Eldritch Scion and Card Caster Magus. Does Eldritch Pool make them compatible?

Rules Questions

So was looking at a way to make a spontaneous card caster and just kept coming back to magus as the only viable card caster. But then I noticed this in Eldritch Scion

"This ability replaces arcane pool, and abilities that modify arcane pool also modify eldritch pool."

Now Card Caster and Eldritch Scion have one conflict and that is that they both modify arcane pool. Does this wording at the end of eldritch pool mean that this is a null issue? Mechanically it really works just the same.

Does this work?
I think it does but RAW and RAI...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I would assume that by the rules of Archetypes, it does not work as they both modify/replace/reference Arcane Pool. What it means is that any abilities you take later that may grant you more Arcane Pool points etc, will do the same for Eldritch Pool instead.

Technically the Archetypes don't stack. In a home game, I imagine many GMs would be ok with it though.

Personally I think Eldritch Scion is a horrible archetype, but your mileage may vary.
