Combining Class Decks

Hello, I've searched around for an answer to this but found nothing, so I apologize if it's already been asked.
I'm curious if playing with a character from a class deck, such as Rivani from Occult Adventures 1 or Nyctessa from Hell's Vengeance 2, are you restricted to the cards in that particular box set? Is it possible to combine decks, such as HV 1 and 2 and/or OA 1 and 2, or even completely unrelated decks like monk and rogue to build your deck, or are you restricted to purely the box set your character came from?

Thanks

In general, no.

However! The recent Ultimate decks are made to be combined! In OP, you can add the cards from any one Ultimate deck into your class deck (or vice-versa if playing one of the ult. deck characters).

For Organized Play, you are restricted to a deck corresponding to your character's class, as well as one ultimate deck. There are some upgrades that let you play a certain deck with a certain character, but this rule still generally applies.

For non-Organized Play, sure! Do what you want! Add a character deck into the base set. Go crazy!

We aren't playing organized play, but we're kinda experimenting with those rules to get a feel for them, since we all have class decks we're using.

So to clarify, say I am using Rivani from Occult Adventures 1, would OA 2 count as corresponding to my character's class, or are they technically separate?

Those are separate decks. Official rule is you can use any Ultimate deck with any non-Ultimate deck, and your character has to share a class with one of the characters from one of the two decks you are using (modulo having unlocked a reward to play a particular character with a particular other class deck).

Cool, that answers my question then. Thanks for the quick response!

To clarify, that is the rule for organized play.

The official rule for home play is that you mix the cards from the class deck in with the cards from the box, and you use the now-expanded pool of cards to build your deck, build locations, etc and then play as normal. You don’t have to play a character from a deck to mix it in, but I recommend mixing in no more than 2-3 decks to avoid diluting the boon pool too much.
