does the detect evil/good ability act as a permanent sense, or do you have to take actions and concentrate on it?
Odds are they wouldn't even know each other for what they are, unless other factors come into play.
If they know each other, and it's in the streets, glares are the most likely option, violence on the street is NOT something that is desirable, even if the antipaladin refrains from it only to avoid getting the authorities on his back.
Socialisation seems unlikely, unless it's required for political reasons.

Detect Evil/Good requires actions, so no auto-battle.
Having said that, the Antipaladin's aura of cowardice would cancel the Paladin's aura of courage, so if they pass within 10 feet of each other they'd sense something* (assuming they're both 3rd level or higher).
Also i assume most paladins display their heraldry fairly well, so the Antipaladin probably has a good idea of who the Paladin is. The Antipaladin probably knows when to put away the bleeding skull, so may not display as obviously.
Short answer - probably nothing happens.
*assuming you'd sense something. I don't actually know if you'd sense something unless you're required to roll a will save vs fear ...?

Anti-paladins don't have to reveal that they are anti-paladins (unless they're detected, and that takes about 18 seconds, which means even a paladin can't have a plan to scan everyone they meet).
Obviously there's a matter/antimatter reaction. All of their mass is explosively converted into energy.
Nodwick did that joke :)

If there was a fight a paladin would never throw down at the drop of a hat. Hes there to promote order and good, so would likely wait until theres some distance from the nearby citizens before even attempting to confront the anti paladin. Also, he would likely try to find evidence to prove such a person OS an anti paladin, so that he could be locked away or hanged.
You know... promoting the laws of the land for the good of the people.

What I want to know is what happens if a Dragon eats both a Paladin and an Antipaladin at the same time. Will this result in a massive explosion, or will the Paladin's Positive Energy and the Antipaladin's Negative Energy simply cancel out, leaving the Dragon still hungry?
Matter and anti-matter don't just cancel each other out, you get gamma ray particles, so at the very least there will be radiation damage, if not a dramatic explosion :)

What kind of self-respecting dragon eats paladins? They taste Lawful.

At random intervals, the overall mass of divinity spawns a paladin and an anti-paladin simultaneously. This reduces the overall mass of divinity by an infinitesimal amount. Given enough time, this will cause all divinity to evaporate from a setting.
This is called "Greyhawking Radiation"
Note: This only occurs if the paladin/antipaladin spawn occurs at the divinity's moral event horizon.

Archmic |

Depends on archetype.
Anti-paladin tyrant might actually be friend to a paladin; better to manipulate him to his ends.
A paladin probably would never know if an anti-paladin was near because what anti-paladin travels through any city that they or their master doesn't control without taking steps to hide their alignment?

Ones that go places were being evil isn't illegal?

AntiPal: "I don't want to bother, and you don't want the needless collateral damage. Im hear to do something that doesn't involve laying waste to this entire town, so keep it in its sheath and back off, Holy-two-shoes."
Pal: "Given who/what you are... How can I know that for sure?"
AntiPal: "Look at it this way. If it did, you'd already be walking through blood-soaked rubble."
Pal: "Fair enough, but just know this.. Me and mine are here, *don't* let me catch you changing your mind about your intentions."
AntiPal: "Mmm.. Either go polish your platemail, pretty boy, or join me for a drink. Just... stop talking."
