summon eidolon spell + Sp summon monster ability?

can a summoner use the spell "summon eidolon" and than use their spell like ability to start summoning monsters? seeing as you didnt utalize the summon monster spell like ability.

You can, but only one summon will be active at a time with the class ability. (So your Eidolon and a summon)

Keep in mind, only the class ability shortens the time of summoning to a standard action.
