jason Bulmahn has streamed one-hour sessions of his ongoing campaign that features the upcoming Pathfinder 2e system. What is the name of this ongoing campaign? Oblivion Oath.
4) The Paizo.com messageboards are a busy place, and as of last night, 3 different threads have 75K or more posts. Name any of these 3 threads. Deep 6 FAWTL. Tales of Agartha: the Avalon Chronicles. Ask James Jacobs Anything.
5) In 2019 Amanda Hamon ran a short Starfinder adventure on Paizo’s Starfinder Wed Twitch stream to show off the Starfinder Beginner Box, featuring the iconic PCs teaming up with a moderately helpful skittermander. Round 2: Paizo Rules
1) Starfinder revels in the sheer variety of playable alien species. Alien Archive 2 introduces plenty more, including both a race of scientific slug people as well as a powerful multi-armed species that most often worships Hylax. Name other of these aliens. Osharu or Trox.
2) The new Adventure Card Game Core Set introduces several new mechanics featured in blogs over the past few months. If a first character fails to defeat a bane, a second character at the location can bury a card to encounter the bane for a second chance at defeating it. What is the name of this new mechanic? Avenge.
3) Starfinder Armory contains a wealth of new weapons, armor, and new equipment. However, while we might know this book for the huge # of options, there is only one item in the entire book that occupies an entire page. What is this item, which requires an extensive reference table all its own? Wonder Grenade.
4) In Pathfinder 2e, PCs use a special pool of points to cast class-specific spells, and PCs can recover some of these points between encounters. These point have featured several times during the Oblivion Oath adventure. What is the name of these points? Focus [points].
5) The magnificent Narvimensus is a 10th-lvl gnome alchemist with a 21 Intelligence and whose obsessive racial trait applies to Craft (Alchemy). He has maximum ranks in Craft (alchemy) as well as Skill Focus (Craft:Alchemy)and he constantly carries a stone of good luck. He’s set up a fine workshops that includes an alchemist’s lab from which he produces a wide variety of alchemical gear. Round 3: Paizo Adventures
1) During the Year of Scoured States, the Starfinder Society has traveled widely in the Vast, meeting many civilizations that hailed from the Scoured Star system. Name any one of these Scoured Stars species other than the notorious jinsuls. Izalguun. Nelentu. Syngathrix. Thyr.
2) In Pathfinder Society Scenario #6 Black Waters, the Society explores the ruins of a children’s school in the Precipice Quarter. The Pathfinders can later return there in Pathfinder Society Scenario #7-05: School of Spirits to uncover even more tragic secrets. Name either this school or the nickname of its ruins now bear. Tri-Towers Yard or Tri-Towers Academy or the Drownyard.
3) In the Tyrant’s Grasp AP, the Whispering Tyrant has developed a powerful new weapon with which he can devastate huge areas. What is the name given to this weapon in this AP? Radiant Fire.
4) In August 2018, Paizo released Doomsday Dawn, a module consisting of seven different chapters designed to test the playtest rules for Pathfinder’s 2e. What is the module’s seventh and final chapter, written by James Jacobs? When the Stars Go Dark.
5) Starfinder’s “Dawn of Flame” AP doesn’t just tread previously unexplored realms, but it also features excellent adventure authors. For how many authors is Dawn of Flame their first AP cover credit? #15 Joe Pasini; #17 Mark Moreland; #18 Jason Tondro.
Round 4: Paizo’s Campaign Settings
1) The Pathfinder: Kingmaker computer RPG gives the player control of their nascent kingdom’s development over the course of many months. However, the games a point of using Golarion’s month names, not the real-world names. The action begins in the month of Desnus, which corresponds to which real-world month? May.
2) The cover of Starfinder Pact Worlds features a ferocious beast that resembles a purple tyrannosaurus with scythe-like claws, and it was never quite clear what kind of creature it was—at least not until Alien Archive 2’s release, where the creature finally gained a name and statistics. What is the name of this Castrovelian creature whose Alien Archive 2 entry also features phasic scythes modeled after its claws? Nyssholora.
3) Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Faiths of Golarion features 10 deities more commonly worshiped beyond the Inner Sea region or revered by non-humans. Among these are three never-before-detailed deities, including an Arcadian deity of community, liberty, and safety. What is the name or title of this deity (who was also the patron deity of Adam Daigle’s character in James Jacob’s rendition of Temple of Elemental Evil)? Kazutal or Mother Jaguar.
4) The humble town of Sandpoint is among the most famous in the Pathfinder setting, having featured not only in Rise of Runelords, but also in recently published Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Sandpoint, Light of the Lost Coast. Round 5: Paizo Characters
1) In the Pathfinder Comics series Spiral of Bones by Crystal Frazier, the iconic fighter Valeros finds himself in the court of a powerful being Yindaal. What specific type of creature—not a broad category—is Yindaal, whose creature type is also featured in Pathfinder RPG Bestiary 4? Yamaraj.
2) The Starfinder Society has spent more than a year unraveling the secrets of the Scoured Stars system, most recently clashing with nefarious jinsuls. But greater yet is the powerful supernatural being associated with the Scoured Stars. Name either this divinity within the trinary star system or the herald who leads the jinsuls. Kadrical or Dhurus.

Ate lunch at the bar, readying for the mini trading that happens every year. I have a friend who was looking for a green haired Lini mini, and a few animal companions for ACG play. Erik Mona was set up early and ready to trade and then more and more traders showed up, and people could browse and trade. I only had my two boxes of minis that came in the PaizoCon swag bag, and hoped to trade them for Lini.
Strangely enough, the first table I went to had the exact mini I wanted. I offered them both of my unopened mini boxes for the perfect Lini...and they pretty much laughed at me. I was offering *way* too much in trade and so I asked if they had a horse. No, they didn't have a horse, but did have a broken unicorn, torn from his pedestal.
Me: "Fine, I'll give you both boxes for Lini and the broken unicorn. Maybe, given time, Lini will fix the unicorn." (this is solid logic in my brain)
Them: "No, that still isn't right." (translation: this guy is an idiot. i would feel bad robbing him)
Me: "Okay...one box then?"
Them: "Fine. But stop trying to give your boxes away."
Me: "Great."
I swap the Legends of Golarion booster box for the Lini and broken unicorn. They mention that they needed a certain queen and it might be in there. I shrugged, having no clue what that meant.
They find me 5 minutes later to tell me that the rare they wanted was, in fact, in the box.
Maybe I should have asked for more stuff. Anyhoot, I had the Skull & Shackles mini box that I couldn't, literally, give away, and so I just leave it on a table, hoping someone could find a home for it.
I'm tired as heck, but get to the gym, knowing that I can crash and watch Greg Vaughan's finale of The Riverboat Game ft. Steampower. My energy is all gone and get nothing done at the gym, but going into watch Greg GM the collected goonage that Al Rigg had assembled to finish the run was pretty entertaining.
Yes, I played a bit, but only after Kate & Dennis left and only after going back to Sharp's for dinner, getting the same amazing sammich that I had earlier. It was still good.
After the game, nearly 10:30pm (and I have no idea how Greg had the energy for all this), we head to the bar for some more talk and drinks. I'm mostly done and barely have a beer, but loved talking to people. Nick Logue showed up again and he remembered our talk from the night before. It was good.
By 1am, I'm wiped and go to bed. My flight out is at 9:30am the next morning and sometimes sleep is good.
I do note that there were lots of after Con games happening, which is pretty damn cool.

It was amazingly quick. I need to remember this for next year. But also, probably the most important part of this story is that I got a freshly made breakfast burrito with eggs, beans, 2 salsas, cheese, and guac for $5.78. In a major airport. Who won the con?
* Apparently, there was a pretty roaring all night gaming as the PFS/SFS room was open all night...and there were people who definitely gamed all night.
* Never saw any of the Glass Cannon crew all weekend. While I didn't make it to any of their scheduled events in their back section, it seemed that they were really tied up in their own events. I hope to listen to their recorded events later. They make me laugh.
* I forgot to mention that we got Pathfinder pint glasses and Pathfinder Second Edition coins at the Banquet. Pretty keen.

Weekday AM departures at SeaTac are often pretty quick, they frequently have the dogs out to do their sniff rounds, and don't make people take their shoes off or pull laptops out of bags.

I was going to update here with the rest of my con, but it turns out Jess pretty much covered most of it. I was delighted to spend so much time with you this weekend, Jess!
I played in Logan Bonner's preview game Saturday, which was awesome! I played a barbarian, because I like to smash.
I also ran author slots of both Sanctuary of Drowned Delight and Beneath Unbroken Waves. A player brought an amazing custom morlamaw mini to Sanctuary of Drowned Delight! My awesome players for BUW included BB Wolfe, Jacob Michaels, Shelly Hudson, Kitsune Warlock, and two other great players whose names I didn't get.

Also, everyone should check out the game Just One which I brought with me and played four separate times over the con.

I was not at your table, but I was cheering wildly when I saw those. I was excited to see products for which I had been one of the many freelancers show up on the big screen of the Banquet announcements. It's been almost a year exactly since I passed out my business cards at PaizoCon, and started timidly asking developers to consider me if they had work. Now I'm seeing some of those very first assignments turn into real announced products, and it was a bit of a thrill!

PPS My suspicion is that Wayfinder 20's open call will be posted soon. That's a great place to show off a little of what you can do!

So many updates because most evenings I was having such a great time I staggered back to my hotel room ready to pass out (from exhaustion, not drink this year... surprisingly).
Some highlights:
Sitting the banquet with Lyz, Landon, Jessica, Kate, Dennis, and Patchen was such a great time. There were two random fans who didn't know who any of us were, but it was kind of fun to see them marvel at the collective talent at the table. I also got quite a few compliments on my Millennium Falcon fascinator, but missed the chance to show Lisa Stevens (I was able to catch up to her the next day and show her pictures; not the same. I'll have to wear it again at GenCon!).
My team for trivia included Ryan and Perram from Know Direction. We didn't win, but I was amused by the number of questions I was able to answer in the following format:
Me: The answer is ______
Others: Are you sure?
Me: Yes. I wrote it.
John Compton was seemingly not as amused when I told him this story, and I believe has vowed to avoid questions from any product I had a hand in next year. That leaves me the challenge of writing so much as to make that goal unattainable.
I got to play a preview game of SFS 2-01 with John Compton (GM), Ryan Costello, Perram, Amanda Hamon, and the irrepressible Thurston Hillman the next evening. We had a marvelous time with our all vesk party after my Keskodai got traded to an opposing team. Thursty was very pleased with the scenario as he kept shouting "I developed this!" and "Nickelodeon Kids Show!" several times. It all fell apart somewhere in part 2 when the table was too drunk and rowdy to continue. Nevertheless, still one of the best games I've played.
Another highlight was playing Grimmerspace with the Roll for Combat crew; it was a perk of winning their Go To PaizoCon contest. My drone died twice, including being spaced in a "blood and gore slushy." If you're interested in the Abattoir 8 adventure, be warned that it contains "fluids of various pedigree;" it's a very wet adventure.
Monday morning before hitting the airport I had a fantastic breakfast with the Know Direction crew, then we got to play one of Ryan's run-on-the-fly style adventures. He's a FANTASTIC GM! We recorded it and I believe we're going to be releasing that audio to Know Direction patrons.
So many more amazing things happened, some of which I cannot talk about. I'm very excited for the coming year!

Painlord, I can tell you that I look forward to this thread every year, especially since I haven't been able to make it back to PaizoCon since the weekend changed in 2015. (Someday I will return — still have a whale watching tour to make, hopefully without the boat breaking down this time!)

Does anyone know if the “hero point” coins that were issued to attendees of the banquet will be available for retail and if so where?
I believe for both the pint glasses and the Fumbus hero point coins: we do not plan to offer them for retail, but we do intend to release them at various points as charity auction items or similar.

Sorry for the delay but here is the breakdown of my week in Seattle.
PreCon activities:
I arrived the Monday before the Con and was met by Steven Coling and Shelly Hudson at the airport. Steven was the spearhead of the Aussie Invasion and later that morning I joined their invasion force for a tour of the Paizo offices led by Tonya.
After eating lunch in Redmond at the Tipsy Cow(great burgers) we got down to business and started our four days of Seeker activities to get ourselves ready for Gallowspire. We had two tables running consistently and completed Tomb of the Iron Medusa, Unleashing the Untouchable, two full runs of All for Immortality, Academy of Secrets, Betrayal in the Bones, and Rasping Rebirth. My fellow players were Steven Coling, Chris Senz, Daniel Baker, Lachlan Jones, Tim Schneider, Preston Hudson, Shelly Hudson, Nate Hudson, Jared Thaler, Dustin Knight, Chris Danahy, Jonathan Choy, and Angie Powers. Alex Augunas joined in for two of the tables on Thursday.
PaizoCon activities
Friday I ran Debt to the Quah in both the morning and evening slots. I got to chat with Majuba in line for my badge when he made his way down the line handing out Goblin Brains. If you ever have the chance you have to try Goblin Brains. They are delicious and I make sure to reserve some each year. In between my GM duties I got to play Return to Sender run by the author Natalie Kertzner. It was a lot of fun and I met Amber Hipsher who simply referred to my Technomancer as "Mechanic Friend." I got to chat with Amber again while waiting in line for the banquet the next day.
Saturday started with running another group through Debt to the Quah. In the afternoon I played Data Breach. I had a great GM whose name I failed to catch but I got to meet Derek Larsen aka Tyranius and his wheelchair-bound cat lady. I would also get to chat with Derek more in line for the banquet which came directly after.
In line for the banquet, in addition to Amber and Derek, I got to chat with Hilary Moon Murphy(always a pleasure), and Dennis Muldoon(briefly as he stopped to say hi).
At the banquet, I sat with Thursty, Amanda Hamon, Chris Danahy, Will Johnson, and Nils Janson. I got to catch up with Will who is an old friend that I always enjoy chatting with. I didn't get to talk to Nils much at dinner but got the chance to game with him the next day.
Sunday morning I played on Hmm's table of Many Minds of Historia which I really enjoyed. Afterward, I spent the afternoon making sure I was prepped for Gallowspire and chatting with another old friend, Loren Schmidt, whom I hadn't even known was at the Con.
Then came the special. Siege of Gallowspire was epic! Nils Janson was the GM who tried to murder our party in the 15-16 Champion tier. He was a fantastic GM but the only player to die quickly recovered. It was cool to have the chance to game with Nils after meeting him at the banquet.
Monday morning I played on Gary Norton's 5 Nova evaluation table with Hilary, John Dehning, Kate Baker, Dennis Muldoon, and B.B. Wolfe(who I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time.) Gary did a great job guiding us through a really cool adventure. Kate and I were Team Dwarf, Dennis and Hilary were Team Skitter, and B.B. and Jon were Team Science. There was a lot of hilarious competition between the members of Team Science.
Monday afternoon I just decompressed in the hotel lobby before heading to the airport. Thanks to Adam Daigle for pointing us towards a stash of free gaming paper someone had left in one of the elevators. B.B. Wolfe claimed a clipboard from the stash and practiced looking official as she strode about confidently consulting non-existent documents on her new acquisition. I also got to meet Wei Ji the Learner for the first time! We had recently traded boons via mail and it was cool to meet him in person. I also ran into Graypark in the lobby. I played Unleashing the Untouchable with him in the pre-con games last year and it was great to see him again even if it was brief.
During the convention, I also had the pleasure of meeting Jon Dehning's wife Nicole and catching up with old friend Brian Darnell and meeting his wife Heather.
I also got to chat with Wayne Reynolds at his table in the store and he drew a really cool goblin sketch in the front of the artbook I purchased!
Now I am home and the whirlwind week of Paizo has subsided. I am grateful to be getting a bit more sleep once again but can't wait to see everyone again next year! Maybe next time I'll get to meet Painlord and buy him a drink to thank him for starting this Bloggery.

Does anyone know if the “hero point” coins that were issued to attendees of the banquet will be available for retail and if so where?I believe for both the pint glasses and the Fumbus hero point coins: we do not plan to offer them for retail, but we do intend to release them at various points as charity auction items or similar.
This saddens me... I was looking forward to a companion to my Pathfinder Society shot glass.
I notice you said "Fumbus hero point coin."Does this mean there might be other hero point coins for sale?
