4-level Spontaneous Casting

I'm working on a homebrewed class that features spellcasting that begins at class level 4 and eventually gains 4th level spells. Useing traditional 4-level casters (paladin and ranger) and a spontaneous caster (bard) has helped trying to figure out spells per day and spells known, but each incarnation so far feels off. My Google search has yielded unsatisfactory results.

Does anyone know of a good existing 4-level spontaneous caster, or have advice on what the chart should look like?

Bloodrager is what you are looking for.

If you want full BAB and 4th level casting then yeah, Bloodrager is where you want to start.

Well, Its not as impressive as I hoped. I see the differences, bu t the progression is nearly identical to that of the paladin or ranger.

The bloodrager is pretty well balanced. Classes with a Full BAB will probably always have a progression like that.

What you may want to do with your homebrew is give your class additional abilities that compliment or enhance your spells. This is what warpriest does with fervor.

Bloodrager has a subtle benefit of having a full caster level. Ranger or Paladin 4 has caster level 1. Bloodrager 4 has caster level 4.

The numbers are so low though that can only be nearly identical. A full BAB class needs to have a very limited amount of spell casting.

Mine is a medium BAB, but i didn't want to go with 6-level casting. What I have at the moment is the paladin's spells per day, but every value is increased by 1. I did duplicate the bloodrager's spells known though.

It also might be worth looking at the Medium in the Occult Adventures playtest. It is a 4th level casting class with medium BAB.

If you feel like their spells are rather low, but are already at the level that other 4th level casters receive, perhaps you should look into giving them another expendable resource, other than spells. A ki pool, a domain-esque set of powers, etc.
