Cost of Durable Ammo of Special Materials

Advice

So, first things first I know that durable ammo can't be made from special materials RAW.

However, I see people doing this and so I want to understand what the cost of these ammo's should be. Is it x20 the cost of the ammo normally? OR is it 1gp per piece plus the normal cost? Thanks :)

I specifically care about cold iron, mithral, alchemical silver, and adamantine arrows.

Is that a pfs thing cuz nothing in the text even hints at not being able to make out of special materials.

As for the cost we just tack on 1gp for the durable property on whatever the cost for the special material.

I believe the reason is that the book doesn't discuss at all how much it costs to do so and durable isn't listed as a property.

It seems odd that you could make a normal adamantine arrow for 60.05 or you can make a durable one for 61.05. Why would arrows of special materials ever be made without the durable property if that were the case?

Because some people don't realize durable exists also durable is on the shaft of the projectile preventing it from breaking only the tip/head of the projectile is made out of the special material.

Liberty's Edge

I am looking now and I see nothing prohibiting them from being made with special Materials.

Since they're sold in bundles of 50 for 50gp so getting Cold Iron ones would simply cost you double for 100gp for 50 Cold Iron Durable Arrows but since they're custom made I imagine you'd be getting Masterwork Ones anyhow for 400gp cost.

so if that is the case, let's break down the cost of the arrows I want to individual costs. Anyone see any discrepancies?

Adamantine: (50gp/50) + (60gp/1) = 61gp/arrow

Cold Iron Durable: (50gp/50)*2 = 2gp/arrow

Alchemical Silver: (50gp/50) + (2pg/1) = 3gp/arrow

(This one is messy)
Mithral: (50gp/50) + (3lbs*500/lb)/50 = 31gp/arrow

1 person marked this as a favorite.

HeroLab shows this:
50 [automatically] masterwork adamantine durable arrows = 3050 gp (61 gp each)
50 cold iron durable arrows = 100 gp (2 gp each)
50 alchemical silver durable arrows = 150 gp (3 gp each)
50 [automatically] masterwork mithral durable arrows = 12550 gp (251 gp each)

HL is calculating 3.75 lb per 50 mithral arrows, but I can't determine the rest of its math {making me doubt these results}.

50 masterwork cold iron durable arrows = 400 gp (8 gp each)
50 masterwork alchemical silver durable arrows = 450 gp (9 gp each)

Hmmm well arrows are 20arrows for 3lb. So 50 arrows would be 7 lbs. Half weight makes it the 3.5. Mithral is supposed to be costed at normal weight. I made a miscalculation in my breakdown.

So using the corrected numbers mithral arrows should cost 71gp each.

Mithral: (50gp/50arrows) + (500gp/lb)*(7lb/50arrows) = 71gp

Another question, blunt arrows of special materials, are these a thing?

Yes and jagged arrows too.
