Hey everyone,
I am finally going to have everything I need to start my physical run of the game. Well, I'll still need to get some sleeves for my cards if you have an suggestions, please, feel free to share them. I am only familiar with Ultra Pro.
Anyway, I have a few questions I was hoping you'd be able to answer for me. I plan on starting out with four characters: Lini, Ezren, Merisiel, and a fighter. My question is which fighter would best compliment the three other characters? Should I pick Valeros, Seelah, Amiri, or Sajan (more on him later).
I am trying to hit that sweet spot everyone talks about being 3 to 4 characters, so I figured I would start "high" and kill one off if need be. That leads me to the next question, who would then been considered the least important? I know you can't get make a
Finally, what the hell is Sajan's role? Can someone break him down for me? I've played ever character on the mobile app, but for the life of me I can't figure out what he is all about. So, I would greatly appreciate it if someone explained Sajan to me in the most simplist of ways.
I guess that's all I have for now. I've been in the hospital for 2.5 weeks. Hopefully, I get out tomorrow and can begin set up.
Oh and don't forget card sleeve recommendations.
Thanks,
Grabnar

Regarding the sleeves, I use KMC Perfect Size, they are tight and don't fold around the card edges as larger sleeves do. So far, only 1 sleeve got destroyed by shuffling (Shackles up to the endo of AD3), so they are rather durable from my POV.
As to the characters - apart from Merisiel, none of them are exceptional fighters. You can probably play Seelah focusing on melee, but I would rather play Valeros or Amiri. Sajan is ... weird and I have no experience with him in the physical game. His ability to recharge blessings is fine if you stack him with items, allies and whatever that can be recharged. That way, you can get to the blessings fast. Otherwise, he seems even worse combat-wise than Lini at the start of the Adventure path. If you prune his deck down only to blessings (and some Amulet of fists, maybe) by discarding, you can fight rather nicely with N×1d10 dies (Dex-based combat, Erastil likes!), but any before-or-after-you-act damage is terrible.
(Disclaimer: I finished physical RotR using Lini - my character, Harsk, Seoni; in the start, we had Valeros as well)

Some would say that Sajan is the Best Character Ever!
That blog post highlights some of the amazingness that is Sajan.
For your particular party however, you don't have anybody who will make use of picking up any Melee weapons, and one of the things I like to consider when choosing a party is having all the boon categories covered by at least one party member, so that said, I think Valeros, Amiri, or Seelah would be more useful.
Of those three, I'd pick Seelah, as she doubles as a secondary Divine caster, and she and Lini will do well to keep your party supported and healed up, but really, you can't go wrong with any of the three.

In short; Sajan fills his deck with what is (in RotR) effectively the single best card type - blessings. He can always provide support, always explore more, and has an incredibly high-end of potential combat.
If the combat matters - for example, it's against a villain or henchman - he can usually recharge 2-4 blessings and end up rolling an average result of around 20 even before getting a Role card half-way into the adventure. Don't forget that there are a small number of cards basically custom-made for him, like the Amulet of Mighty Fists, that allows him to bolster his combat checks whilst remaining weaponless.
However, he's... clunky to use. He can't fight through multiple monsters in the same turn easily (since he almost always needs to recharge at least 1 blessing to have decent combat stats), and lacking magic he's unable to heal himself - which is a bit of a problem when he almost exclusively plays cards that tend to discard themselves for explorations (allies and blessings).
One of his role cards gives him a uniquely powerful interaction with the Liquids in the set, allowing him to throw multiple Potions of Healing in to cover his card expenditure, whilst his other role card allows him to make use of bows effectively; leveraging his high Dexterity skill and blessing-recharging along with a more 'standard' method of combat.
As for what role he fills in the party... well, he's a high-Dexterity combatant, capable of finding and defeating henchmen and villains, but Dexterity also is a very common skill used against barriers (unlike Strength). He also has okay Wisdom, another commonly-used stat. He's also uniquely well suited against the monsters that try to prevent you from casting attack spells or using weapons - since he needs neither to excel.
Meanwhile, unlike a Ranger or Rogue (other dexterity-oriented characters), his emphasis on Blessings gives a party - particularly a large, 5-6 man party - far more resources to use against checks, as well as a much more exploration-driven character. His issue is running out of cards, and being unable to sustain multiple combat checks, and being unable to use boons as effectively as many other characters. He's a tricky character to play, but not underpowered.
