Our PF2 'Abomination Vaults' campaign continues on Sunday. Last session (3 1/2 hours) was entirely spent in combat with a lich, and we're still nowhere near finished.
Lich? What lich?

It's the last weekend of 2024, folks! What's going on with everyone?
I'm driving a couple of hours tomorrow (well, riding. I can't drive much now) to hang out with a dear friend I've not seen in several years. Going back to my hometown to the new microbrewery, which is also part of the college there as part of their Fermentation Arts program. I find this to be deliciously wonderful because my former best friend is almost militarily opposed to alcohol in any form and I just know he's railed about this for months. I love it.
I'm also caring for a cat someone brought me last night. She's pretty sick and I sweater gawd if my cats get something from her I'll lose my ever lovin' blue eyed mind. I'm taking her to the vet today. Stay tuned.
So, all of youse, what's going on?

Five days of hanging out with my niece and nephew from across the country over, for better and worse. The eldest at 5 is the sweetest, most agreeable kid you could hope to meet. The younger at three is a bit of a handful. Kind of Jeckyll and Hyde kid. Very sweet and pleasant, then, um, a bit of a handful. His parents have slept through the night maybe a dozen times since he came along.
Now chilling until my GF's birthday on Monday. Much plastic was gifted over Christmas so I'll try to find something a bit different for that.

We're in the second leg of our holiday trip. NYC was fun, but trying to cram in every site we can see was kind of exhausting. Vacationing at a slower pace so that each site we see is more pleasant is not an argument I'm ever going to win.
Now we're in Rhode Island visiting my in-laws. We normally come in the summer, so it's neat seeing the familiar sites in the winter and without all of the summer tourists around. Coming home on Friday.

I've honestly never had a vacation where I got to travel and see things (none of the jobs I've ever had paid enough to make taking a vacation possible). But I'm with you on the speed vs leisure style of vacationing. I want to be able to spend some time in a cool place, taking in the sights, sounds, and scents around me. Safe travels for your journey home!

I'm a couple of hours early (based on my time zone, which is, of course, the only one that ever matters because MUR'CA! Ahem. Anyway, what's going on, folks? Is everyone winding down from holiday madness? I had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, ended up with groovy loot and a new cat foist upon me because people know I'm a complete sap.
I continue to scribble notes here and there about the campaign setting I'm tinkering with. Whether I run a campaign again or not, it feels nice getting the creative parts working again.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

They're watching the Star Wars Christmas Special for the new years party. I'm so glad I'm still working.
That's fun to watch once every eight years or so LOL. We didn't have cable where I grew up and the channel it aired on was one that we could barely get if the weather was good. I watched it, static and all, and felt somehow emotionally wronged by it LOL. But fourteen year old nerd me didn't care...LOL

It's Friday here at Sweet Home Calabama and it's also snowing! It began snowing here yesterday and we have about a foot of accumulation. It's still coming down but should end soon. I love snow. I know here in the south that's not a popular opinion but I don't care. I've loved snow and winter all of my life and I'm going to enjoy this!
What's everyone else doing this weekend?

Work tomorrow, then the first gaming night of the year on Sunday. Last week was canceled because two of us got the flu.
Regarding snow, incoming rant:
How is it that every bloody year the Oslo area forgets we live in Norway and snow is fairly common (even taking global warming into consideration)? Every year they wake up and go all shocked Pikachu at the first snowfall and people who haven't put on their winter tires go off the road or get stuck. Then the new electric buses they bought a couple years back aren't rated for cold and they don't work half the time during winter, yet they haven't managed to fix that over two years. How they didn't think to get good enough machines the first time around is beyond my understanding.
Even better, this year plowing was worse than normal and all the snow on the roads and sidewalks has gotten compacted to ice. Everything has been covered in ice for a week, yet they can't seem to scrape it off or gravel it. Delays are constant and extremely annoying. I head out the door an hour early just to make sure I get to work on time, and even then it's a near thing.
How can they have forgotten how to handle winter?

I turn 49 on Sunday, so we're getting together for that, and any presents leftover from Christmas and my son's birthday (Dec 28) that didn't get given out because we were travelling.
THAT'S why we haven't taken our Christmas tree down; because we were waiting for this weekend. Promise! It's not because we've been procrastinating.
But since it's my birthday, I get to choose the dinner. I'm thinking fajitas.

It's Friday!! What's going on?
I adopted a new dog this week, a miniature golden Labradoodle. He'd been showing up at my sister's since November and this past weekend my sister said he was eating the bird seed she'd sprinkled on the snowfall that we got last Friday. I couldn't handle him being neglected anymore so I went and got him. Turns out, he's microchipped and his person said she didn't want him anymore, but seemed awfully proud to tell us she'd paid $1000 for him two years ago when he was a puppy.
He's a happy, healthy, though slightly underweight dog. He weighs about 25 pounds now but we'll fix that. He's allegedly up to date on all of his vaccinations and is neutered. She told us the name of the vet where his records are so I'll get those next week. His name is Archie, which we thought about changing but it's the one he knows so we'll just keep it. It's also my dad's first name, so I guess it was mean to be. He loves to play and wrestle, knows how to sit, shake hands, chase a ball and fetch it back, is crate trained, and wants to be the cats' new best friend. That's a work in progress.
I wish I could post photos here but those of you who are on my Facebook friends list can go look at him (and I'll accept friend requests from the rest of you motley lot if you send them to Calvin N. Roach).
As far as gaming goes, a friend of mine is close to wrapping up a high level PF1e campaign and when that's done he'll let me know and I can join his next one. The one that my group member started a year ago has been on hold for a couple of months and we might get together next Saturday, but that's up in the air at the moment.
S'anyway, it's bedtime for Archie and me! G'night!

Well, I had plans. Then I got sick. Now my plans consist mostly of sniveling and dramatically proclaiming my own impending death (I don't care what my wife says, it IS possible to die of a cold; that's how we got weird-voiced Kermit).
Zero stars, will not do again. Avenge me.
I just got over the worst cold I think I've ever had. It knocked me on my butt for two weeks. But it left me a parting gift of upper respiratory bronchitis, so now I have THAT to contend with!

Just getting ready for a good old fashioned south Texas freeze this week.

I found you and sent you a message! I didn't see an Add Friend button or anything. I don't use Facebook at all, but if that ever changes, we're Friends™ now.

Congrats on the new pooch! Pets are great to have: my two cats are still going strong.
I've been playing a TON of games with other indie RPG communities the past year. Tonight's session of Public Access cancelled, and I was thinking of my last Pathfinder campaign, so thought I'd drop by to say "Hi!"
Hope all is well with you folks! And if you're ever looking to try out some other kinds of tabletop RPGs, come on over to one (or more) of the groups that I kick with these days...

Howdy! My group, or part of it, has tried to get back together under one of the players as a GM, but our "monthly game", which began last January, has only convened four times. He is renown for starting campaigns and then abandoning them, so I think that's the case here. But getting them to try anything new is off the table as they just won't.
DungeonmasterCal |
No game this weekend, though it looked for a moment we might get together. I figure the "one game a month" plan wasn't going to work when we got together four times in twelve months. My friend is a one of my closest ones and has been in my games since 1987 but he is notorious for starting a campaign then abandoning it. Ah, well. Maybe I'll muster up the mustard to run something soon.
How about the rest of you lot? What's going on?

It's warming up some here and the ice is disappearing, so I've got a long dog walk planned for tomorrow. They need it. They keep reproachfully glaring at me, like it's my fault it's been in the teens and icy. Maybe they're right. I suppose I *could* have burned more fossil fuels.
Sunday's got some more football which should take care of the afternoon. Not sure about the rest of the weekend though. I suspect some fairly boring chores. Wooooo. *throws hands in air like he just don't care*
