Your first pair of blows missed it - but its own attacks were almost as bad (which may have had something to do with the blood covering its eyes from all of its injuries), and it crashed into the ground a moment later as a psychically-endowed fist crushed its skull.

"I'll get your horse." Vegazi said, moving her own steed around and setting off in the direction yours had darted now that you no longer seemed to be in danger. Fifteen minutes later, she returned with it, looking none the worse for wear - though she did look over to see what you'd done while she was gone.

While she was gone, Harath moved the boat bodies to the side of the road and wiped off his fists.

It's quite dark out by the time you finally arrive at your destination - the home furthest away from the city. This little house sits on a level field about a half-mile from the road. Trees surround the home and a small garden is planted in front; these splashes of green provide contrast to the otherwise rocky, dusty terrain. The house is built to weather the elements, and has a wide porch, a fresh coat of paint, and windows that can open to let in the breeze. A sun parlor on the northeast side of the house features large glass windows instead of walls.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Harath will move to the front door, careful not to give the appearance that he is sneaking about. If there is no bell, he will knock on the door.

"Hello? I have been sent by Terrin of Arwyll."

It took a few minutes for the door to open - when it did, it was by an old man in a long nightshirt and pants, and he opened his mouth to speak. Then he shut it again, his eyes growing wide as he saw Vegazi standing by you - and he darted back into the house rummaging through several piles of paper that lay scattered throughout the room before grabbing a few and bringing them over. "You!" he said. "Her!" he added a moment later, looking to you. "She rescued Captain Adil and myself many years ago from the Hell’s Fury prison camp! What are you doing here?" He didn't seem to have heard the earlier question - and given how sleepy he looked despite his excitement, it wasn't hard to figure out why.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

"Sir, are you Grev? Terrin of Aryll Estate sent me to gather the outliers, he believes a large force will attack and doesn't want you all left out here. We have been sent to notify everyone and try to convince them to come in."

"Eh? Nah, this little place isn't worth drawing their attention. I'm too old to go fight anyway." the old man said, shaking his head. "If I'm going to die soon, I'd at least like to finish my book. Knowledge is the real prize, after all!"

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

"Well, I don't think he was looking for you to fight, but was looking for you to provide some insight on Vegazi here. They don't trust her. That, and I don't think they'd hit your place as a target of value, but rather to make a statement... and they'd probably burn any books you have around here."

There was a definite flicker of alarm at your last words, but he didn't seem quite convinced that he needed to leave his house. "I don't know... I mean, it's not really much of a statement if you're burning down someplace nobody ever visits anyway." he said, scratching his beard.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

"Well, if no one visits to read your books, why not take them to town? Or did you mean no one visits you, because Terrin thought it important enough to send someone specifically for you. You were the only one he named, the rest were just dots on a map of homesteads."

"Well, I'm not done!" the man said boldly. "Who'd want to read a half-finished book? Unless it's reviewers, leastaways. Come in, come in - it's too late to go wandering around, so you might as well stay here for the night. If she trusts you, that's good enough for me." He stepped aside, holding open the door.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

"I suppose I can stay, thank you for your hospitality. I must get going at first light, however. I'd like to get all these visits done as soon as possible."

"Of course, of course!" he said, ushering both of you in before firmly locking the door behind him. Within the house, you could see even more papers scattered around, and he quickly stepped over to the side before moving into a room and rustling around. "Afraid I don't have too much space for guests on account of never really getting them, but you can sleep over here. Need a bit to eat first? Bread, cheese, bit of brandy?"

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

"I'll gladly take some bread and cheese. I'll have to turn down the brandy, though, I'd rather not be caught sluggish should this army arrive tonight."

Muttering cheerfully to himself, the old man bustled around the house, eventually pulling out a small dish with the named foods on it before pouring himself a drink. With a few cheerful words after that, he hobbled to his own bedroom, leaving you in the dark - not an unfamiliar place.

Around two in the morning - a rough estimate from what little moonlight there was - you were woken by a soft scratching sound from outside.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Harath will wake Vegazi. "What's that sound like to you?"

The half-orc was completely still for a moment. Then, "Boar." she whispered. "Bigger than the ones we saw earlier. ...How'd it get past the fence?"

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Harath manifests force screen and moves to see out a window that has a view of the other side of the door.

The window shattered a moment later - and a pitch-black boar with four tusks gave out an angry growl as it pawed at the ground and prepared to rush inside.

Init (Enemy): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Init (You): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

By the slimmest of margins, you were able to outpace the creature as it crouched down and let out a vicious snarl.

Don't forget that you don't have psionic focus right now, since you just woke up!

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

psionic focus (well, lack thereof) doesnt affect me TOO badly. just means I can't do some powers for free or use powers that reference active type (though those are usually for kineticists).

Turn 1:
Move: Activate Empowered Strikes
Move: charge Psychic Strike

Nn, just thought I'd give a reminder. XD If there's stuff like "you woke up and had breakfast", I'll generally assume you became focused at some point in time - if you're woken up in the middle of the night, though, it's just good to remember that you won't be focused.

With a loud growl - followed by a yelp from deeper in the house - the boar jabbed out at you with its tusks and sought to rip open your flesh before you could truly get your strength ready.

Gore: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

A massive porcupine - nearly as big as you were - appeared behind you a moment later, flanking you with the boar and promptly slapping out with a tail covered in nasty-looking quills.

Tail Slap: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 2 = 9

Its attack was even worse than the boar's - but magic was clearly involved here, and thus proof that whatever was happening, it wasn't just another attack by wild animals.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

"Get eyes on whatever is outside summoning this bullshit, put an arrow in their eyes." Harath says to Vegazi.

5ft step to break the enemy's flank, and possibly get cover versus the boar. Then punching the porcupine.

atk: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
dmg: 1d6 + 4 + 2d8 ⇒ (2) + 4 + (4, 6) = 16
2d8 is psychic strike. not lost if that roll misses

Your attack narrowly deflected off of the Porcupine's quills, failing to hurt it as Vegazi, from further back, darted outside. Without hesitation, the two animals pushed inwards, following you towards the corner of the room.

Tail Slap: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 2 = 14
Gore: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 2 = 23 for Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

This time, the boar - at least - had finally managed to land a decent blow on you, and it let out a loud roar of triumph as it prepared to continue the assault.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

oh, at what point in rest am i? Recovered HP/PP or no?

No. You were woken up too early and hadn't gotten enough rest.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Immediate Action on the Boar's attack, manifest Sidestep to avoid damage (-3 PP)

Standard Action this turn: Mythic Manifestation to manifest Untouchable Aura. (-1 MP, -0 PP) DC 16 will negates, non-mythic creatures must roll save twice and take lower result. They get a -4 on that save as they are in my fear aura. Lasts 7 rounds.

Will Roll 2(Porcupine): 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 2 - 4 = 1

The two animals flinched away as your aura of fear pushed against their minds - though the Boar seemed like it had done rather better than the porcupine, and wasn't the sort of creature to retreat too quickly. But then, boars were rarely so easy to dissuade... they were rather famous for that.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Harath attacks the boar, looking to tear it apart.

atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
dmg: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

psychic strike: 2d8 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11 additional damage to be applied to the first attack that hits the boar. psychic strike still charged from two turns back

The boar let out a cry of pain as your first attack struck it - the second wasn't quite accurate enough to hit, and the two animals gave out angry (but somewhat fearful) cries as they lashed out again.

Will (Boar): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Will (Porcupine): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Will Roll 2 (Boar): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Will Roll 2 (Porcupine): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Your powers were definitely interfering with things, and after a moment, both the boar and the porcupine moved five feet away from you and started maneuvering to clear some space instead of futilely continuing to attack. The reason for this became obvious a few moments later as something small shot through the air and towards you...

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

...but bounced away.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

the shot came through the window? what was it, an arrow? is there space where i can get through the window without problems?

It's very dark and the projectile was moving quite fast, so you were unable to see exactly what it was. You can get to the window, but treat it as difficult terrain - it's not the kind of thing you can easily stroll out of.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Harath moves out through the window and assesses the situation outside.

figure a move to get out, even with a square of difficult terrain. Will just use my other move to charge my phychic strike

There are two figures about thirty feet away in the darkness - Vegazi, slumped down on the ground, and a woman with green skin who was dressed in what looked like the hide of a bear. As you came out of the house, she pointed at the ground beneath you - which abruptly started to squelch and soften as it turned into sticky mud.

Reflex DC 15 Partial: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

You weren't totally caught, but it wasn't possible to entirely escape the mud - which stretched out for twenty feet ahead of you. Moments later, the boar burst out of the side door and started darting towards the woman, circling around you to avoid the mud.

You can move through the mud at half speed, but cannot run or charge through it.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Harath moved half speed through the mud, or will slide out and skirt the side if that would be faster forward, and sent a wretched mental attack at the woman.

Ego Whip DC 16 Will halves (min 1) and failure = Dazed 1 rnd
CHA Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

There was no quick way to get out of the mud, but you did see the woman stagger as your Ego Whip hit her, even as the boar moved over to Vegazi's body and bent down slightly, grabbing her and moving your companion onto its back.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Harath continued to move forward, freeing himself of the mud, then lashed out with another psionic attack.

Mind Thrust, DC 16 will negates
mental dmg: 4d10 ⇒ (6, 8, 8, 8) = 30

was 20ft in the mud, 1st round half speed would have gotten me 15ft, second round in the mud would cost me 10ft to move 5 ft, leaving me 20ft to close the distance with her.

Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Your mental assault blasted the woman's hapless body before she could manage to recover - and it had clearly done a lot of damage to her. The pain banished what remained of the daze, though, and she snapped out a command to her companion. The two of them quickly started running, intending to exit the area as quickly as possible - she was clearly the type who preferred to escape instead of stick around and fight to the death. Your rapid assault probably hadn't helped matters any... not from her point of view, anyway.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

how far away are they? it matters of my powers, as I imagine they are right outside Close range. Also, might I have gotten an AoO on her, since I think i ended my last turn adjacent to her? Also, if the boar is running, how tightly can a boar (even one that i imagine is just a wild-shaped person) affix a person to its back?

Running is x4 speed, so 120 feet - or Medium Range for most abilities. As for carrying someone, pretty well if they know what they're doing and came prepared to do exactly this...

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Running doesnt provoke an AoO from me? She was 30ft away, i slogged 15ft through mud one turn, then 5 more feet of mud the next with plenty of movement to get adjacent to her. Then she ran.

Not in this particular case. Unlike many foes, this opponent planned on making a fast getaway - and avoiding AoO's is a big part of contingency planning.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

Alright, then I will take the run action for the same distance to be adjacent once more.

Without slowing down, the woman continued running, even as the boar - already away from you - veered off to the side. Rather than heading over empty, featureless ground, though, she ran straight into a dense thicket of bushes - clearly counting on them to slow you down even as she danced straight through. With that display, it was clear that she had more affinity for the natural world than most.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

well, guess i have to assume this is one of those "gonna happen anyway" kinda things.

Clearly unable to remedy the situation, Harath returns to check on the old man.

Nope. If you do have a way of interrupting a foe, it's entirely possible to stop them from achieving their goals. Otherwise, you'll have to do something like track them down - if you want to get your companion back - and go on from there. This module makes allowances for both. ^^ I try to avoid too much railroading.

The old men let out a loud battlecry, only to stop and lower his weapon once he noticed who you actually were - in the gloom of night, it was far from easy to separate you from the darkness. "What's going on? What happened!?" he asked, clearly worried.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

ah, i figured it was one of those "this companion isn't gonna be with you forever, so might as well take em away now" kinda things.

"Some sort of nature-person showed up summoning creatures that attacked. The purpose seemed to be to capture Vegazi, which was successful. They ran off, I kept up with them until they moved through bushes with no trouble. I can't do that."

The characters in this game are gods. XD I generally dislike the idea of impossible situations unless the player does something exceptionally dumb. It's true that some situations are more likely - your enemies are often smart enough to plan ahead, and not simply mindless combatants that only fight directly and die - but it's rarely impossible to interrupt their plans somehow.

The old man glanced down at his weapon, seeming confused. "Why're they keen on kidnapping her? Can't be revenge for that prison breakout - too long ago." he said, frowning.

Active Effects: Human Dread (Fear Made Flesh) // Psychic (Dream) // Soulknife (Deadly Fist) 5 Mythic Overmind Tier 2 ||| HP: 104/104 | AC: 22, T: 14, FF: 20 | Fort: +7, Ref: +10, Will: +9* | BAB: +5, CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | Init: +3, Perception: +9

"No idea, this woman had a pet boar, that i suspect was either smart like a person or a person in an alternate form, that somehow managed to affix Vegazi to its back despite its lack of opposable thumbs. You know of anyone who can do stuff like that?"

Grev scratched his chin a bit. "Don't know anyone myself, but they say that the companions of Druids're smarter than most animals." he mused. "And the leader moved past plants with no trouble at all, you said?"
