They are pretty good. The most important thing to note about pepperkaker is that while most modern recipes (especially commercial cookies) do not have any pepper in them, proper ones do have it as the primary or only spice.

I love trying new types of food, especially the dessert types LOL

Happy Friday! The big holiday weekend has descended. I hope that everyone has a terrific holiday; Christmas, Kwanzaa, Yule, or even Zarathosht Diso! Whichever you celebrate. If you don't do any of 'em, then just have a helluva good weekend! You've earned it!

You too, Cal!

Yay wrapping presents and cleaning before company comes and fixing broken christmas lights and shopping for groceries and going to the grocery store again because I forgot something and staying up late wrapping presents and finding where I hid all the kids' presents and cooking half the day because company is coming and I need a nap.

Happy holidays, everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! And now we're barreling headlong into 2024. Any plans?

Hosting a friends New Years party, gotta get the living and dining room straightened up for games. I might even be able to partake thanks to it falling on my weekend.

Travelling back home from seeing family tomorrow. The kids are with their dad/grandparents from the 31st, so we have the house to ourselves on NYE.

I will be going to a Rock show on New Year's Eve.

Good on ya for supporting local music!

Today was supposed to be Pathfinder, but half the group bailed, and I'm not a fan of the newest player, so I ended up going over to Woodraven's place instead. We bottled up most of the mead he's had brewing for the last couple years, watched Jaws, and then I took home the last of this year's vegetables from the garden.

The common room is the cleanest it has been since last year.

Hope we can keep it that way.

I'm not one for making New Year's resolutions, but if I had to make one it would be less cluttery. I've always been a clutter type person, but it's gotten worse. I gotta stop that.

It's Friday, babies. Put on your boogie shoes and get down!

Why, yes. I AM delirious from insomnia. Thanks for asking! What about the rest of you? Sleeping ok? Getting plenty of rest? Gonna have a kick ass weekend?

GM is back from holiday, so Strange Aeons continues as we head up river! Might be some board gaming before and after as well, gotta maximize that time off.

The in jokes that arise from the Discord chat though.

My in-laws have finally left town! I'm free! FREE!

There's noting planned, but I suspect that most of the Christmas decorations take-down will happen this weekend.

And... if there's time leftover, I might just make the journey to Liberty City. City of Heroes, the best ever superhero MMO is in the news again because the IP's owner has finally licensed a fan-run server that hosts the game to now do so legitimately. Reading an article about this kicked me right in the nostalgia, and I might see about figuring out how to install it.

I loved that game so much, but a huge part of that was the friends I played it with. We're mostly all still in touch, so if I can successfully get it installed, running, and have a decent time with it, I imagine the rest of that group could too, if they're interested. If not, well, the character creator alone might be worth it.

I'll spend time trying to keep the place warm. Heading down to nearly -30 C tomorrow (-22 weirdo units) so we'll be keeping the home fires burning. Right now I'm missing being able to use kerosene instead of mere wood.

Still it's been a while since we had a decent winter around these parts with plenty of snow and cold, so I'm not complaining too much, at least until I see my electricity bill.

Of course this means the entire weekend will be spent trying to entertain the cat now that she refuses to go outside and refuses to be entertained by us in any way inside.

I spent last winter working for a demolition company, but at the end of this year's landscaping season, I was told that they didn't need us this winter, so I got a part-time job (25-ish hours per week) at a glove factory. This week, my crew got the call that they need us at the demolition company after all, at least for a little while. Here's to 50 hours of straight time per week...

I never played CoH, but some friends of mine were pretty rabid about it. I'll pass along this news to them.

I'll be shoveling snow for the foreseeable future.

It snowed overnight one day last weekend. When I got up the next morning, my driveway was clear. Magic!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I ended up working 27.5 hours. More snow tonight and Friday!

We have no snow, but just so not to be left out, I am busily shovelling rain at the moment. People are looking at me with strange expressions and pointing, but they're just jealous at the amount of fun I'm having (I assume)

The weekend has come in roaring like a...roaring thing and was heralded by severe thunder storms and tornado warnings across my little state. Tomorrow the rain will stop, the temperatures begin to fall all day Saturday, and by Sunday night the following two nights the lows will be in the single digits with chances of snow.

Gaming wise I'll probably help my ex work on her character for my friend's upcoming campaign. And my son, whom I tried for years to get him interested in playing Mutants and Masterminds to no avail, has suddenly decided he wants to look over the rules and wouldn't you know it, the core rulebook is missing. *shakes fist at cruel fate*

So how about the rest of you lot? What's going on?

I have a driving lesson, will visit the library, and need a haircut. THRILLS+THRILLS+THRILLS.

The same thing I've been doing for 12 of the last 13 days. Shoveling snow.

Just don't do like a friend of mine a few years ago. He worked 14-16 hour shifts shoveling for more than a week, got pneumonia and had to be hospitalized for exhaustion

I have never shoveled snow in my life. I have chopped holes in nearly 6 inches of ice on ponds so the cattle could drink, though.

No worries I know what I'm doing, I have multiple sets of winter gear so I'm always in something dry and toasty when I leave with multiple sets of gloves and such that I can switch out and I eat well and bring a couple of gallons of water so I'm extremely well equipped for it.

I should have said my friend was plowing, not shoveling. Brain fart.

It's my birthday! I'm 48 time-units today!

So, it's a chore-light weekend for me. Going out to a fancy-ish pizza place tonight for my birthday dinner. I'm going to laze around until I screw that up and do something productive. Rinse and repeat all weekend.

Huzzah!

Light weekend, got board games and anime on Monday night but nothing much else. Might play some on Sunday night as well, depending on how the house feels.

Oh wow! Happy birthday! Enjoy dinner and avoid productivity!

The plan today was to have gaming night but the new plan is to sit at work and hope that the buses and/or trains start running again.

Still at work?

Taking tomorrow off to have dinner with Cyz's best friend, while she's in town. And good thing too, since I have a toothache that just isn't going away. Tylenol is making it bearable, but I'm not 100% on the job thanks to it.

Tooth pain, even when it's only moderately bad, can spoil pretty much anything I try to do. I hope yours stops!!

As someone who had root/jaw infections so bad it required double root canal, then pulling one tooth, I sympathize so hard, TOZ.

Miracle of miracles, I got home on time yesterday. I forgot that the boss lives not far from me, so while nearly public transportation was canceled in most of this part of the country because of lots of snow and cold, I hitched a ride. Game night went ahead as planned.

Another Friday is upon us! What's everyone doing?

I think we're shoving off in Strange Aeons this Sunday. Should be exciting. And terrible. We've heard from the crew about...dreams...

Will the yodelling killer stork we're fighting in our PF2 game finish us off, after the psychic mole rat with adamantine teeth failed to do so?

Magic Eight-Ball says try again later.

I'm going to say yes, it sounds like the mole rat softened you up so fighting a yodeling stork will only lead to doom.
