Are certain adventures restricted by faction?

I am a bit confused about adventures that follow a certain factions storyline. Does that mean my character has to be of that specific faction to contribute to play the adventure? A direct quote from 6-15: The Overflow Archives "Content in “The Overflow Archives” also contributes directly to the ongoing storyline of the Dark Archive faction." I may be missing something but to me this is unclear.

I don't know of any that are restricted by faction.

If your character is of the stated faction, they may get a minor special boon at the end. Sometimes this is not a good thing if they do badly.

They can expect the events to focus on their faction's interests and lead to visible changes in the future.

Other characters can participate for standard rewards and may well enjoy the adventure for their own reasons.

Certain adventures go in different directions based on the factions represented, so it can simplify the GM's task if players arrange beforehand which factions to play.

Grand Lodge

Anyone can play scenarios with the "also contributes directly to the ongoing storyline" stuff, those just contain content that is pertinent to members of those factions, usually some secondary objective that gives them something extra on the chronicle sheet.

As others have said, there is usually a nifty boon on the chronicle just for members of the faction. Certain really cool ones unlock an otherwise restricted archetype or item, while others give skill bonuses, spell access, or something else interesting.

Also it is likely to qualify for checking off a rarer box on the faction journal card for that season.
