The last few weeks have been packed, I don't plan on doing s&!!.

Might clean up all the debris in the yard that's sure to collect due to the 35 mph winds, but at least it won't be 89 f*$*ing degrees when I do it.

It's the weekend! What are you all up to? We're gathering for an overdue session after 3 weeks off. The party returns to their home city to try and form an underground resistance to overthrow the oppressive ruling class that has held them under their heel for a millennium. A former party member, who screwed them over in the past, will reappear and the reaction from the PCs will probably be tense.

Let's share our plans for the weekend, no matter how magical or mundane they might be!

I'm going to try to make the weekend last as long as it possibly can.

Working the night shift tonight and tomorrow night but at least I have Sunday off...before going back to work at 8am Monday morning -_-

Maybe I'll at least be able to get some scenario prep done here and there?

Oh...let's see...Zelda's festival event was Saturday, so I helped her pack, unpack, setup, assist with whatever she needed, tear down, pack, unpack, and collapse. And Aiymi was sick and unavailable to help with any of that stuff.

Yesterday I simply hurt from the bottoms of my feet to my hair. Everything. Everything hurt. Today is just residual pain from that and all the new pain of my regular job, but that's generally just mental anguish.

Geez, that's bad juju.

So... What are you all planning for the weekend?

Last night, I played in our Doomday Dawn PF2e playtest group.

What happened:
* * * *
We are going WAY slower than the official playtest seems to expect: It was our third session for Part 2... and consisted pretty much entirely of a single combat that lasted 16(!) rounds.

In this combat, our spellcaster blew through nearly all of his spell slots (almost all of which were completely ineffective), and the healer channeled all of her healing, and the paladin's magic shield got destroyed. The monk got knocked down to Dying twice; the second time, she had to spend a Hero Point to survive, due to being at Wounded 1 earlier in the round. The paladin needed to roll a 14 on the die to hit the monster, and only suucceeded like three times over the entire combat.

(This wasn't the first time we observerd that combats seem to take FOREVER in this game... mainly becasuse most PC attacks miss.)

So, at the end of the only encouner of the day, we're at roughly 30% of max hp, have nearly no magical resources, and the main fighter is now missing a major part of her build (i.e. the shield with which she has "Shield Ally".) And we're in the middle of nowhere, so there's nowhere to resupply. And we're on a tight timeline, so we have to press on.

I absolutely hate the "15-minute adventuring day" thing, but we seem to blow nearly all of our resources on each fight and then barely survivie, and then have to rest for a day to continue.

To be honest, we're not really liking the playtest so far. I am finding the rules to be more frustrating than fun.
* * * *

My Thursday night Fate game was canceled because our GM got badly injured playing tennis last weekend, and is on doctor-ordered bedrest. Instead, I think I'll be working on a couple of my online games tonight.

My wife and I are going to a football tailgate on Saturday. The organizer likes to put together themes, and this week is "Canadian Thanksgiving." I'm going to make a batch of butter tarts, my wife is going to make poutine, and we're also bringing a 12-pack of LaBatt's.

Tomorrow night, we have theater tickets to see a local production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.

On Sunday, we're thinking of going apple-picking at a local orchard, weather permitting.

This is our non gaming weekend (every other week) so I don't have anything planned except maybe some housework and my weekly lunch with my friend Amy. I've really not been feeling well since I started on this new pain medicine, which ironically causes severe lower back pain as a side effect among several others. So my weekend just really doesn't have a lot of fun planned. I'll also probably work on next weekend's game, mental side effects allowing.

Tonight: Zelda is hanging out with a friend of hers. Aiymi is working late into the evening.

Saturday: I have to work at 2am for a network change. Might be done by 4am. Back to bed. Zelda is working a full day. Aiymi may or may not be working. If she's not, then whenever I wake up again we'll play her Rise of the Runelords Hardmode campaign (I'm doubling the mooks wherever I can, adding levels/changing classes on bigger opponents and potentially important NPCs (ex Tsuto - instead of a 2/2 monk/rogue I've made him a 1/4 monk/ninja and I reworked Shalelu as a 5 Slayer instead of a 2/3 Fighter/Ranger).

Sunday: ??? Go to Zelda's and watch a Doctor Who marathon ??? Aiymi will likely be working, even if she doesn't on Saturday.

Yesterday's football game for The Boy started at 4pm. I'm so glad they understand that no parents work past 3:30 so they can make these games. Zelda and I got there at halftime and our boys were already up 30-0.

No RotRL for Aiymi. She's working.

Boo. Working on the weekends stinks.

Today is the day my ex and I got married 28 years ago. We're still best friends to this day, just didn't work out as old married folks. We're going out tonight and I'm hoping to try the new Nepalese place in town.

We drank a little too much at the tailgate, such that when we got home, we both took a much longer nap than intended... causing us to miss the play we had been planning to see. Oh, well.

We deposited the kids at friends houses and then returned home and promptly napped the afternoon away ourselves.

Local (non-Society) game today. Killing time at a local Barnes and Noble. Leaving in about an hour, more or less.

Have fun!

For today, a headache and housework.

Oh fun.

Will do. :)

Tonight's Doomsday Dawn game is canceled due to two players being sick: We don't have a quorum.

Planning to play in our Fate: Sixguns & Sorcery game tomorrow night, assuming that our GM is healthy enough to run it.

And on Friday, I'm ducking out of work at 3:00, and will be driving down to New York City for the weekend. It's Parents' Weekend at my daughter's college. I haven't seen her (outside of Skype) since we dropped her off over Labor Day Weekend. (I'm driving solo: My wife has been working in California this week, and will be flying in directly to JFK.)

So what's going on? I have a game that I am NOT prepped for. However, my Halloween game is totally ready. I was much more inspired to write it out than this weekend's. Guess it'll be seat of the pants GMing. Again.

No concrete plans for this weekend.

Oh man, it's perfect concrete pouring weather!

Well then get down here and build me some replacement walls. I'll provide sustenance. I even have a bed you can stay in.

Buy the blocks I will arrive (pending weather).

Walls are easy, I can build a wall in a morning.

Edit: The hard part of walls is setting base block, but since I have a great eye for grade I average 4 minutes to set each block.

Howdy, Fortsters! What's the plan this weekend? This is my group's weekend off, so no dice rolling mayhem from the Traveling Inferno (that's the group's name since 3 of the casters are fire-based). I'll probably be adding a few tweaks to my Halloween adventure, which will involve werewolves in the poorest quarters of the ancient and huge city the players call home.

So what about you guys?

Zelda is getting prepared for a group camping event for Samhain for the last weekend of October, so we probably won't be seeing her this weekend. Aiymi and I have some work to do on the house, and when we're not doing that we're going to try to get some time with her solo RotRL campaign (5 character party, but she's the only player, and I'm GMPCing 2 of the characters at her request).

When I was a kid I loved to go camping. We'd hike for hours through woods to these old government-owned and no longer productive mining lands and camp alongside the streams and creeks there. Now camping for me is a bad motel room. I hope she has fun!

Oh, we're going camping with her, but that's not until next weekend. She's the local coordinator for a couple of pagan groups, so she's spending this weekend finishing the final details she needs to prepare for the camping trip for the entire group. Aiymi and I are not pagan, but we go along and participate as both a way to further bond with Zelda and just to show her our support and help with whatever she needs.

This camping trip is at a state park near a small lake. Forecast right now says maybe a 25% chance of rain, temps in the upper 50's, lows in the upper 30's. Last year it was well below freezing at night, snowed on us, and the highs were maybe 40.

Why the f##+ would you go camping this time of year.

It's cold out there!

The same thing I do every weekend Pinky Cal...try to survive work! Though I do have Sunday off and will be going with my brother and some other friends to see the new Halloween film. I've always been a big fan of the original so I'm curious to see what they do with this one!

I was working as a projectionist in a theater when the original came out. I got to see it and "Friday the 13th" a LOT.

Zelda's pagan group does a camping trip for Samhain and Beltane every year. I'm just glad they don't go camping for Yule as well.

I know people that go camping for Christmas.

F#&~ that, they're crazy! We invented walls and fire for a reason, I say.

The kids have off of school tomorrow, I still gotta work, unfortunately.

Or I suppose, fortunately, since last pay period I only had 48 hours for the two week period.

G%+@&@n f@#*ing rain.

Howdy! So what's shakin' this weekend? I'm running my annual Halloween game and this time it features a Mesmerist who's also a dire werewolf. I can't wait to see the looks on my players' faces.

Today is also my birthday, so I get to do whatever I want this weekend. For snacks tomorrow we're having potted meat sandwiches and canned squirt cheese on Ritz crackers, along with birthday cake! And today it's a dance party all day at Sweet Home Calabama. Nothing but funk coming out of my speakers all day and night. Now if I only had someone to dance with. And could still dance.

So get down with your bad selves!

Well, as mentioned, we went camping. This weekend, Zelda's eldest is getting a car from her uncle. Zelda and I are meeting Zelda's brother halfway, giving the eldest the car, and then we're taking back roads home, but staying close enough to be able to provide assistance to The Eldest should the car prove to be less than reliable. Which it almost certainly is going to be.

Happy belated birthday Cal!

Thanks! I hope the vehicle works out!

I'm almost certain that it's going to leave her stranded somewhere. Her uncle says things like "Runs great on the highway!" and then follows that up with "If you're driving around town after being on the highway, it frequently stalls out and dies. I wonder if that's because I overheated the engine about 6 times?"

"Runs great on the highway". Yeah, that's a bogus car.

We're trick or treating while Crookshanks and grandpa hold down the pillow fort.

They moved the trick or treat night to last night here in town because for a week now the forecast called for 100% chance of rain tonight. And sure enough, it's been raining like mad all day.

The weather cooperated with us, temps in the fifties and no wind to speak of.

Excellent!

I'm expecting the shock absorbers to blow through the hood and trunk lid before she gets it home. And maybe a flaming piston will go flying into the air.

Let us know how that works out!

What are the rest of you guys doing? It's our weekend off from gaming so I guess I'll be staring into the Abyss. And being cold. The thermostat on my heater seems to have died and I hope the landlord can get it fixed today. That's about it.

So? The rest of you? Entertain me!

The car made it home without immediate mechanical failure. The Eldest still got lost on a straight shot down an interstate.

I worked for a company and we had a new guy we were training so we send him back to the shop. All he had to do was drive two blocks, make a left turn and drive another three blocks.

We got a call two and a half hours later that he was lost. In Dubuque, Iowa.
