If you run Iron Gods over Roll20 or something, you can use a voice modulator and add a bunch of static or reverb!
As for how I'd characterize Unity, probably as well-meaning yet condescending - everything's too disorganized, it finally got an idea of what to do about it and the means to do it, but apparently recent setbacks were due to a vocal minority hacking into its agents' chassises. It can set aside some processes to explain what it will do and why, while simultaneously organizing defenses against their predicted methods of attack. All it really needs to do is cause enough delay until its plan can finish, and then the misguided intruders into its very body can be reprogrammed first.
In summary, sort of like The Computer from Paranoia, only actively working against the PCs.

the static / reverb would be really effective with Divinity's little cousin earlier on, or any of the other robot / computer enemies.
For Divinity, and this is just a thought, because I really like your idea, say you had all these staticy, bleep bloop robot enemies before... and when you get to the BBEG... he's HAL.
cool. calm. confident.
i suppose there's a tool out there which could help you sound like that, or you could just watch 2001 and do your own impersonation of HAL.

Okay, Yakman, that is a much better idea. Please do that.
Or have Hellion sound extra-staticy, like it's trying its hardest to be menacing, and then Unity ends up like Harbinger, utterly confident in its ultimate triumph and disgusted at this presumption.
well... that makes more sense than HAL.
HAL was just following its programming. Harbinger was essentially a god, like UNITY. Heck, he kinda does some of the same stuff.
i like it.
