Trying to Revive the Survivor PrC

Advice

Since a couple people have asked about it I'm giving this a stab. They liked the 3.5Ed concept of a PrC that just helped you stay alive. So this is what I came up with so far.

Survivior PrC
Pre-requisites: Must have come extremely close to death (unconscious, captured, shipwrecked, etc…) at least 3 times yet survived and character level 3 or higher.
Hit Dice: d12+ constitution modifier each level.
Skill points is 2+ intelligence modifier each level.
Class skills: Acrobatics, Climb, Escape Artist, Heal, Perception, Stealth, Survival, Swim
Weapon and armor proficiency: None gained. (though maybe it should gain the armor and shield prof?)

1 Feat: Great Fortitude. If already have this feat or later gain it normally, then this becomes Improved Great Fortitude. Bonus to Natural Armor equal to ½ Survivor class levels (round up).
2 Feat: Lightning Reflexes. If already have this feat or later gain it normally, then this becomes Improved Lightning Reflexes. Spell Resistance equal to 10 plus Survivor class levels.
3 Feat: Iron Will. If already have this feat or later gain it normally, then this becomes Improved Iron Will. Feat Alertness. If already have this feat, the bonuses are improved by +1.
4 Evasion as a rogue. If already have this power or later gain it some other way, then this becomes Improved Evasion.
5 Energy resistance +3 vs cold, fire, acid, and electricity. This stacks with any resistance the character already has.

BaB is zero and never progresses.
All 3 saves start at +1 and go up by 1 at each level.

Thoughts?

Prestige Classes suck, so make it at least halfway decent.

D10 hit dice. And 3/4 BAB.

Bonus feats at even levels, but they must come from:
Die Hard, Toughness, Iron Will, Lightning Reflexes, or Great Fortitude.

Make the Endurance feat a prerequisite. As well as BAB +5.

1. Uncanny Dodge
2. Bonus Feat
3. Evasion
4. Bonus Feat
5. Improved Uncanny Dodge
6. Bonus Feat
7. Improved Evasion
8. Bonus Feat
9. Damage Reduction 5/-
10. Bonus Feat

Saves all go up by +1 at every level, for a total of +10 to every save.

Disagree. Some are quite decent and fun to play. Shadow Dancer, Winter Witch, and Dragon Disciple immediately spring to mind.

I have had 2 players ask about this one specifically. That is why I am making the effort. (I'm actually not the GM or even a player in their campaign, but he doesn't have the time to mess with it. So he asked me to see what i could come up with.)

However, I think your version is too powerful and doesn't quite match the flavor.

The old Survivor was not supposed to enhance combat capability at all. It gave no HD at all, but I remember reading somewhere that was an unnoticed production error. It had been intended to have d12. The zero BaB progression was very much intended. The PrC was only to help you stay alive through whatever came at you. It was not intended to make you a better martial combatant. If I gave it any BaB progression at all it would only be poor. (I can see the point that it shouldn't make you worse than a commoner that advanced in levels.)

I do like, but didn't immediately think of Diehard, Toughness, Endurance, or Uncanny Dodge (though they are obvious in retrospect). Those are also good options. I do like the DR, but wasn't sure how to fit it into 5 levels. The GM said try to make it a 5 level PrC. He felt the original 3 level was too little, but didn't want it to be a full 10. I'm not sure how sent in stone that was, so he might be ok with expanding it.

Maybe I give it poor BaB progression. Each class level gain one of the things that isn't a feat and a bonus feet from that expanding list. Hmm... Food for thought.

I had never heard of it before reading this post, and when I looked it up it was a 5 level Prestige Class that included Uncanny Dodge, Evasion, Imp. Uncanny Dodge, Imp. Evasion, and DR 5/-... I just added the bonus feats because I am used to Pathfinder having 10 level Prestige Classes. The BAB progression is necessary in my opinion, otherwise you will be incredibly worse off than before you entered this Prestige Class. It doesn't offer spellcasting progress, so it's obviously not to make wizards less squishy. The only people concerned with surviving are ones that face danger. In this game you face danger with armor and sword. Why would you ever give up your ability to defend yourself?
